Intj anime characters

Intj anime characters DEFAULT

Welcome to Anime Rants! In place of Wednesday’s Random Rants, I’m covering examples of anime characters for each of the 16 personality types in the Myers-Briggs model (the MBTI). Today we’re covering INTJs. For descriptions of this type, check out The Personality Page,16 Personalities, or Human Metrics. They each have good write-ups describing this personality type, which is often called the Mastermind or the Strategist. Without further ado, here is my list of 16 randomly selected INTJ anime characters.

Ciel Phantomhive (Black Butler)

Due to youth, he’s less poised and cool-headed than many on this list, but Ciel is INTJ all the way. He is driven to find out who killed his parents and humiliated him, using whatever strategies and tools he can. Ciel even enlists the power of a demon to serve him and help him meet his goals, offering his soul in exchange.

Elias (Magus Bride)

It’s difficult to assign a type to Elias since he isn’t human and can’t feel many human emotions. Still, I think the closest match for Elias would probably be INTJ. He’s confident and fine with occasional socializing, but prefers a lot of alone time in his quiet study. Far from being practical or traditional, Elias probably wouldn’t be the sensing type. Since he has little to no ability to feel emotions, and little to no sense of moral values, he can’t be a Feeler. That being said, he isn’t quite as fair- and logically-minded as most Thinkers. Elias plans ahead and prefers organization and structure. In short, he’s introverted, intuitive, thinking, and judging.

Griffith (Berserk)

One can argue Griffith is an INFJ, but I think he’s just slightly a better fit for INTJ. The way he successfully leads his band of followers to becoming great warriors is impressive. So is the way he managed to make himself great and accepted by (most) nobles of the country in such a short time. His strategies and quiet confidence definitely point to INTJ. Note: What I know of Griffith only comes from the 1997 anime; I haven’t read the manga or seen the newer berserk anime.

Heinrich Lunge (Monster)

Lunge is a detective who shows many INTJ traits like having great strategies, senses of logic and reasoning, excellent deductive ability, and ability to think outside the box. He records all information he learns meticulously, using it to help him form analyses of people and situations, as well as solutions to problems and mysteries. Also like a classic INTJ, Lunge has trouble with understanding and/or respecting the values and feelings of others. He puts his interests (his detective work) before his friends and family, which results in his wife divorcing him and his daughter becoming estranged.

Kei Nagai (Ajin)

Kei is the main character in the Netflix original series Ajin. He’s decisive, thoughtful, and logical to the core. Even after he is tortured by the people at an experimental facility, Kei did not hold a grudge, and saw no sense in the idea of killing for revenge. Though this INTJ had no single plot long in the making in this series, he still plans ahead with smaller schemes and is impressive in his effectiveness. Kei seems emotionally distanced from others, but he rarely acts arrogant. In thinking, he is definitely an iNtuitive type, inventive in his ideas.

Kirei Kotomine (Fate/Zero)

I haven’t watched Fate/Zero before with the specific intent of studying the characters, and I’m probably not qualified to give Kotomine Kirei a personality analysis, seeing that I’m biased against him. I hate his guts. That’s one mark of a great anime villain. It’s true he’s an antagonist in the story, but many fans admire and respect Kirei as much as the protagonists, and since most of them are amoral or immoral too, you might as well like “the badguy.” In a reddit discussion, most of the people seemed to believe Kirei would be an INTJ, and that is why I included him.

Kurapika (HxH)

Ah, after thinking about the horrible Kirei, thank goodness we have Kurapika, an example of an INTJ well equipped with a sense of values and integrity. Like many INTJs, this young man is individualistic, and if not exactly ambitious, then keenly focused on his plans and their future success. More than many others on this list, Kurapika values friendship and altruism highly, and even as he prioritizes his goal over everything else, he still struggles adopting the mindset that the end justifies the means. Kurapika’s small tribe of people were wiped out, leaving him as the only survivor. He seeks to have vengeance and bring justice on the ones responsible.

Kyouko Kirigiri (Danganronpa franchise)

Miss Kirigiri is only highschool-aged in the first Danganronpa series, but she’s already a worthy detective. Her goal in attending the famous Hope’s Peak Academy is to reconnect with her father, who, according to rumors, is the principle. of the school. Kirigiri comes across as cold, aloof, and even arrogant, though once you get to know her, you realize she’s just very introverted and highly logical. Now and then, Kirigiri uses dubious means to help reach her goals. Still, she’s someone who believes in the human spirit and wants hope to win over despair.

Kyouya Ootori (Ouran Highschool Host Club)

Kyouya is textbook INTJ. It shows especially in the way he’s so analytical, calculating, and always one step ahead of the others. Like other INTJs on this list, he had a plan long in the making that he pulled off at just the right time, much to the surprise of his family. I don’t want to spoil Kyouya’s character arc completely, but what he does is something that finally wins him the respect of his father and puts him on equal footing with his both of his extremely gifted older brothers.

Makise Kurisu (Steins;Gate)

Everyone’s favorite “sciency” girl, Kurisu (AKA Celeb 17 Kristiiiina) is a teenage genius, with articles already published in science journals and magazines. She shares the INTJ traits of having a sharp mind, forming strategies well, and being independent, decisive, self-confident, hard-working, and determined. Of all the INTJs in this list, Kurisu is the closest to being an F type, as she is sensitive, reasonably humble, amazingly patient, and perceptive of others’ feelings. When it comes down to making decisions, though, logic comes before personal feelings.

