Bastrop County Tax Office
County tax assessor-collector offices provide most vehicle title and registration services, including:

- Change of Address on Motor Vehicle Records
- Non-fee License Plates such as Purple Heart and Disabled Veterans License Plates
- Disabled Parking Placards
- Copies of Registration Receipts
- Temporary Registration
Many counties allow you to renew your vehicle registration and change your address online. Some counties allow renewals at substations or subcontractors, such as participating grocery stores. Acceptable forms of payment vary by county.
Other locations may be available. Please contact your county tax office, or visit their Web site, to find the office closest to you.

Your assessor’s office is required by the Louisiana State Constitution to locate, identify and value each parcel in Morehouse parish. Our trained and certified staff work diligently to meet these requirements. We are required to value all REAL property (land and buildings) and PERSONAL BUSINESS ASSETS (machinery and equipment, furniture and fixtures, inventory and all oil and gas properties) for ad valorem tax purposes.

The Morehouse Parish Assessor is responsible for discovery, listing, and valuing all property in Morehouse Parish for ad valorem tax purposes. This property includes all Real Estate, all Business Movable Property (Personal Property), and all Oil & Gas Property and Equipment. The Assessor is responsible to the citizens of Morehouse Parish for ensuring all property is assessed in a fair and equitable manner. At the same time, the Assessor is responsible for ensuring that assessments are calculated according to the Constitution of the State of Louisiana and the Revised Statutes that are passed by the Legislature. In Louisiana, “Ad Valorem”, by value, is the method to calculate taxes. The Assessor does not establish the “taxes”. Taxes are approved by the voters in the form of millage propositions on the ballot.

Payment and Collection of Taxes
The Bastrop Central Appraisal District does not collect or receive property tax payments.

DEFERRAL OF TAX PAYMENTS –Tax Code Section 33.06 allows certain qualifying persons to defer payment of taxes on their residence homestead. It is recommended you contact the TAX OFFICEat (512) 581-7161 prior to filing the affidavit so you are informed of the qualifications and consequences of deferring payment of taxes. The Tax Deferral Affidavit for Age 65 or Older or Disable Homeowner is available here . The Tax Deferral Affidavit for Appreciating Residence Homestead Value is available here. Tax Deferral Affidavit’s are filed with the Appraisal District.
