'Legacies' Season 2 Release Date, Cast, Trailer, Plot: What Time Does 'Legacies' Come On?

After Legacies ended its last season with its main character sacrificing herself to save her friends, Season 2 is now airing on The CW, with some exciting changes planned at the Salvatore School.

The Legacies showrunner has teased that the cast for Season 2 will include some familiar faces from one the shows the series spun off from, The Originals, while the plot sees the students try to cope with life without Hope (played by Danielle Rose Russell). However, the trailer reveals that she may not be dead for long in the new season of the series from The Vampire Diaries universe.

What Time Does Legacies Season 2 Come On?

The second season of The CW show will start on Thursday, October 10 at 9 p.m. ET / 8 p.m. CT, after the premiere of the final season of Supernatural. Episodes will then air weekly on Thursday night.

Legacies Season 2 will have 20 episodes, four more than the previous season. After airing on The CW, these will be available to watch on the network's website and app, which hosts the previous five episodes on their catch-up service.

Netflix will get all 20 episodes of Season 2 just over a week after the season ends, which is likely to be some point in April 2020.

Who is in the Cast of Legacies Season 2?

The CW has confirmed that the following cast members will be returning:

  • Danielle Rose Russell as Hope Mikaelson
  • Jenny Boyd as Lizzie Saltzman
  • Kaylee Bryant as Josie Saltzman
  • Quincy Fouse as MG
  • Aria Shahghasemi as Landon Kirby

The Salvatore School will also have a new headmaster, Professor Verdemus (Alexis Denisof) and a new vampire student, Sebastian (Thomas Doherty).

Legacies showrunner Julie Plec also confirmed that some cast members of The Originals will be back. She told TV Guide: "I think there's going to be an opportunity this year to see some of the Originals…I don't know who and I don't know when, but the way that Hope's storyline is shaping up, there's definitely a link to the family that got left behind…that we will have to address at a certain point. And it would be nice to see a familiar face."

Earlier in October, The CW confirmed that one of these people form the past would be Hope's aunt Freya Mikaelson (Riley Voelkel), who will appear in Episode 6.

What Will Happen in Legacies Season 2?

According to the official CW plot synopsis: "Season 2 will show us a world without Hope Mikaelson and all the chaos that goes along with it. All the while, Hope will be trying to find her way back to the school she has learned to call home and the friends she has learned to love like family. It will be filled with new monsters and more romantic and emotional surprises than ever."

Plec told TVLine of the upcoming season: "There's a hint of a [dark] new force at the beginning of the season, and the mystery of who that new force is takes us all the way through the first chapter of the season into our midseason cliffhanger."

Is There a Trailer for Legacies Season 2?

The CW released a trailer for the season in October that gives fans a glimpse of what else will happen in the new episodes. The 30-second promo sees Josie and Lizzie worrying about whether they will survive the merge, while Landon feels something he cannot describe is missing from his life.

Legacies Season 4 News & Updates: Everything We Know

Legacies season 4 has been confirmed by the CW. Here's everything we know so far, including release date, story details, and returning cast.

Now that the CW has wrapped the third season ofLegacies here's what to expect from Legacies season 4, including the potential release date and story. The spinoff of The Vampire Diaries and The Originalsfurther follows the exploits of Hope Mikaelson (Danielle Rose Russell), the only known living tribrid (witch-werewolf-vampire), and her exploits to keep the Salvatore School safe from the monsters constantly emerging from the Malivore Pit.

The series has been on-air since 2018, but the most recent season has been the most challenging thanks to the coronavirus pandemic disrupting production. Legacies season 3 offered some major shake-ups for the show in the form of certain cast members departing, though whether for good or only temporarily remains to be seen, and others being given bigger roles.

The Legacies season 3 finale found Hope teaming up with the mysteriously now human Clarke to defeat Malivore–and possibly Landon, inadvertently. Landon and Cleo continued their journey away from Mystic Falls in order to also find another way to defeat Malivore. Hope and Clarke's locator spell led them to Landon and Cleo and the initially awkward meeting turned deadly when Landon almost killed Clarke. Later, it was revealed that once again, "Landon" wasn't Landon at all. This time, it was Malivore posing as Landon, which Alaric discovered when he found them in time to see Malivore-Landon swallow Cleo whole. MG and Kaleb, their friendship newly patched, were tasked by Alaric to track down Landon and Cleo. Meanwhile, Lizzie decided she would try to get Ethan interested in Hope so Hope could forget about Landon, only for Ethan to be interested in her. The finale ended with Alaric, MG, Kaleb, Josie, Lizzie and Hope confronting the now-caged Malivore. It was a lot of setup for next season. Here's everything to know about Legacies season 4.

Legacies Season 4 Renewal: Is It Happening?

Good news for fans of Legacies, as Legacies season 4 is indeed happening. The third season premiered in late January 2021, and just a few weeks later, in early February 2021, the CW announced that it was renewing the series for a fourth season. Legacies' ratings have been up and down the past few seasons. Still, the CW seems to be more lenient with the series considering Legacies seasons 2 and 3 were disrupted by the pandemic, and greenlit Legacies season 4 early in season 3.

Legacies Season 4 Cast

It is expected that all the old familiar faces who ended Legacies season 3 will return for next season: Danielle Rose Russell will return as Hope Mikaelson, Matt Davis as Alaric Saltzman, Kaylee Bryant and Jenny Boyd as Josie and Lizzie Saltzman, Quincy Fouse as Milton "MG" Greasley, and Chris Lee as Kaleb Hawkins. It's also expected that Ben Levin will continue to have an expanded role as Jed in Legacies season 4. Likewise, newcomer Courtney Bandeko is expected to return as Finch. Lastly, it's almost certain that Aria Shahghasemi's Landon Kirby and Omono Okojie's Cleo will return to Mystic falls in season 4. The question is whether Leo Howard's Ethan and Nick Fink's Ryan Clarke will also become series regulars.

Legacies Season 4 Release Date Info

With Hollywood's production and post-production settling back into a groove, Legacies season 4 will move back to its normal fall release. In June 2021, the CW set release dates and times for its fall slate. That includes Legacies season 4, which will premiere on Thursday, October 14, 2021, in its usual 9pm slot.

Legacies Season 4 Story Details

The Legacies season 3 finale set up a number of storylines for season 4, one of which is whether or not Hope will have to die in order to truly become the tribrid. Cleo finding a way out of Malivore is sure to be a major storyline. On the romantic relationship front, next season may finally resolve the will they/won't they dynamic that Lizzie and MG have had since season 1–or Ethan could further complicate things. And finally, the biggest question for Legacies season 4 to answer: What happened to the real Landon–and if he's still alive, will Landon and Hope rekindle their relationship?