Makoto Kusanagi (Ghost in the Shell)

It’s been a long time since I’ve seen Ghost in the Shell, movies or anime TV series. I’ve never tried to analyze The Major’s personality before. But over at Personality Cafe, people have been quick to peg The Major as an INTJ. Based on what little I remember, I’d have to agree.

Nagi Kirima (Boogiepop 2019)

Analyzing the characters from Boogiepop wa Warawanai (2019) was a lot of fun for me in the winter 2019 season. Nagi is clearly an INTJ. With her keen mind, various skills, excellent strategies, determination, and thirst for knowledge, Nagi seeks to understand and analyze mysterious beings like Boogiepop and the Fear Ghoul. It’s also her goal to eliminate those creatures if any of them threaten her school or home city.

Ray (The Promised Neverland)

Ray is close to being an INTP. At least, I think so, being an INTP and seeing a lot of myself in this character. Unlike us relatively directionless INTPs, however, Ray likes to think ahead, develop plans, and follow through. He’s truly ambitious. For many years, Ray has had just one major goal, for which he has slowly and steadily planned and prepared. I don’t want to spoil what it is, so if you haven’t seen it yet, go watch The Promised Neverland!

Satsuki Kiryuin (Kill la Kill)

Satsuki is among my top 10 favorite female characters in anime. She is determined, logical, strategical, ambitious, independent, self-confident, and able to think outside the box. INTJ weaknesses include arrogant, impatience with others, and refusing to compromise — Satsuki showcases all these tendencies. She’s right on the border of INTJ and ENTJ, being extremely charismatic, a persuasive communicator, and great at leading others. Still, she’s slightly more like an introvert than an extravert.

Toshio Ozaki (Shiki/ Corpse Demon)

Toshio is the highly intelligent, knowledgeable, dedicated, and versatile doctor for the little town in which Shiki/Corpse Demon takes place. Depending on your own sense of values, you might see Toshio as a villainous character, since he is perfectly willing to throw away all sense of humanity and resort to any nasty means to fight the Shiki. But his motivation in doing so is to protect and save the remaining villagers, and his arguments are logically sound in nearly every instance. Thus, you can also see Toshio as the hero of the series. Dr. Ozaki exhibits most of the same INTJ traits as the others on this list.

Tsumugu (Nagi no Asu kara/ A Lull in the Sea)

Tsumugu is one of my favorite male INTJ characters. He’s a good example of an INTJ who isn’t particularly ambitious. He loves science and his goal is to be one of the few active researchers studying and analyzing the underwater people and the Enna skin that lets them breathe while submerged. Being smart, innovative, and adaptable, Tsumugu succeeded in his dream and is now a grad student studying what he loves. He exhibits most INTJ characteristics, but compared to the others on this list, he’s much more of an introvert.

I hope you enjoyed this list. Note: Lelouch from Code Geass is also a great example of an INTJ anime character, hence the cover image, but I got a bit tired of talking about him all the time. Some people consider Light from Death Note an INTJ, but in my opinion, he’s most definitely an ENTJ. That’s about it for now. Thanks a bunch for taking the time to read this post. I really appreciate it! Until next time, sayonara!

5 Anime You'll Love If You're An INTJ (& 5 You'll Hate)

Much like western media and entertainment, anime covers a wide variety of genres and subgenres. There's something for everyone regardless of one's demographic or age, even for people as picky or as meticulous as INTJs. INTJs tend to be rare, according to the Myers & Briggs Foundation, and thus, art forms that suit their preferences tend to also be rare.

RELATED: JoJo: 5 Anime Characters Who Can Outsmart Jotaro Kujo (& 5 Who Can't)

Still, certain anime have proven to be INTJ magnets, especially ones that explore philosophical themes, big ideas, and complex plots or protagonists. At the same time, certain anime will likely repulse or even bore INTJ for their lack of mental stimulation. Here are five examples of each from both ends of the INTJ's (somewhat snobbish) preferential spectrum.

10 Love: Death Note

The sad part about having to watch Death Note again is knowing all the twists and turns and not being surprised anymore. It's jam-packed with suspense and intellectual acrobatics between the two INTJ main characters (Light and L) that it's perfect for INTJ viewers.

More than that, Death Note boldly explores morality and justice in a way that most anime never did before it existed. It became a controversial playground of ideas with frequent bouts of crime drama and suspense.

9 Hate: One Piece

Hate is a strong word and in One Piece's case; it might not be applicable for INTJ. Some would simply just stop continuing the series after the first few dozen episodes given how blunt and simple the protagonists and characters can be.

RELATED: Vinland Saga: 5 Smartest Characters From The Anime (& 5 Who Are Not So Smart)

Most of them are aimed for children, which is why they're either just one-dimensional or lack apparent flaws other than being weaker than the most powerful villains or the protagonist. As for the plot and the story, there's nothing of major substance here that'll inspire an INTJ. Besides, the fan service has gotten more frequent lately.

8 Love: Code Geass

If viewers can look past the plot holes and the teen angst, Code Geassis actually a serviceable anime for INTJs. It gets a lot of comparisons with Death Note, even though Code Geass is primarily a mech anime.

That's because the protagonist, Lelouch, is also an INTJ whose mind is constantly thinking of ways to outsmart everyone and be resourceful with his Geass. The alternate history take, as well as more mature subject matters, are also welcome aspects of this anime.

