    Legion priest bodyguards

    I was looking around for the priests bodyguards, and I found 2. Sol and zarba hexx.

    I was wondering if anyone knows when and where we are able to obtain both followers. For example you can get one of the hunter bodyguards doing the nemesary q's in highmountain. I did hear zabra hexx is obtainable in aszuna, but not where exactly.

    Anyone knows where these 2 bodygaurds are situated, and if they can be picked up during leveling?

  • 2016-08-29, 05:49 AM#2

    I'm fairly sure every class will get at least 1 bodyguard available during the leveling process once you hit 101/102 as that's when the class hall campaigns starts to kick in. For priest, I believe Sol is the first one you get.

    Zabra you get early on, i can't remember exactly but either around 103 or around 106. You don't get Sol until 110. But i can say for certain i used Zabra while leveling.

    You'll get Zabra during the 103 Order Hall Quest - but if you level in one sitting - you will at best have him for the last zone - as 101 locks you into a 4 hour mission that you have to complete to continue the campaign.

    Sol is available at 105, but requires 5 days of order hall missions.

    You get a cooldown ability that you can add to your hotbar when you add a combat ally

    I've used one of those before (was very underwhelming) so I switched to a bodyguard that I thought was supposed to help you in battle. I tried hitting the hotkey I set for the combat ability too and that did nothing. Apparently, my friend had the same issue with his warlock bodyguard and he had to remove him then reassign him then he showed up at some point later but not right away. Very weird.

    That being said, what do you guys think of its output? It mediocre/low side, though currently mine is only common quality. Not sure if that will increase output.

    What I absolutely love about it, is that you can fade and the mobs will hit the bodygaurd. Seeing how all mobs do decent damage towards you. Pretty nice

    I haven't tested output for Priests yet but my Monks bodyguard contributes ~25% DPS. I'd guess it's similar for Priests.

    In both cases the bodyguards i'm using are ~103 while I'm 110 in both cases. Once they reach 110 and get weapon/armour slots I'd guess their DPS would become substantial.

    I like Sol. I feel his damage contribution. However, bodyguards tend to keep one in combat for much longer than is reasonable (IMO) when simply running from mobs I do not wish to engage (damn you Dazed effect!), so I have no qualms putting him on a mission if I'm doing a bunch of quests back to back with a lot of running around.

    The spriest bodyguard uses (and says) Surrender to Madness then promptly dies afterwards. All the bodyguards res a few seconds after they die though which is nice so you dont have to babysit them or worry about them.

    Comparing purely Zabra to Sol, I have no idea what the former is doing. Yeah, sure, he casts all those dots, void bolts and pretends he's doing a good job, but the final result is terrible. I don't think I saw him exceed 15% of my dps as Shadow. Also, his sw confuses my dot tracking addons, since it somehow counts as "mine".

    Sol has no such issues - if his dps is low, it's because he's saving my ass with his heals, so I still saved a couple gcd's on Shadowmend. It's hardly a huge heal, but sometimes every little bit helps.

    Sometimes he disappears for world-quests which involve vehicles and things like that. You end up having to relog to make him re-appear. Would be nice to have a button like the garrison ability to call/dismiss him but i think that went whichever way the button to cancel mind control went.

    Which combat ally for Monk?

    As the command center got built on EU and I'm grabbing my free legendary champion equips, I'm facing a decision to commit to specific followers on specific classes, so I was wondering if there is a specific "sleeper OP" or preferred combat ally for Monks or are they just equal and matter of taste.

    In general, I much more prefer clicky button combat allies even if they're a bit weak in their role, but Monks have none, therefore I'm in a pinch. Was using Li Li so far.

    Chen is best paired with Li li on missions, so they are out.
    Taran Zhu randomly attacks anything in your general radius, pulling everything. So he is out

    I usually opt for Monkey. i can usually ignore is rhyming plus that 5+ sec stone beam he does is just OP. Sure he can come pack with bananas but that is not guaranteed, and I have Meatball which does the same thing. So I load Monkey up with +gold equipment so that I make 125g every WQ i take him on.

    Monkey or the new follower, Almai. I personally use Almai, just cause I like the chance at getting bananas from missions with the monkey, and I find his stun effect more annoying than useful.

    Also, as someone said above, Li Li is best paired with Chen, so I wouldn't use her. You're wasting their potential if you use one of them as a guardian.

    They all suck.

    Yes Taran Zhu and Monkey Kings stuns are nice...if youre a low ilvl. When youre high enough to big pull and aoe things down. Them randomly stunning things screws that up.

    If you pull anything while mounted, it will summon Taran Zhu and Lili wasting them.

    Taran Zhu summons if youre hit by a gentle breeze. Which is not helpful when your orbs deep in suramar.

    Chen can only tank one mob at a time, and if youre above 850 ilvl, you will pull off of him.

    Lili has 2 issues with combat. First, she summons the little dragon. If youre about to die, you will be dead before she starts healing. If she summons too soon, it will waste her healing.

