What Happens at 15 DPO (Days Past Ovulation)

For a couple who is trying to get pregnant, the two-week wait period can be filled with anxiety. But the good news is that around two weeks or 15 days past ovulation, you may be able to know whether or not you are pregnant. When the time comes, you will want to know what exactly happens at this stage, and lucky you, we’ve all the information you need!

What Is 15 DPO?

If you are trying for a baby and your periods are regular, you will probably miss your period somewhere around 15 days past ovulation. (A missed period is considered as one of the first pregnancy symptoms.) When a woman is pregnant her body starts producing considerable amounts of human chorionic gonadotropin hormones (hCG). The presence of this hormone will confirm whether or not you are pregnant. Therefore, taking a pregnancy test around this time can increase the likelihood of getting a positive result (if a woman is pregnant).

15 Days Past Ovulation Symptoms

At 15 days past ovulation, you may either be close to having your periods or you may be pregnant, well, in either case, the symptoms that you may experience will be more or less the same. However, if you pay heed to your symptoms, you may be able to tell them apart and know that what you may be experiencing could be pregnancy symptoms. Here are some 15 DPO symptoms that may indicate pregnancy:

  1. Bleeding or Spotting: If you experience spotting or bleeding 15 DPO, it could be implantation bleeding that usually occurs 10 to 14 days after the process of conception. Some women may find it difficult to differentiate between implantation bleeding at 15 DPO or period bleeding, the easiest way to tell them apart is by observing the intensity. This means bleeding that may just appear like a tinge on your toilet paper or underpants, could be implantation bleeding.
  2. Changes in Breasts: Your breasts may become swollen and tender to touch. Even the dark area around your nipples, known as areola, may become darker than usual. These symptoms appear because of the hormonal changes happening in your body.
  3. Exhaustion and Fatigue: Another prominent pregnancy symptom that can be experienced at this stage is fatigue and exhaustion. This occurs because of the increased amounts of progesterone in the body. Your body also starts producing more blood to support your growing fetus, this phenomenon can also lead to feelings of tiredness and fatigue.
  4. Nausea: You may experience nausea and vomiting during this time, which may also become extremely discomforting. This happens because of the boom in pregnancy hormones. However, there have been no clear reasons as to why this symptom occurs during pregnancy but it is experienced by the majority of women.
  5. Headaches: Increased amounts of pregnancy hormones may lead to headaches and pains, which is a very normal and common pregnancy sign. However, as your body adjusts to the changing hormones in your body, these aches and pain will slowly fade away.A woman having a headache
  6. Frequent Urination: Your trips to the bathroom may increase as you will have the urge to urinate frequently. Increased hCG levels are to be blamed for this pregnancy symptom.
  7. Cramping: You may experience cramping at this stage, though this cramping is quite different than what you experience during your periods. Cramping at this stage is because of the increased blood flow to your uterus that will support the growing fetus.
  8. A Heightened Sense of Smell: Have you suddenly started noticing experiencing weird smells. This could possibly be one of the early pregnancy symptoms. The reason for the same is still not known, however, it is usually accredited to increased pregnancy hormones.
  9. Increased BBT or Basal Body Temperature: Your basal body temperature increases during ovulation and goes down again when you have your period. However, if you become pregnant then the basal body temperature remains high because of the increased amount of progesterone and estrogen in the body at this stage. Thus, a high BBT at this stage could be a sign of pregnancy.

What Does it Mean When You Get a Negative Result at 15 Days Past Ovulation and No Period?

Well, for most women missing their period is often considered as one of the first indications that they are pregnant. However, if you get a big fat negative result and no period, you should not conclude that you’re not pregnant. The results can be negative if the hCG levels are low in the body, which becomes difficult to get detected in a pregnancy test and thus a negative result. If you do not get your periods for a few more days, it will be a good idea to take the test again after some time. In the case of pregnancy, the hCG hormone levels will rise considerably and will get detected in a pregnancy test.

However, if you don’t get your periods and you keep getting a negative result when on a home pregnancy test, you should visit your health care provider. Though it is a rare occurrence, however, sometimes home pregnancy kits may not be able to detect a pregnancy. And it’s best to consult a doctor who can confirm whether or not you are pregnant by conducting a blood test.

What Does a Faint Line on a Pregnancy Test Indicate at 15 Days Past Ovulation?

A two-week period or 15 days past ovulation is usually considered a good time to take a pregnancy test and, in most cases, you may get a big fat negative result even if you are pregnant. However, some women may notice a faint line appearing on their pregnancy test, which may make them wonder about their test result! Well, a faint line in most cases is due to the presence of low hCG levels in the urine and if you take a test again after a few days the lines may become darker because of the increased levels of hCG levels.