7 Hate: Most Sports Anime

Sports anime are pretty much like every other Shonen anime, except the protagonist doesn't have any powers. If they're not slice-of-life, then they tend to be comical caricatures of the sport.

RELATED: Naruto: 5 Anime Heroes Orochimaru Could Easily Outsmart (& 5 He Couldn't)

The plot and story are then predictable; the protagonist just wants to be the very best like no one ever was, and they'll only be able to achieve it through the power of friendship and perseverance. That kind of simplicity can be monotonous.

6 Love: Steins;Gate

Here's something more complicated than Death Note's rules, Steins; Gate is one of the best sci-fi anime to ever exist. It tackles time travel to a certain extent, since the protagonist was able to invent a device that allows messages to be sent across time.

The implications of such a device are a lot larger than fruits that give powers or a notebook that can kill people. For that matter, Steins; Gate to anime is what Inception is to western movies. It explores huge ambitious backdrops larger and more important than the characters themselves, and that's one surefire way to attract INTJs.

5 Hate: Deadman Wonderland

Speaking of big and wild ideas, Deadman Wonderland could have been amazing. The manga was certainly imaginative and insanely atmospheric despite the lack of depth. The anime, on the other hand, just didn't do the source material any justice.

RELATED: 10 Seemingly Dumb Anime Characters Who Are Secretly Smart

Deadman Wonderland was not only visually disappointing compared to the manga, which is bad enough for an anime. but the pacing and how the show just rushes from action to action gets repetitive and dull. Moreover, it's hard to like Ganta Igarashi, the protagonist.

4 Love: Psycho-Pass

For a good discourse about society and the human mind, Psycho-Pass ought to trigger some analytical questions. A lot of fans refer to it as the anime version of Minority Report, except it's less about a personal crime drama conspiracy and more about humanity.

Psycho-Pass explores this notion through the guise of a crime-drama though. It follows the story of a rookie police inspector and her jaded colleagues along with the equally jaded world.

3 Hate: High School Of The Dead

No one's complaining about fan service, necessarily. Yet, fan service without a plot or something substantial to distract from it is just cheap softcore pornography. High School of the Dead is too guilty of this.

RELATED: The 10 Richest Anime Characters Of All Time, Ranked

Remove the fan service, and the whole anime is just a generic zombie apocalypse shooting gallery that's been done to death. Every once in a while this kind of dumb fun might be welcome to an INTJ, but treating it as the main course instead of just a snack is just poor taste. Viewers deserve better.

2 Love: Neon Genesis Evangelion

Here's an example of a deep anime peppered with fan service. The creators can remove all the slashy posteriors and bosoms as well as the suggestive themes, and Neon Genesis Evangelionwill still be an iconic mech anime.

It explores the philosophy of individuality, depression, and even responsibility in the guise of psychologically unstable teens piloting killer sentient mechas. In fact, one episode even references Soren Kierkegaard's book. That's when you know that the creators love their work enough to pour their creative juices into it.

1 Hate: Classroom Of The Elite

If there's one thing INTJs hate more than cheap, low-quality media, it's media trying to look intelligent. Classroom of the Elite is one such anime; the main character is an insufferable edgy and underrated "genius" whose goal is to get to the top class in the country.

Not only does he misuse his smarts for something so petty, but the anime also keeps trying to tell instead of show the philosophical themes it wants to convey. As a result, it feels forced, and, suddenly, the main character is suddenly proficient in martial arts, too, on top of being smart. It's one thing to copy Death Note's Light Yagami, but, making him a "good guy" protagonist is questionable.

18 INTJ Anime Characters/Cartoon Characters We Absolutely Love

INTJs are the logisticians of the MBTI world. They are logical and can pick their way through most puzzles or patterns. So what about INTJ anime characters?

If you have ever wondered which anime characters are INTJs, then you’re in luck. In this article, we are going to identify 18 INTJ anime characters that we absolutely love.

18 of the Very Best INTJ Anime Characters

1.      Levi Ackerman (Attack on Titan)

If you are a big fan of Attack on Titan, then you most likely know Levi Ackerman. He is often regarded as the strongest soldier alive.

Levi uses his logic and understanding of the battlefield in pretty much every part of his life. He might seem very unsocial. However, his juniors absolutely love him. He is the definition of an INTJ. With his might and logical brain, he often does everything to win.

2.      Silverfang (One Punch Man)

Silverfang is one of the supporting characters in One Punch Man. As a typical INTJ, he always seems calm even when tension is rising. Silverfang is also depicted as blunt and very wise.

He is also someone who loves people who are competent and reliable. INTJs are very much like this. They can think through problems in a tense environment.

We have no doubt that Silverfang is an INTJ.

3.      Yako (Toilet-Bound Hanako-Kun)

“Don’t touch me. I have no intention of being friends with you! And…My name is Yako! Next time you call me fox san, I’ll bite your hands off”

As you probably already guessed, Yako is quite an intense character. Yako is depicted as a supernatural that takes the form of humans. She is very conscious of self-respect and often looks down on humans.

However, Yako is very logical and thinks before acting. We believe she is very much an INTJ.

4.      Shun Kazami (Bakugan: Battle Brawlers)

If you are a big fan of Bakugan Battle Brawlers, you probably already know who Shun Kazami is. He is part of the leading characters in the show. He is one of the team players that actually thinks a lot before playing his cards.

