Focusing the Eye Quest: How to Complete in WoW Shadowlands

This weekend is set to have one of the first major Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl tournaments since the game’s release, but one character won’t be joining in on the action.

At Super Smash Con this weekend, All-Star Brawl will have an event with a $10,000 prize pool up for grabs. The events director Michael Brancato shared the rules for this tournament on social media today, and one of the most notable points was the banning of Michelangelo.

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles star has been widely renowned as the most powerful character in the game to date, largely due to the overpowered combinations that only this fighter is capable of doing.

Pro Super Smash Bros. player Armada chimed in on the discussion around the banning of Michelangelo, explaining that the Ninja Turtle is the best character in the game right now due to his range, slow fall time, and ability to convert zero-to-deaths with a single grab or nair.

Along with Michelangelo’s ban, jab locks are also banned stopping players from using fighters capable of sticking opponents in infinite jab loops. These characters themselves haven’t been banned, though, just the practice of executing more than five jabs back-to-back.

While Michelangelo might be out for this tournament, perhaps with future patches things will be toned down and the Ninja Turtle can return to competitive play in the near future.

The Eye of the Jailer Strategy Guide for Sanctum of Domination

Ready Check Pull Video

Strategy Guide: Quick Version

In Phase One:

In Phase Two:

Strategy Guide: Full Guide

This fight alternates between two phases:

  • Phase One where you are fighting the Eye itself;
  • Phase Two where you are fighting two super spread out adds.

Phase Two happens every 33% of the Eye's health, so you have to do it twice, and then the final Phase One has a bit of an enrage.

Before pulling, split your raid group into two equal halves, with a tank and healers in each half. This is for Phase Two later on. Assign one half to go to the left side of the platform when Phase Two starts, while the other goes to the right.

In Phase One, there are a couple of big mechanics to deal with.

  • The first is the add, which is actually only on heroic. When someone gets targeted with a white circle, several players should stack inside of that circle. Everyone in the circle will then get chained to the add, which tries to pull them off the front of the platform (Dragging Chains IconDragging Chains). The more people you have in the circle, the slower the pull is, but you should still run against the pull to avoid falling off the platform. After a few seconds, the add will get pulled down to the platform instead, a tank will need to pick it up, and then everyone should quickly cleave it down. The tanks need to taunt swap on this add because it applies a stacking bleed, so they just need to keep their stacks as low as possible.(Assailing Lance IconAssailing Lance).
  • The second mechanic is the giant one-shot laser beam that the boss sweeps across the entire platform (Annihilating Glare IconAnnihilating Glare). Certain classes can use teleports or immunities to easily get to the other side of the beam, but everyone else will have to go the long way around. There are two grappling hooks at the very front of the platform that can be used once you are close enough to them to go flying across the gap to the other side.

And there are a couple smaller things to look out for in Phase One.

  • The tank needs to make sure to mitigate the Deathlink IconDeathlink cast from the boss, because it copies the damage they take to other people in the raid. And they need to taunt swap after every cast.
  • And everyone needs to dodge the random swirlies on the ground (Fracture Soul IconFracture Soul). If you get hit by one, your soul gets fractured, which means you take a ton of dot damage, move super slow, and do way less damage until you have run over your three soul fragments.

In Phase Two, two adds spawn, one on each side of the platform. And there are two main things you need to do: keep the adds over 55 yards apart from each other and kill them at the same. If you do not do both, they wipe you pretty quick with Suffering IconSuffering. So each half of your raid should go to their assigned side, kill their add, and keep an eye on the other add's health to make sure they will die at the same time.

Other than that, there are some smaller things to watch out for in Phase Two.

  • Keep dodging the random swirlies from Phase One.
  • Move away from the player that gets a circle around them. They will take damage themselves and also chain more damage to anyone else in the circle (Desolation Beam IconDesolation Beam).
  • Healers should dispel the Slothful Corruption IconSlothful Corruption debuff that goes on random players. Prioritize dispelling ranged dps and other healers, because the debuff slows casting and ranged attack speeds, as well as movement speed. So it affects melee a lot less.
  • And everyone should try not to stand close to the front edge of the platform. Random players will be dropping these bad pools on the ground, which are not a big deal, but you just do not want them in your way in phase one.