However, in other cases, a faint line could also be an evaporation line. The evaporation line on a pregnancy test can appear if the test sits out for a longer duration than what is mentioned on the label. This means that if you take a test and a faint line appears within the time provided by the manufacturer, there are high chances that you are pregnant, but, if a faint line appearing after the test has been kept out for a long time, it is just an evaporation line.

You may experience various symptoms at this stage; however, your symptoms alone may not be a clear sign of pregnancy as sometimes it could be signs of impending periods. The best thing would be getting in touch with a doctor and getting a blood test done to get an accurate result.

So I can feel it in my gut that this month isn't my month so I am just writing down my symptoms to keep for my records. It's so hard to distinctly tell the difference between AF signs and PG signs. My AF signs are SO strong and always have been so if I ever fall pregnant, it's going to be so hard to tell.

1 Day before O, I went to the doctor that morning due to chronic migraines and my temperature was SKY HIGH. It was if I remember and my heart rate was when it should normally be between my doctor said. He also said my body is fighting off something so he prescribed antibiotics that I didn't even end up taking. He thought maybe another sinus infection but it ended up being chronic migraines. I go see a neurologist next week and maybe a CT scan if I don't fall pregnant. I was told to basically stay away from work the whole week.

My app "Flo" believes I ovulated on February 7th but not too sure how accurate that was. I had all of the cramps that day and the cm so I'm 90% sure I did. Anyone else use that app?

DPO I was on bed rest and didn't do much. I had migraines for a week straight, it was terrible. But other than that, I didn't have any symptoms. I did notice that my pee was very, very strong. Even after drinking tons of water.

DPO - Cramps, eggwhite/watery CM, backaches started to kick in, on 9 DPO I was getting a light brown/red discharge as I wiped, none on underwear - in the morning but it subsided in the afternoon. I also had TERRIBLE bloating that today and was super tired. By this time before my period, I normally get really sore boobs but didn't feel really anything? This was a week before AF was due so that was weird. Also normally get extreme acne too but my face till this day (15 DPO) is still glowing. I also got spells of nausea here and there but nothing out of ordinary. My DH did notice that some dinners I wasn't eating that well and wouldn't finish my plate as I was so bloated. My cramps were different to AF though, they weren't so tight but they were weird sharp pains all in my pelvic area, especially around my hips.

10 DPO - I got a somewhat BFP on my lunch break but I'm guessing it might have been an EVAP as I got a negative that night around pm. Here is the link for the picture of the BFP or evap line. - http://www.twoweekwait.com/node/

11 & 12 DPO - Noticed my boobs starting to hurt now, probably AF sign. But noticing some really distinct blue veins in my boobs and behind nipples. My DH noticed Montgomery Tubercles forming on my nipples, they were there before but he said he's never seen them this big before. Got my hopes up with this sign.

DPO - Tested again on 14 DPO with afternoon urine after peeing quite a bit that morning and got a BFN. Noticed an increase in appetite in these 3 days and needing to again pee A LOT.

15 DPO - Feeling a lot of pressure and a somewhat burning sensation when I pee so this is a sign for me that AF is going to make an appearance. I've kind of made up my mind that this month is not mine but is there any chance that I could possibly be pregnant? These signs have been a very emotional rollercoaster for us because my DH really thinks I'm pregnant. Should I wait to test again? Keep in mind I haven't used FMU yet.

Trying to Get Pregnant

New Discussion

I know, I know. No symptom spotting. But some people (like myself) like to pass the tww by reading into pregnancy stuff, including symptoms. I've been charting, temping, testing and after 15 dpo I finally got 2 bfps today and thought I'd share my symptoms for others who are just looking to pass the time.
dpo: not much going on.
dpo: twinge in my lower abdomen for 2 days, felt like I was constantly being poked in the same spot.

dpo: slight cramps, no appetite, no interest in coffee (major difference) breasts start getting a little sensitive and I'm getting ready for af to show.

dpo: feeling pretty tired by now, sore throat, appetite is back but I'm getting majorly nauseous after every meal, constipated, cramps, vivid dreams about being pregnant, breasts are getting much more sensitive, partner noticed on day 13 that breasts were becoming more veiny. Kept feeling wet like I started my period but it was just cm. first positive test on night

15 dpo: almost didn't test, woke up feeling fine, tested anyways and got my 2nd bfp, notice that instead of peeing every hour I'm start to have to go every minutes, waves of nausea throughout the day, appetite is growing, dull cramping on my one side all day long.

I know symptom spotting can just set yourself up for dissapoontment, but this time I just felt "this is really it" and it helps to keep track of symptoms and it's comforting to know that others might be experiencing something similar. So, hope that others will join in.

Even no, I'm a bitch, Tonight I'll be a real, lascivious bitch. I didn't know how to behave. The situation was resolved by his wife. She jumped up sharply, I saw how she pulled off her nightie completely, threw it at me, and literally exhaled: -Dear, I beg you not to be. Jealous now, okay.