Here is one of Shun’s many battles.

Because of this, you have to be really smart to beat Shun. INTJs love logical battles. This series is all about playing your cards and characters right. Shun often does that to perfection.

5.      Kanata kamado (Demon Slayer)

Kanata is known for his straight face and direct communication. Like most INTJs, he is always calculating his every move and is very analytical.

In fact, we only see him smiling when he is with Toko Agatsuma. Just like most INTJs, his emotions are hidden most of the time. I don’t think there’s even an argument about what MBTI type he falls under.

6.      Long Feng (Avatar: The Last Air bender)

We are a bit confused as to whether Long Feng was an INTJ or an ENTJ. However, what we do know that he is an incredible thinker. Long Feng’s lust for power shows that he is clearly an enneagram 8.

His thinking and analytical mind make him a clear candidate for INTJ. He is also so organized and plans a lot to be an INTP.

7.      Elsa (Frozen)

Just like Long Feng, Elsa is also a bit difficult to place. However, we stick to the fact that she is an INTJ. She’s completely reserved and has control over her emotions.

In fact, you hardly understand what is beneath her exterior. It’s only evident when she is with those that she really cares about. She falls into our category of INTJ anime characters.

8.      Teru Mikami (Death Note)

“There is no reason for me to question God. God is absolute. My job is to do as God wishes”.

Teru is clearly an INTJ. First, we see the INTJ death stare in a lot of his scenes. His thoughts are often clear and precise. They are often devoid of any emotional reactions.

He is depicted as someone who has strong values and is dedicated to achieving his goals or targets. You’d be mad to stand in his way.

9.      Thors Karlsefni (Vinland Saga)

While you would not have guessed he was an INTJ in childhood, that is quickly evident as an adult. Thors keeps to himself and has certain goals that he wants to hit. If we were to place an enneagram type on this INTJ anime character, we’ll bet that he is clearly an enneagram 8w7.

He also shows much devotion to his goals throughout the show.

10.  Lawlite “L” (Death Note)

With Lawlite, we get a look at the world’s greatest detective. It’s a bit like Sherlock Holmes. However, unlike Sherlock, we believe that Lawlite’s an INTJ.

He is a great planner and hardly trusts anything that is said without proof. He is also quick to mistrust human emotions. Just like a typical INTJ, he is quite analytical and logical in his reasoning.

11.  Kakashi (Naruto)

Are you a big fan of Naruto? If you are, then you have probably heard of Kakashi. Kakashi is an independent and extremely talented character. He is also quite self-confident in his abilities.

He is also very logical. This often makes him sound pretty harsh and insensitive. We believe that Kakashi is an INTJ because of how reserved he is. Combine that with his intuition and logical thinking and his personality type becomes clearer.

12.  Apollo (Blood of Zeus)

Born out of wedlock, it’s hard to miss Apollo in the blood of Zeus. He is ever at Zeus’ side and covers for him with some clever thinking. His demeanor and ability to stay calm during intense pressure or questioning show that he is a thinker.

Throughout the blood of Zeus, he is also very reserved and calm. This sounds like INTJ to me.

13.  Sasuke (Naruto)

Sasuke’s dramatic change is a bit like Thors. He was just a sweet child growing up. However, after the death of his entire clan, he made it his mission to avenge their deaths.

His perseverance and intuition make him one of the strongest characters in Naruto. It’s a hot debate if he can actually take on Naruto. Well, that’s a story for another day.

14.  Stewie Griffin (Family Guy)

Yes, this character is just a year old. However, Stewie in family guy is clearly an INTJ. Stewie is known for being mentally above his age. He is also credited for a great understanding of engineering and physics.

He also seemed to be a criminal mastermind as he repeatedly kills a lot of minor characters. Yep, he’s definitely an INTJ.

15.  Prince Canute (Vinland Saga)

Prince Canute who later becomes the king is one incredible character. Throughout the show, we see this character change from being weak to timid to being manipulative and commanding.

His final personality is more reserved and analytical. Combined this with his ability to plan and you have an INTJ right there.

16.  Masquerade (Bakugan: Battle Brawlers)

Masquerade was the big bad in Bakugan for most of the first part. He was literally undefeatable and seem to have all the members of Dan’s team in despair.

Here’s a battle between Dan and Masquerade. You already can guess how that ended.

The only person who came close to defeating Masquerade in a battle was Shun. That’s what happens when two INTJs face off against each other.

17.  Kiriya Ubuyashiki (Demon Slayer)

This character is depicted as aloof and indifferent. Kiriya is also depicted as a leader and who could analyze and control the demon slayers when they went to battle.

His calm and intelligent mind coupled with his ability to carry out calculated attacks makes him an INTJ.

18.  Kokushibo (Demon Slayer)

Kokushibo is a supporting character. He was fiercely loyal to the antagonist of the show. Some of his qualities that show how much of an INTJ he was were his introverted nature, insensitive tone, and intelligence.

He was pretty reliable and competent in whatever he wanted to achieve. If you could pick a perfect sidekick, it would be kokushibo.

So there you have it. INTJ anime characters are everywhere we look. If you have some more characters, suggest them to us in the comment section and we won’t hesitate to add them up.

10 Amazing INTJ Anime Characters

Ray from The Promised Neverland

Ray, an INTJ character from The Promised Neverland.

Ray’s Prominent Character Traits: Serious, private, intelligent, skeptical, blunt, cunning.