And finally, in the last Phase One, the boss enrages. This increases its attack speed, but more importantly, it pulses damage and a healing reduction every few seconds (Immediate Extermination IconImmediate Extermination). This is where you should use Bloodlust IconBloodlust/Heroism IconHeroism and nuke the boss before the healing requirement gets too crazy.

Thank you for checking out our guide on completing your Tempest Keep attunement! Located in western Netherstorm, Tempest Keep: The Eye is one of two raids released with Phase 2 of The Burning Crusade Classic. Spanning just four bosses long, The Eye is one of the shorter raids in The Burning Crusade, but don’t let that make you think it won’t be difficult! Before we can step foot inside, we’ll need to become attuned and the process is fairly lengthy, so, without further ado, let’s get going!

A Quick Note for Reference

This attunement process does require you to enter certain heroic dungeons, which means you will need certain faction reputations at Revered or higher. The heroic dungeons that you’ll visit:

  • Heroic Shadow Labyrinth
  • Heroic The Steamvault
  • Heroic Shattered Halls
  • Heroic Arcatraz

The factions required will be Lower City, Cenarion Expedition, Honor Hold/Thrallmar, and The Sha’tar.

First Fragment of the Cipher of Damnation

Second Fragment of the Cipher of Damnation

  • Pick up Ar’tor, Son of Oronok and head to Illidari Point to find Ar’tor, Son of Oronok
  • He will give you Demonic Crystal Prisons, which will have you kill Painmistress Gabrissa and loot Crystalline Key and then return to Ar’tor, Son of Oronok
  • Pick up Lohn’goron, Bow of the Torn-heart, which requires you to loot the Lohn’goron, Bow of the Torn-heart, which drops from demons around Illidari Point
  • Once you complete that task, you will receive The Cipher of Damnation – Ar’tor’s Charge, requiring you to loot Second Fragment of the Cipher of Damnation from Veneratus the May
  • After you loot the fragment, return to Ar’tor, Son of Oronok, and pick up The Cipher of Damnation – The Second Fragment Recovered, and return to Oronok Torn-heart

Third Fragment of the Cipher of Damnation

  • Oronok Torn-heart will provide you with the quest, Borak, Son of Oronok, so we’ll be headed to Eclipse Point to find Borak, Son of Oronok next
  • Borak, Son of Oronok will give you Of Thistleheads and Eggs…, which requires you to loot Rotten Arakkoa Egg from Arakkoa Egg in the area
  • Once you have looted the Rotten Arakkoa Egg, you’ll need to head to Shattrath City and speak with Tobias the Filth Gorger to collect the next quest, The Bundle of Bloodthistle. This quest sees you returning to Borak, Son of Oronok
  • Once The Bundle of Bloodthistle is turned in, Borak, Son of Oronok will give you To Catch A Thistlehead, requiring you to place Bundle of Bloodthistle at the end of a nearby bridge. You’ll wait for Blood Lord Zarath to interact with Envoy Icarius. Once Blood Lord Zarath is done and leaves, kill him and loot Stormrage Missive from Envoy Icarius
  • Once that is complete and handed in, you will receive The Shadowmoon Shuffle, which sees you killing Blood Elf enemies around Eclipse Point to loot six of Eclipsion Armor
  • Borak, Son of Oronok will then provide you What Illidan Wants, Illidan Gets…, which allows you to transform into a Blood Elf with Blood Elf Disguise. You are tasked with talking to Grand Commander Ruusk, and avoiding the dragonhawks, as they are able to see through your disguise
  • Upon completion, Borak, Son of Oronok will ask you to complete The Cipher of Damnation – Borak’s Charge. This is a quest that requires you to defeat Ruul the Darkener, an elite enemy who sits upon a drake, and loot Third Fragment of the Cipher of Damnation
    • This quest may require you to gather additional players to assist you, but there have been players who have been able to solo this enemy
  • The Cipher of Damnation – The Third Fragment will require you to return to Oronok Torn-heart