    Almai is the only one who is somewhat useful. She uses vivify as a bodyguard, which she casts randomly if youre being damage, and has no cd it cant be wasted. She does both single target and aoe damage, and you can turn her into a support role if youre in a place you dont want her potentially fighting. She does not spaz out at the wind either like Taran Zhu does.

    All of our bodyguards kind of suck, compared to other classes with godly bodyguards like the new Hunter one. Even Almai hardly does anything but Breath of Fire occasionally.

    Chen is powerful standalone, one of the few champions that has +15% to 2 types of counters which means will pop nearly always (other 2 being Kalec on Mage and Allari on DH, not sure if any more exist), thing is why would I slap Li Li on a mission she doesn't counter anything just to get that +20% when I can put a greater troop that will give me +30%/+40% (yes I have the enlightenment perk), also sometimes the mission requires breath of fire so I need to put a different champion to counter it, esp. if cursed.

    You could argue that Li Li carries equipment slots so is worth more than a troop, but equipments aren't tremendously good unless the mission is either >8h or <4h or you still put a troop in there (troop equipment) which means you don't put a breath of fire if a mission needs it, or a second brewmaster that will up the success chance on his own.

    In that aspect for example the new Paladin follower Maximillian is way more flexible because he has +20% chance when paired with any other paladin champion, not just specific one like Li Li + Chen.

    The fact you can't split them to use the bonus makes it cumbersome enough for me to not want to bother and rather use Almai for missions rather than Li Li if we compare mistweavers. Almai bonus can range from very weak 5% to as much as 30% (maybe even 35% if you use Celestial troop instead of seal, if he's like Ancient of War on druid and has 4hp), but doesn't lock my other champions from being sent wherever I please.

    For the same reason I hate the passive on one of the hunter champs can't remember the name atm, it's a BM hunter that only gets bonus if paired with another BM hunter, very restrictive, as you probably will have only 2 BM champions total and you might want to send 2 different missions that require a BM hunter...

    Almai is the best and not because she has cool abilities, it's because she's useless otherwise. The monkey king, Chen and Li Li all offer better chances of success on missions than she does due to the syncing ability Chen and Li Li have, MK brings back bananas to increase mission success chances as well.

    As for Taran Zhu, he's worse than all of them, randomly stunning things you're not even in combat with gets annoying after the first few times.

    Table of Contents

    Champions are essentially lore figures that have been recruited through your order hall campaign to join your forces. You can use them for the following:

    • sending them out to complete class hall missions;
    • recruiting them as combat allies to help you fight in the Broken Isles.

    Every class has their own separate set of champions, since they are all related to lore. There are at least 9 champions in total for each class, but only 5 can be active, unless using order hall advancements to increase this limit. As with the garrison followers in Warlords of Draenor, you must deactivate your excess champions if you wish to start a mission and you have over your limit of active champions. If you wish to reactivate them, you can pay 250 gold to activate one per day.

    1.

    How Do I Get My Champions?

    All the champions will come from the order hall campaign; as soon as you complete the first set of quests after gaining 325 artifact power, you will receive your first set of champions.

    After you reach level 103, you will be able to return to your order hall and complete a second quest chain for the campaign, which will allow you to unlock two more champions.

    The rest of your champions will come from naturally completing the order hall campaign. The exception to this is followers that are found outside of the campaign, such as Meatball, who is obtained by completing a quest chain after killing a boss at the Brawler's Guild and is recommended for all classes.

    In subsequent sections, you will find a full list of Champions for each class that can be obtained in-game, as well as the best setup for each class.

    The best setup for Death Knight would be to use Darion, Koltira, Minerva, Nazgrim, Thassarian, Thoras and Meatball.

    2.

    How do I gear my champions?

    Champions have the option to unlock equipment slots as they level and grow in rarity (in the same way followers did in garrisons); once a champion hits rare quality, they will unlock their first equipment slot. The second slot is unlocked as soon as they hit epic quality. The final slot will be unlocked when you level your followers from epic to titled quality.

    In order to prepare them for battle, you will need to find some champion equipment to arm them with. You can find it through the following means:

    • missions in your order hall;
    • treasures;
    • world quests;
    • emissary quest rewards;
    • Class Order Hall advancements;
    • purchasing it on the Broken Shore.

    The items that are available in-game fall under a number of categories; they each have a different impact on a different part of the mission process.

    2.1.

    Success Chance Equipment

    The first category is equipment that impacts the success chance of missions, depending on their duration. There are three types in this category:

    • the equipment increases the success chance of all missions by a set amount;
    • the equipment increases the success chance of missions that are shorter than 4 hours;
    • the equipment increases the success chance of missions that are longer than 8 hours.

    2.2.

    Mission Duration Equipment

    The second category is equipment that reduces the time required to complete a mission. There is only one type in this category and it is a flat reduction in mission time.

    2.3.

