1972 honda cb450 value DEFAULT

The K5 model of the CB450, the 1972 model was a gradual evolution of the famous Black Bomber. Over the years, a moderate amount of changes were made – megaphone mufflers, rubber fork gaiters, and a front disk brake were added over time, along with other cosmetic changes like paint colors and sidecover emblems. By 1970 (when the K3 was introduced), the CB450 had received most of its changes and it would stay nearly the same through out the K7 generation.

This example (VIN: CB4505000170) was recently restored after 8,900 miles and two owners of life. The restoration took over 600 hours and the end result looks nice. The seller lists about a multitude of parts that were replaced, but the important thing is that “everything works as it should…the engine pulls really strong, and the transmission is very smooth.”

The gas tank is super clean, and I had a local shop put on new tires and new brake pads. The only other engine that Honda made with that technology was an F1 engine. The seat is in excellent condition. There is also a new chain and sprockets (both to factory specs). The chain is the non-oring type that is necessary for these bikes. Put on new OEM grips, too

The design phase was well thought out, the bike was completely gone through, we powder coated in gloss and satin black everything from wheels, spokes, hubs, triple trees, headlight ring, pegs, kickstands, brake pedal, shifter, kicker and most of the smaller parts, the original hardware was cleaned, polished and reused, all rubber grommets including shifter, kicker pad, bushings, grips were replaced with new OEM. This is not a total restoration. This Honda CB450 is in great shape and has a lot of work completed in the last couple of years. OEM & NOS parts were utilized during restoration. Engine was not rebuilt but runs great. Original points were replaced with PAMCO solid state ignition; bike starts and runs very smooth.

NEW NOS Tank was clear coated to protect from UV. Side Covers were repainted by professional shop that matched tank color. Many parts are power coated to prevent rust. Rebuilt carburetors after ultrasonic cleaning, NEW carb kits, NEW floats. New clutch, throttle, and speedometer cables. Fork seals and rubber boots replaced. Left handle bar control replaced with updated wiring on outside of bar. Right handlebar control professionally machined (modified) and electrical wire routed outside bar. Perfect original wiring and all electrical works perfect. New blinkers and stems. New chrome fork headlight brackets.  OEM mufflers in excellent condition, no rust through.

There is a scratch on the right side cover. See picture with yellow circle identifying the scratch.

Vagabund 1972 Honda CB450 Is Here Just for Drool Effect, Not for Sale

As part of the various-themed coverages over the past few months here on autoevolution, we talked quite a bit about how this European hunger for non-Harley custom bikes is shaped. And we’ll keep doing it because it seems there are enough bikes out there to keep us interested for a long time to come.

One busy little bee is a shop from Austria called Vagabund. The studio, as it calls itself, has been in business for some time now, and it’s not picky when it comes to the bikes it uses as the base of their projects. It is picky however when it comes to the manufacturing processes, and Vagabund is one of the few currently using 3D printing, for instance, to speed up the build process.

One of the projects they made a while back and is NOT for sale is the V02 in the gallery above. Once a Honda CB450, it got turned into this thing here, a sleeker, shinier and definitely more exciting variant of its former self.

The CB450 was made by Honda between 1965 and 1974, and set itself apart through the use of a partially chromed fuel tank. The original look of the hardware has somewhat been maintained on the V02.

As usual when it comes to Vagabund projects, one of the biggest changes can be seen at the rear, where a full custom frame was welded. It supports, among others, the leather seat, a LED waist light and turn signals.

The engine is the original one offered by Honda, only serviced to run smoothly. That is a 44cc powerplant good for 43 hp and 37 Nm of torque.

Unlike most other Vagabund projects, the V02 is listed on the Austrian’s websiteas not for sale.