Sullen yet insightful, Ray understands the true nature of Grace Field House before any of the other students are able to. In typical INTJ fashion, Ray considers it a kindness to be blunt and straightforward. He has little patience for silliness or the emotional sensitivities of the other children. His forward-thinking, strategic mind is fully on display as he creates a six-year secret plan to make sure that two of his closest friends are able to find freedom.

Hendrickson from Seven Deadly Sins

Hendrickson, an INTJ character from the Seven Deadly Sins

Hendrickson’s Prominent Character Traits: Cool, level-headed, serious, commanding, confident.

Hendrickson has a knack for predicting the actions of others long before they ever happen. As a former Great Holy Knight of the Liones Kingdom, he longs to find his true purpose and, as a villain, is willing to lie and manipulate in order to achieve that purpose. His intuition is evident in his ability to see the potential of how things can be used and also in his tendency to orchestrate situations far in advance of when they actually occur. His thinking side shows up in his careful yet efficient use of strategy. He is serious, commanding, and swift to delegate people to their most effective roles.

Lelouch Lamperouge (vi Brittania) from Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion

Lelouche’s Prominent Character Traits: Strategic, visionary, rebellious, focused, cunning, compassionate.

Lelouch Lamperouge sees life as an ever-evolving chess match. He has a unique gift for anticipating his enemies’ moves and planning accordingly. He anticipates far ahead into the distant future, creating long-term plans that will transform the world. While on the outside he may look cold and scheming, on the inside he cares deeply about the welfare of the repressed and downtrodden. This is where his tertiary Introverted Feeling (Fi) really shows up in tandem with his Introverted Intuition (Ni). He doesn’t mind playing the bad guy if, at the end of his arduous plan, his values and beliefs are what he is ultimately defending.

Kurapika from Hunter X Hunter

Kurapika’s Prominent Character Traits: Focused, intelligent, argumentative, curious, reticent, strategic, ruthless, loyal.

Kurapika is a visionary, determined individual. Even as a young child he fought and debated his way into being able to venture into the world outside his own clan. Although he may seem cold and calculating on the outside, Kurapika is deeply loyal to his friends. He frequently fights in defense of his loved ones, and his friends are also the only ones who seem to be able to pull him out of his angry and violent episodes. His intuition is evident in the way he is constantly reading between the lines, analyzing, and forecasting. He doesn’t like taking things at face value, instead he is frequently questioning people’s motivations and looking to understand them on a deeper level.

Tsukishima Kei (Tsukki) from Hyaikuu!!

Tsukishima’s Prominent Character Traits: Snarky, observant, analytical, intelligent, strategic, calculating, private.

Tsukishima becomes, in many ways, the master strategist of the Karasuno volleyball team. He often has a last-minute insight that changes the course of an entire game. Quiet and analytical, he creates systematic approaches to defeating his opponents and gets everyone on board to work effectively. The one player he seems to butt heads with is, surprisingly, the other INTJ on his team. It takes Tsukishima a while to get motivated to compete in volleyball because he realizes the temporary nature of the game and any victory they might achieve. Yet when he finally finds his motivation, he’s daring, ingenious, and challenging to get past.

Neji Hyuga from Naruto

Neji’s Prominent Character Traits: Responsible, intelligent, serious, driven, disciplined, insightful.

Neji’s mental sharpness and fortitude were obvious from a young age. While he wasn’t technically allowed to learn any of his clan’s advanced techniques, through sheer observation and drive he was able to master them on his own. In typical Intuitive fashion, Neji frequently speaks in metaphors and symbols and believes in there being a grand-plan or destiny that he needs to achieve. His focus remains staunchly on the big picture, and his thinking side shows up in his blunt, matter-of-fact manner of speaking.

Ryunosuke Akutagawa from Bungou Stray Dogs

Ryunosuke’s Prominent Character Traits: Vengeful, cunning, bitter, ruthless, blunt, resentful, quick-tempered.

Ryunosuke is a deeply sympathetic villain. Throughout the Bungou Stray Dogs series, you repeatedly witness the childhood pain and anguish that set him on a trajectory towards violence. As the self-titled Port Mafia “dog,” he will do whatever it takes to further the mafia’s goals and his own agendas. He has a rather black-and-white view of how the world should be, believing that the strong should rule over the weak and in every respect attempting to remain strong and emotionally detached. While he is indeed a villain, he has moments of humanity and vulnerability that make him a powerfully three-dimensional character. His strategic nature and “ends-justifies-the-means” approach exemplify how Introverted Intuition nature can be both cunning and dangerous.

Kurisu Makise from Steins;Gate

Kurisu’s Prominent Character Traits: Intelligent, sensible, serious, practical, sarcastic, curious.

Serious and mature, Kurisu is a genius who graduated from university at the early age of seven. As a member of the Brain Science Institute, she helps Okabe create a time machine and helps him manage the logistics of getting back and forth and trying to save lives. Like many INTJs, Makise is sarcastic, sensible, and focused. She rarely flies into a panic and often theorizes about the scientific nature of things. For example, when she’s kissing someone she hypothesizes about Einstein’s theory of relativity rather than staying truly in the moment.

Kai Chisaki “Overhaul” from My Hero Academia

Overhaul’s Prominent Character Traits: Cunning, strategic, antisocial, obsessive, ambitious, germophobic.