The Cipher of Damnation

  • Once you return to Oronok Torn-heart, you will be able to pick up The Cipher of Damnation, the final component in this chain. This quest sees you having to defeat another elite enemy, so a group is recommended
  • Use The Cipher of Damnation to summon Cyrukh the Firelord and defeat him
  • Once you successfully complete this quest you will receive Letter from Shattrath in your mail. This item allows you to continue onto the next part of the process to become attuned to Tempest Keep

The Four Trials

The first task to accomplish is to visit Khadgar in Shattrath City and pick up The Tempest Key, which will have you speak with A’dal and pick up the Trials quest chain

Trial of the Naaru: Mercy

This quest requires the player to enter The Shattered Halls on Heroic difficulty and complete it as quickly as possible as the main task here is to reach the Shattered Hand Executioner before he executes the prisoners. By successfully completing this task will have the executioner drop Unused Axe of the Executioner. Loot the axe and return to A’dal to turn in this quest and pick up the next one.

Trial of the Naaru: Strength

This quest requires the completion of two heroics, The Steamvault and Shadow Labyrinth. In The Steamvault on Heroic difficulty, we’ll want to ensure we defeat Warlord Kalithresh and loot Kalithresh’s Trident from him. Before or after you complete The Steamvault, we’ll need to defeat Murmur in Shadow Labyrinth on Heroic difficulty, and loot Murmur’s Essence from him. After both of these tasks are completed, return to A’dal to pick up the third trial.

Trial of the Naaru: Tenacity

This trial requires the player to enter and complete The Arcatraz on Heroic difficulty, ensuring they defeath Harbringer Skyriss. When Millhouse Manastorm is released from his cell, the group needs to ensure he does not die duuring the encounter. Once the boss is defeated, and you receive credit for saving Millhouse, return to A’dal and pick up the fourth and final trial.

Trial of the Naaru: Magtheridon

This trial requires the player to enter Magtheridon’s Lair and defeat him. Once you have successfully defeated Magtheridon, return to A’dal to receive both Phoenix-Fire Band and The Tempest Key!

Focusing the EYE: Is this quest Doable solo?

I watched several of the videos, and even heard from other people what to do, but until I saw this post I was confused.

As a Balance Druid, I made sure I had my three different heal spells on the bar, plus Convoke of the Spirits. I used one spear to bring an eye down, draw it away and ran counter-clockwise around. Stopped to fire off a few DPS, and ran again. Every now and then I would fire off a Rejuvenation to keep regenerating my HP. I try to avoid the white spirals. There is a time when I would get caught up in the white crosshairs. When that happens I run as far away as possible and in circles, stopping long enough to fire off a heal if needed. I break range and then I can go back to DPSing the small eye.

I also went back to my Oakheart set that supposedly has a Frenzied Regeneration, but I don’t think that worked in this scenario.

Got it done first try after reading this post. Thanks for it!

PS I apparently set this as my DH alt some time back, but I go through content with my NE Druid first after every patch/expansion.

Focusing the Eye is a quest part of a major storyline in WoW Shadowlands' newest patch, Chains of Domination.

Focusing the Eye Quest: How to Complete in WoW Shadowlands

Completing this quest will give you the passive ability Blind the Eye, completely negating the Eye of the Jailer debuff, a debuff that slowed down player progression slightly being a minor inconvenience.

Once you reach the Terminus platform as per the first objective of Focusing the Eye, don't bother fighting the eye itself, instead, take care of the trash mobs around the eye.

You will see spears scattered along the ground, walk over these and an action button will appear for you to interact with. Clicking the button will throw a spear at the eye's cohorts, dragging them down to the ground, allowing you to kill the adds.

Keep in mind, there will be deathly swirlies that come around you as you try and force the descent of the eye's minions, dodge these swirlies and you will be all set.

Repeat the spear hurling three times until the eye flees and the fight is complete!