    Follower Affinity Equipment

    The third category of equipment looks at affinity between different types of followers. You can equip your champion with items that will increase the success chance of a mission depending on the other troops available for the mission. Each class has a different set of items that is specific to their order hall. There are 2 types in this category:

    • the equipment increases success chance by a set amount when the champion is accompanied by lesser troops;
    • the equipment increases success chance by a set amount when the champion is accompanied by greater troops.

    2.4.

    Combat Ally Equipment

    The next category is equipment that is only useful when a champion is being used as your Combat Ally. The next section will further discuss what a Combat Ally is, but for now, the equipment will increase the rewards you get from World Quests when fighting with your Combat Ally. There are two types of equipment:

    • the equipment increases your order resource reward when completing World Quests;
    • the equipment increases your gold reward when completing World Quests.

    2.5.

    Consumables

    There are consumables that can be used to buff your champions and troops when preparing them for missions. There are 3 different effects that can be applied to your followers, depending on which class you play:

    • Death Knight, Monk, Paladin, and Rogue: the equipment will increase the success chance of a single mission by 20%.
    • Demon Hunter, Druid, Mage, Priest, Shaman, Warlock: the equipment will restore 1 vitality to a single troop;
    • Warrior: the equipment will summon a squad of Valarjar Aspirants to aid your champion.

    2.6.

    Legendary Equipment

    The legendary equipment is slightly different from the others, since it cannot be obtained as easily as the others. It has much more powerful effects and often combines two of the effects that are listed above. There are the following types.

    3.

    What Is A Combat Ally?

    When recruiting your champions, certain ones have the ability to accompany you around the zones of the Broken Isles. Similar to how a bodyguard in Warlords of Draenor would work, they give you a slight edge over the mobs you are killing in the open world. They cannot be taken into most instanced areas, but will help you whenever you are in the open world. There are three types of combat ally.

    • An NPC will follow you around and engage in combat with you, casting their spells and abilities to make sure they kill the mobs as fast as possible. As your gear progresses, so too will the combat ally's stats. They become more powerful as you do, but note that they can and will die. Unlike the bodyguard system in Warlords of Draenor, however, the combat allies have a very short respawn timer.
    • Rather than appearing as an NPC, the combat ally can also appear as a spell. There are two forms which the combat ally can take in spells:
      • a spell that will proc when criteria are met, such as hitting an enemy or taking an amount of damage;
      • a spell that can be cast via an extra action button that has a cooldown between uses.

    3.1.

    How do I get a combat ally?

    In order to select a combat ally, you need to find a champion that has a specific combat ally ability. You can see who can function as a combat ally or bodyguard in our table of all champions above. Once you have obtained one of the marked champions, head top your scouting map. You can then access the combat ally section via the mission UI. It will cost you 50 Order Resources IconOrder Resources to assign your champion to become a combat ally.

    They cannot go on any missions while assigned as a combat ally, nor can they have any equipment added to them. They do, however, gain experience with each world quest you complete when using them as a combat ally.

    Since patch 7.2, the best strategy is to split your champions' specs and counter types evenly. This allows you to keep your 7th champion as a full-time Combat Ally.

    As the counter types needed for all missions are now around equal, you will generally get the best results by splitting your champions evenly with 2 of each spec and 2 of each type. Long missions (more than 8 hours) are still more common than short missions.

    Note: this is a guide to getting high mission success rates from your champions. You may find other configurations that give similar or better results, but these listed suggestions are simple to follow and should give the best results for the majority of players.

    Champion Equipment

    Auspicious FetishIncreases success chance of missions by 15%.

    Sanity EdgeIncreases success chance of missions by 20% when accompanied by Tier 2 troops.

    Lucky DoodadIncreases success chance of missions by 10%.

    Bottled SanityIncreases success chance of missions by 15% when accompanied by Tier 2 troops.

    In general, for the first two slots you'll want to have the [+20% with T2 troops] item and the [+15% to all missions] item.

    For the third slot, we recommend either the [+15% with T2 troops], or [+10 to all]. The [+10% to all] will pull ahead if you find you're not using the T2 troops fairly often.

    Other options are the +40% to short (Elixir of Overwhelming Focus) and +40% to long (Vial of Timeless Breath) items which have more situational usefulness, but you'll often find yourself more limited in which champions to use for certain missions.

    If you're lucky enough to get a legendary item with [+15% to all missions], definitely use that as a third item.

    Combat Ally

    We recommend using Meatball as your combat ally for your 7th champion, as he's a great bodyguard in the Broken Isles.

    He'll drop orbs that give you a stacking damage buff up to 50% increased damage, and also will occasionally execute your targets when they're under 20%, killing them instantly in a pool of blood.

    The teacher could not contain a groan of pleasure, which escaped her trembling lips in acknowledgment of submission. The stack was already just sliding. Its entire surface glistened from the lubrication of a woman who was excited to the limit. Alina seemed to have stepped over some kind of inner barrier in herself, behind which an abyss of pleasure opened up.