As the mastermind behind many harrowing battles, Chisaki sees people as pawns to be used towards his end, rather than individuals with feelings. Every move he makes is precisely planned out to be part of a larger “master plan.” He hopes to eradicate Quirks from the world, thus allowing the yakuza to reclaim the power they once held over society. No matter what happens, Chisaki is always thinking of the bigger picture and predicting how things will unfold and affect his plan – allowing himself to improvise and innovate if need be. He also excels in leadership, albeit violently, as he can stay organized and calm in a crisis and factor in the abilities of multiple people in order to plan well-coordinated attacks.

Merlin from The Seven Deadly Sins

Merlin’s Prominent Character Traits: Intelligent, humorous, calm, strategic, mysterious, polite, curious.

Regarded as the greatest mage in Brittania, Merlin is the Boar’s sin of gluttony. She ravenously hungers for knowledge – going so far as to suspend her age so that she can absorb all the knowledge in the world. She has a calm, thoughtful demeanor, rarely flying into a panic when disaster strikes. She can calmly assess nearly any situation, shrewdly coming up with a defined strategy before launching into action. Her desire for information, her intuition into implications, and her calm, logical side plant her firmly in the INTJ camp.

The INTJ personality type

As an INTJ, your dominant way of directing attention is an internal one, towards the inner world, where you analyze things mainly through personal intuition. The secondary way of directing attention is external, where you analyze things logically, rationally.

INTJ people live in a world of ideas and strategic planning. They value intelligence, competence, knowledge and, typically, have very high standards in this regard, standards that they strive to achieve. The others are somehow expected to be just like them.

With an Introverted Intuition dominating their personality, INTJ people focus their energy on observing the world generating ideas and possibilities. Their minds constantly gather information and make all kinds of associations, connections. They are very insightful and understand new ideas immediately.

However, their priority is not to understand the concepts, but their practical applicability. They want to be actively involved in everything they discover.

The INTJs are in great need of order and systematization, and this, combined with a penetrating understanding of things, makes them excellent scientists. An INTJ as a scientist knows how to give a gift to society by turning ideas into a useful form for others to understand and use.

It is not an easy thing for INTJ to express their inner, imaginary and abstract ideas. An INTJ is a strong conceptualist and yet makes great efforts to translate ideas into a system of notions already used, understood by others.

INTJ people are innate leaders, but they choose to remain the people behind the curtain, except in situations where they really need to take the lead. When they are in the lead, they are quite efficient because they know how to observe the objective side of things and they like to find solutions to things that do not work properly.

They are strategists by definition, constantly scanning ideas and concepts that are circulating, adapting their strategies or keeping them for situations where new data will surely be needed.

INTJs spend a lot of time inside their minds, having too little time and interest in the thoughts and feelings of others. If the effective part is not well developed, they may have trouble giving others the necessary degree of intimacy. When the sensory part is not very well developed, they may end up ignoring details that are necessary to implement their ideas.

INTJs have many abilities to accomplish a lot of special things. They can convert their conceptions, their ideas, often very precious, into concrete, feasible plans. Usually, we find them among the most competent people and they will have no problem in achieving their goals, pursuing their desired career.

For those who learn to communicate with others and who practice tolerance towards people, a special life is reserved for them, both as professional and relational accomplishments.

She has been described as a tsundere by Rintarou Okabe and Itaru Hashida over and over again, although she is annoyed every time someone calls her that.

INTJ anime characters Levi Ackerman from Attack on Titan

The name “Levi” is of Hebrew origin and means “He who unites his own.” He is also recognized as “the strongest soldier in humanity”. This reputation was given by the other soldiers and the people due to his great combat abilities on the battlefield.

Levi is a serious person, with a firm character and clear ideas. He has great respect for discipline and is a conscript with enormous potential to be a leader, as his orders are always clear and precise, without anyone daring to question his authority.

His seriousness and coldness transmit that kind of respect, especially this first factor, being someone with few words and who very rarely expresses his feelings. INTJ anime characters Usui Takami from Maid Sama!

But the latter does not leave Usui as a slob, because Misaki tries not to put interest in him, but turns him into a fool in love more. His sensuality and his ways of appearing in the series are some of the reasons why you will love him.

Usui Takumi is a quite mysterious character, almost nothing is known about how he uses his free time, nor his tastes, nor his history (since, well, he is from a shoujo anime, and clear, focuses on him a female character …), but what we can take advantage of is his personality.

INTJ anime characters Rei Ryugazaki from Free!

Rei is one of the protagonists of anime Free !This is a high school student, who practised athletics for a long time, but in his first year of high school decided to join the swimming club, specializing in the butterfly style.

This is a tall and handsome boy, as well as being obsessed with things he considers beautiful.

INTJ Anime Characters Haikyuu!!

The prominent INTJ anime characters in the show Haikyuu!! are as follows:

  • Akaashi Keiji
  • Itachiyama Institute
  • Kei Tsukishima
  • Sachiro Hirugami
  • Tamahiko Teshiro
  • Tobio Kageyama

Out of these, the most well known and widely accepted INTJ anime character on the show Haikyuu!! is Tobio Kageyama, and he is so well-known because he is actually one of the lead characters, and he shows the most significant INTJ personality traits.

Kageyama is an INTJ anime character on Haikyuu!! even after he goes through a very wide range of character growth however, like a true INTJ, despite all the growth he stays a pretty introverted person and he does not experience or express emotion readily.

