CHEMIST (Former Employee) - Vandenberg AFB, CA - April 20, 2016
Mission driven 8 hour day, with occasional overtime when needed for supporting a mission critical space launch or a base flight line fuel support. Very diversified group of scientist and specialized technicians that overlapped each other's testing responsibilities. Very bureaucratic management style, but that's to be expected when working in a chain of command. A high precision of accuracy was expected on every result released for every customer. For the most part, everyone was always training each other with new state of the art analytical testing methods for each aerospace fuel specification.
The most enjoyable part of the job was to witness mission huge Delta IV, Atlas V rockets that either put unclassified and classified satellites into various earth orbits or a NASA deep space exploration mission.
I am honored to have be chosen to serve as a USAF Chemist.
Pros
Great retirement benefits.
Cons
Government dress rehearsal redundancy can sometimes get on your nerves.
