Can anyone give me the dimensions of the crate that the Mosin 91/30's come in? Also how are they packed, is it in such a way the crates have to stay flat or can they be turned on their side?

March 24th, 2013, 06:53 PM

They have accessories and bayonets that will fall around and possibly damage the rifles. The actual rifles would be fine if it was tipped on its side. Will take measurements Ina few minutes for you.

March 24th, 2013, 06:57 PM

The rifles wont move around though?

You never seen yellowsled basement have you ?:D

March 24th, 2013, 07:12 PM

The rifles will be secure, but I would def take the bayonets out of the crate or there will be carnage on the rifles. I would also take out the accessories if possible as they will get thrown around but should not damage the rifles.

I need another (empty) crate Brian, so if you get a lead on one please let me know.

March 24th, 2013, 11:21 PM

That's just our range ammo. We keep the good stuff for bedframes.

March 24th, 2013, 11:31 PM

On a more serious note, it's nice how they just have a pile of Igla missiles chillin there. If we had someone leave Stingers laying around like that, they would be getting ripped a new one.

    bet it would still be cheaper than 149 total?

    i dont get what is so special about them. its a wood box that held rifles.... no idea why it would be 149 dollars?

    sure they are neat and the russian writing on them is cool but to me not 149 dollars of cool IMO

    yeah we had a thread going to pitch in and buy one had everything planed out then they went out of stock.

    then when they came back everyone had already gotten a cheaper M91/30 from dunhams.

    I haven't seen this happen this year, I bought my Mosin in January for $140 and the guy at the counter said come back when they are on sale for a price adjustment... price adjusted alright, up to $180... I would love to pick up 1 or 2 more but only at the $100 price.

    Well it's been a few weeks, but I'm still hot about my recent dealings with The Mosin Crate, so I felt like I should let others know before they also get lured in.

    I purchased the East German SSG-82 sniper rifle, one of the most expensive guns I've ever seen him offer (over $2,000).

    Now, BEFORE I agreed to purchase this, (as soon as it was advertised), I did my due-diligence and asked the condition of the bore and if the scope matched the rifle. I got the following answer, again, prior to me purchasing or it being officially up for sale;

    "Not sure on the scope, everything is at the office in the safe.
    The optics are clear, bore is excellent. Shot it today and while she was not sighted in she did perfect."

    Note "the bore is excellent."

    So here is what I got;

    ^ now I'm not claiming to be an expert in all things guns, but that bore looks like $H!T

    So I politely let him know about the issue and also offered to attempt to clean it, to see if it cleaned up;

    "Picked up the SSG82 today from my LGS. Beautiful rifle, but looking down the bore there is definitely some rusting going on which is a concern - not the excellent bore I was hoping for. See attached photo. I thought I'd make you aware before I make any attempts to clean it out.
    Let me know your thoughts."

    Now here is where it starts to get "interesting"

    "Clean it out and let me know. If you don't want it please send it back and I'll refund you/keep for myself. :) "

    I proceeded to clean the bore and it did not clean up...

    "Spent an hour or so and it cleaned up a bit, still has some rusting that I wasn't able to get out (see attached pictures). Appears to mainly effect the last few inches of the muzzle end, but had to say for sure being such a small bore."

    "Glad to see it cleared up. I'm not seeing the brown in the picture but that could just be my cell.
    Anyhow I hope she serves you well and again apologize it arrived needing to have the bore cleaned."

    "Can't say I'm overly pleased. Also showed two buddies this morning who both agreed that it was no where near excellent."

    "Sorry to hear my grading does not meet your standards.  Please send the item back in the same condition received(beyond the rust of course which again I apologize for you receiving it like that) and I'll give you a full refund of original amount paid including the original shipping/insurance."

    ^ his "grading does not meet" my standards?!?! Oh come on!! That bore is not "excellent"!!!! Massive kick in the nuts here.

    "Do you have a shipping label you can send me? I'll obviously be out the $40 transfer fee and don't want to be out another $40 some dollars on shipping. I will have UPS return the ammo to sender, as I have not yet accepted delivery of that."

    "I'm going to be out $100+ for shipping/insurance for an item that 8 other people wanted to buy and I was told I sold for 1000 under value.. I'm not trying to be rude here but the bore was mirror when I sent it out. You have shown me pictures of rust and I highly doubt you went out and shot it and did not clean it for that to happen in the short time you've had it but again it was not shipped like that and I'm offering a refund of the original amount, that's all I can offer at this time."

    I sent tracking info in next email (cost $70 to ship with insurance).

    "I'll let you know when it gets here and will process refund asap.
    In the meantime I know we won't be doing business again but figured I'd link these to you since the one you got from me was not up to expectations." (links Gunbroker auctions with higher asking prices, almost as if to say " it was still a good deal even with the bore issue")

    If he couldn't verify the scope was matching to the gun (because the rifle was "in the safe") how could he verify the bore was "excellent"?

    Also, there were 3 subtle attempts by him to persuade me to keep it - "keep for myself", "sold for 1000 under value", and gunbroker links. Not cool in my book, ticked me off just as bad as the original issue.

    Now don't get me wrong, mistakes can/do happen! But it's about how you handle them, which shows the true intent/character of a business/person.

    He claimed that he went out and shot the rifle - the gun shipped along with 2 full boxes of ammo...what I THINK happened (100% assumption), is that he shot some cheap mil surplus corrosive ammo through it and forgot to clean it or didn't clean it properly, leading to the issue...or he just never looked at the bore and assumed it to be excellent.

    Should I be the one out over $100 because of a glaring error in the condition?? Don't you think that someone dropping $2k on a gun, would be someone you want to keep as a customer (wasn't the first time I bought from him either)? Obviously he has very little desire to keep his customers, he flat out told me not to buy from him again - which is fine at this point. However leading up to that point, if the issue would have been handled correctly, I would have had no issues buying from him again....maybe even more so.

    I learned my lesson, BUYER beware! Even if you ask and get a verbal response, make sure you get pictures if you cannot see it in person!! Pictures = 1,000 words!!!

    Crate the mosin

    Then I got up and looked closely at me. And you really think I am beautiful and sexy. - she asked quietly, without looking away. Yes. Of course.

    Jericho 941 Pistols - The Israeli CZ75?

    About two weeks ago, she broke up with her boyfriend and, as her friend was sure, sat depressed. So she dragged Olya with her to the party. Say: "Grow and find yourself a boy!" Olga didn't find the boy, but she ran into me. The glass of beer turned into a bottle of wine, which we drank while sitting in the corner of the room, exchanging life stories.

    This girl attracted me first of.

    Now discussing:

    What do you think. If you screwed up a bone - return it, did not return it - so you will be bullied with a whole pack of dogs. All by concepts. Dropped dogs (like people in the zone) are not respected - everyone barks at them, rushes and urinates on occasion.