This INTJ anime character on haikyuu always tends to have a hard time discussing his needs with his team and this makes Kageyama one of the most perfect INTJ characters both on the court and off.

He plays the position of setter for Karasuno, and like a true INTJ anime character, he always has a plan for different plays and how to overcome different opponents and struggles, which may be due to the extroverted thinking function that is usually responsible for the person planning and executing things properly.

Even though Kageyama is not able to convey his needs perfectly because he rules predominantly by thinking and intuition, the people around him seem to understand well enough what he wants and how he functions which may often be true of many INTJ personalities.

Once the team starts to understand Kageyama they also understand well enough that he has the sight needed to see the whole court rather than just himself and they understand the way his mind works.

INTJ Anime Characters BNHA

Kai Chisaki, or Overhaul, is the most prominent INTJ anime character on BNHA, or Boku no Hero Academia (My hero Academia), because of traits like being able to think his way through just about anything and an enhanced ability to plan and plot.

He can also be somewhat obsessive, which is not something seen often in INTJ anime characters but this BNHA character, known as Overhaul in his hero form, can be somewhat obsessive as well.

It is also noteworthy that obsessiveness usually tends to be a trait found in individuals with introverted thinking rather than extroverted thinking which is dominant in INTJ personality type, but in some cases the high intuition and extreme concern with perfectionism can cause these individuals to be obsessive as well.

Where other aspects of INTJ anime characters are concerned, Overhaul is pretty spot on, and he shows classic INTJ traits like being calm, cool and collected.

When he faces some of the strongest heroes currently in the professional hero business, he thinks and plans, instead of breaking down or getting emotional, which are key features of any INTJ personality.

INTJ characters, both anime and otherwise fictional ones, are portrayed as masterminds and thinkers, and they may often be formidable people even in fiction, causing the audience to look at them in awe, and Overhaul is certainly one such figure.

Though this INTJ anime character from BNHA is collected and calm, he can at the same time be incredibly detached from the people around him, and because of his emotions detachment from people he may even see them somewhat as tools that can help him reach his goal of alleviating the world at large of its quirk problem.

INTJ anime characters are often the kind to hatch evil plans or try to see evil things through with the sheer force of their planning and plotting, and this is exceptionally true of Overhaul.

He often places himself and his plans above everyone and everything around him, and therefore accomplishes the commonly seen tendency of the INTJ personality to isolate  themselves.

This can sometimes cause the INTJ personality to have no one around, like overhaul experiences, when he really needs a team rather than a set of tools and this may be what truly separates him from his counterpart Tomura Shigaraki.

INTJ Anime Characters Kakegurui

INTJ is a rare personality, and as such, there are only 2 INTJ anime characters on the show Kakegurui, Kaede Manyuda and Terano Totobami, and they both have supreme intellects which alone imply the possibility of an INTJ personality.

Kaede Manyuda is a typical INTJ anime character representation, which is apparent in how cold, ruthless and calculating he appears to be most of the time, and how extremely prudent and observant he is as a gambler, which may not be traits one expects from a gambler, but which are traits that one can expect from an INTJ gambler for sure.

He’s not your stereotypical INTJ villain, though, as he always takes the high road, which he himself often notes and this mindfulness likely comes from typical introverted intuition that rarely misses things because of how vast it is when considering possibilities and potentials.

This ability of Kaede often allows him to predict his opponent’s actions and he often wins due to this, but in a true introverted manner which keeps him from sharing his problems, he also has insecurities, specifically, a deep fear of being deemed worthless and discarded, which many INTJ personalities might well relate to.

Kaede shows the typical INTJ tendency to try to control the environment they are in by trying to make sure they don’t allow for anything that reveals their inner self to happen, no matter what the circumstance.

The other INTJ anime character in kakegurui is Terano Totobami, who like other members of her family, is an exceptional gambler and comes very close to the skills of the student council president, which are often conditions in which an INTJ might find themselves.

Terano is also very conniving and intelligent, which are often qualities that may be found in INTJ personalities, and like someone with an extroverted thinking function, she usually has a plan in mind which she keeps to herself because of her introverted nature.

Terano is also a true INTJ in how absolutely serious she is all the time, and how her goal of taking down Kirari is one of the only things she seems to care about at all.

Terano is the most determined member of her clan and most eager to take down Kirari Momobami. Terano absolutely despises her and will do anything to take her down. She loathes Kirari, because of her indifferent and egoistic attitude, which emphasizes she is concerned about the clan.

INTJ Anime Characters AOT

The primary INTJ anime character in AOT, or Attack on Titan, is Wald Richter, who is mysterious and interesting, two adjectives which are often used to refer to INTJ personalities in fiction and in real life.

INTJ anime characters are almost always cast in a position where they seem to wield a degree of power, and they tend to be formidable foes no matter who they are going up against.

Usually, most INTJ characters seem like they are just at the top all the time because of their extroverted thinking function and their lack of feeling or obvious emotion, which may be true in many real life INTJs as well, but it’s not because they are unfeeling, it’s just not something they express too often, is all.

Wald has all the typical tendencies of a true INTJ, for one thing, he is in an investigative role, which is something many INTJ personalities might find themselves drawn to, because of the possibilities they afford to look into things others don’t often understand.

On top of that, he is willing to do what it takes and doesn’t normally show his cards readily, making sure that others don’t know right away what he’s thinking and what he might do.

At the same time, like any true INTJ anime character, Wald was a civilized person, and he didn’t give in to outward displays of any kind.

This however, does not mean that he does not show it when he’s upset or angry, and this is evident in how he acts very displeased whenever someone around him acts uncivilized.

Because of their extroverted thinking abilities, INTJs are quite meticulous, and so Wald is also a very careful man, which is shown when he investigated Annie Leonhart’s ring to make sure it was safe to give back to her.

INTJ Anime Characters MHA

Other than Kai Chisaki, a leading INTJ anime character in MHA, or My hero academia, is Shouto Todoroki, which is due to his tendency to be able to think rationally and execute his plans well.

Todoroki’s quirk is often assumed to be “Half Hot/Half Cold,” and this is a good metaphor for the tendency of these people to be very difficult to get to know and very difficult to reach in general.

To people who want to access this INTJ anime character’s warmth and affection, people say it his quirk may as well be known as “Full Cold. Full Stop.”

An example of Todoroki’s personality comes during Class 1-A’s battle trials where this INTJ anime character walks into the building, and in this context both he and Mezo need to recover, and immediately send out his teammate before freezing the entire building.

Todoski is therefore Cold, clean, and efficient, which are often traits associated with not just INTJ people, but INTJ fictional characters as well as INTJ anime characters.

INTJs don’t usually waste a lot of time trying to second-guess themselves or trying to figure out if they did the right thing or not, and in the same vein, the INTJ anime character Todoski from BNHA does not spend a single second worrying about anything but the best and quickest way to win the trial.

INTJ Anime Characters HxH

There are surprisingly a very high number of INTJ anime characters in HxH, and these are:

  • Kurapika
  • Meruem
  • Gyro
  • Jed
  • Kalluto Zoldyck
  • Knov
  • Manipulator (Nen)
  • Omokage
  • Satotz
  • Theta
  • Welfin / Zaikahal
  • Zeno Zoldyck

However, apart from all of these, Chrollo is quite possibly one of the best INTJ anime characters in HxH, that is, Hunter x Hunter, because of the highly pragmatic thinking and practical approach he tends to have towards nearly everything.

Chrollo Lucilfer is considered to be an INTJ anime character on the anime HxH, because he is an enigma, and this is something many people may associate with the typical INTJ personality, because they are not likely to share things readily and it may take them a very long time to come out of their shells.

This INTJ anime character from Hunter x Hunter is the leader of the Phantom Troupe, which refers to an infamous band of thieves, but no one seems to know anything about his past, which again, might be something that you may feel about the INTJ you have known for years.

As any true INTJ personality with an inferior feelings function, Chrollo keeps his distance from even his subordinates but still maintains their trust, which probably might have something to do with his considerable expertise.

Chrollo best fits into the INTJ personality type because of his significant traits of independence and driven attitude to life, and because of his introverted intuition function he’s great at finding patterns and looking toward the future.

One last attribute of this INTJ anime character is that he tends to play his cards close to the chest but he knows exactly what he’s doing, again, possibly because of the extroverted thinking function.

INTJ Anime Test

There aren’t really any INTJ anime tests, but one may take the 16 personalities test on the MBTI website, and they may then visit websites like Personality database to see what some of the anime characters with those personality types might be.

INTJ anime characters are relatively rare, likely because this personality type itself is quite rare, but there are still many INTJ characters you may relate to, if you are in fact an INTJ.

One might also want to consider looking towards forums to talk to like-minded people who are into the discussion of MBTI personality types and anime characters, and it is possible to get some great insight there that may rival any possible INTJ anime test.

INTJ Anime Characters Naruto

Here are some of the INTJ anime characters on Naruto:

  • Black Zetsu
  • Disonasu
  • Furido
  • Gennō “Trap Master”
  • Goji
  • Hyūga Elder
  • Indra Ōtsutsuki
  • Itachi Uchiha (Evil Alter Ego)
  • Manda
  • Rōshi

While all these characters display some great INTJ anime character traits, there is one character on Naruto that shows more INTJ anime character traits than anyone else, and that is Sasuke.

Sasuke, like most other INTJ anime characters both on Naruto and on other shows, is calm and collected, cold and calculating, and he is able to think clearly without letting anything cloud his judgment.

Side Note: I have tried and tested various products and services to help with my anxiety and depression. See my top recommendations here, as well as a full list of all products and services our team has tested for various mental health conditions and general wellness.

Sasuke is an Uchiha, and it has been presumed that these people pass down more than just their powerful eyeballs because this personality type runs rampant throughout the Uchiha clan, and INTJ anime characters are more common in this clan than in any other.

Sasuke really, truly wants to be of use, and he cannot stand to feel incompetent or not smart or useful enough.

Sasuke, like any other INTJ anime character, has a tendency to be quiet and intuitive, and in a way that is almost obsessive, he likes to engage in organized thinking and structure, which may be due to the extroverted thinking function.

INTJs can often seem cold and dark because they rely far too heavily on logical thinking and not nearly enough on feelings, emotion, or abstract things, which are just as important to the human condition.

Sasuke, and all other INTJ anime characters, do not necessarily lack any sort of moral compass, it is just that they tend to question everything around them because of their tendency to find meaning in the symbolism of their world.

It may be possible that someone like Neji may look at a house and see wood, nails, concrete, but the intuitive and thinking oriented mind of Sasuke and other INTJ individuals or characters, may see the house and see a home, an architect curled over blueprints, a space for a family, a place to lose that family.
