Best Grinding Spots

This guide is about the top 10 places in Black Desert Online to go grinding in. The places on this list are arranged based on the most amount of money per hour that you can make. It also gives gear recommendations on what you should be on a minimum when you go grinding at these locations.

This test was done with pretty much max gear (300+ AP), so if you have the recommended AP you won’t get as much profit.

Recommended Grinding Spots For Newer Players

  • 100 AP: Nagas/Fogans
  • 160-170 AP: Polly’s Forest
  • 200 AP: Blood Wolves
  • 220 AP: Sherekhan Necropolis
  • 235 AP: Forest Ronaros

The reason we opt for the Blood Wolves/Sherekhan/Forest Ronaros is that the infinite potion pieces drop there.

Star’s End 261+ AP, 309+ DP

In this location, when you are at the highest end of the game like if you are at an efficient grinding class like a warrior or a mid-tier grinding class like a mystic with higher AP, you can get around 250 million silver per hour. Around 10k trash loot, you get an earring. The earrings you get go for around 300 million silver, which makes star’s end great for grinding. However, if the distortion earrings were to drop to below 250 million silver, Sycraia would be a better grind spot at that point.

Sycraia Underwater Ruins 269+ AP, 330+ DP

In Sycraia, you get around 230 million silver per hour. If distortions drop to around 250 million, that’s where Stars End and Sycraia even out. They are very similar in terms of money per hour that you can obtain, but based on the prices currently, Stars End is much better. Sycraia has more consistent money though. There is much less variable in drops in this area.

Abandoned Monastery 269+ AP, 330+ DP

In Abandoned Monastery, you can get about one earring per hour from this place. You also get about 225 million silver per hour at this place. The 330 is for the daytime. The mobs in this place hits very hard, and you may die at nighttime. So make sure that you follow the required AP and DP. You should also be careful when going to the Abandoned Monastery.

Kratuga 245+ AP. 309+ DP

Kratuga is a place that is unique. The money you get is mostly from rare drops because the rare drops are plenty in this area. You can get several different rare items here. The rare drops at this place will compensate for all the trash loot that you will get and will make your trip here really worth it. It also has a unique relationship with AP. It is not AP capped, but you should start at 245.

Hystria Ruins 245+ AP, 301+ DP

Hystria is a place that is a mid-tier grind spot. It used to be the top grinding spot in the game where you can get a ton of great drops. However, nowadays, this is no longer that such great of a spot. However, there are still some pieces that you can get in Hystria, and you can greatly find it in this area. You can make 190 million per hour in Hystria. Still, this is a popular spot, even though it’s not the best one anymore.

Aakman 245+ AP, 301+ DP

It is similar to Hystria, but it does not really have that many rare drops. It is comparable to Hystria, but it is just a little worse when it comes to the amount of money you can get. Aakman only gives you around 185 million silver per hour. Having said that, some classes grind much better at Aakman then at Hystria(for example Lahn) and vice versa, so if you are looking to grind here, make sure you try both out yourself and compare them.

Manshaum Forest 230+ AP, 258+ DP

Manshaum Forest gives you around 120 million silver per hour. I do not recommend you grind here unless you have the infinite potion or do not want to go for it. Even though it’s more profit, you should still grind at the other places listed below, since you can get the potions pieces there.

Forest Ronaros 235+ AP, 250+ DP

Forest Ronaros gives you around 100 million silver per hour.

Blood Wolves 200+ AP, 230+ DP

Blood Wolves gives around 95 million silver per hour. If you are a new player and have just around 200 AP, this is the spot you should be camping at until you get the potion piece. By the time you got the potion piece, you most likely will have the AP for going to Sherekhan.

Sherekhan Necropolis (DAY) 220+ AP, 258+ DP

Lastly, Sherekhan gives around 90 million silver per hour.

Season servers are a new addition to BDO which first arrived on the 17th June 2020.

Season servers are designed for new and returning players to help them get started in BDO but anyone can participate. There are various rewards you can collect by participating, which will give you a great start in terms of gear. The daily quests also help to introduce you to certain parts of the game without throwing you straight into the deep end. If you’re a veteran player then you can still benefit from playing on the season servers and it can be refreshing to play on them, but the rewards are not too desirable that you would feel forced to participate if you don’t want to.

Season+ (current season) started on 15th September 2021 and is expected to last approximately 3 months. You must create a special Season Character to have access to the Season server (only 1 character can be created per season). At the end of the season, your character will become a regular character.

The Season servers themselves are not actually season servers at all. They are special channels that are added and only Season characters can connect to them. The channels have a special icon on them so you can tell them apart from regular channels

On these channels there is a Combat EXP +100% and a Skill EXP +20% buff running at all times, but PVP is not allowed (you cannot flag up but guild wars will still work) unless you join the specific PVP channel. The Central Market and Storage is not seperate to other channels. You can use your pets, fairy, tent and maids that are already on your account as well. All horses (except T9 horses) and other mounts are available in your stables. It is also worth noting that Season Characters can connect to regular channels as well, but only Season Characters can connect to the Season Channels.

Season characters cannot equip regular gear!

Season specific gear (Tuvala gear or Naru gear), Asula accessoires and main story quest gear is the only gear that can be equipped by a season character. These items have special icons on them.

Naru Gear

Naru gear is easier to obtain and enhance than the Tuvala gear and is also given out as a reward when completing the main story quests in Serendia and Calpheon.

You can obtain Naru gear as a drop when fighting monsters in Serendia, Calpheon and Mediah.

You can also exchange the new Beginner Black Stones for Naru gear:

  • Beginner Black Stone (Armor) x1 = Naru Armor x1
  • Beginner Black Stone (Armor) x5 = Naru Accessory x1
  • Beginner Black Stone (Weapon) x1 = Naru Main Weapon Box x1
  • Beginner Black Stone (Weapon) x1 = Naru Sub-weapon Box x1
  • Beginner Black Stone (Weapon)x5 = Naru Accessory x1

You can obtain Beginner Blacks Stones from the main story quest, or by heating regular black stones to turn them into Beginner Black Stones.
They are also used for enhancing Naru gear
.

Enhancing Naru Gear

To enhance Naru gear, you will need the new blackstones called Beginner Black Stone. Information about how to obtain them is shown above.

Naru gear is much easier to enhance than Tuvala gear. If you fail when enhancing they only reduce the maximum durability by -2. They also require less cron stones to safe enhance (eg. 3 cron stones needed for TET > PEN attempts).

Naru armor and weapons can be enhanced up to PEN and accessories can be enhanced up to TRI.

Once you reach PEN Naru armor/weapons and have completed the Mediah questline, you can take this gear to Fughar and he will exchange them into PRI Tuvala gear.

Tuvala Gear

To obtain Tuvala gear, you must collect Tuvala Ore by hunting monsters in Valencia, Kamasylvia, Dreighan and Sycraia Underwater Ruins. Then exchange the Tuvala Ore (x1 for Armor/Weapons, x5 for Accessories) for pieces of gear at a blacksmith. Tuvala gear pieces can also drop from monsters in Valencia, Kamasylvia, Dreighan and Sycraia Underwater Ruins.

Tuvala Accessories can also be heated using Processing (L) and then selected the heating option. Heating accessories will turn them into Tuvala Ore.

Enhancing Tuvala Gear

To enhance Tuvala gear you will need new blackstones called Time-filled Black Stone. In the Korean patch notes it says these drop from monsters in Valencia, Kamasylvia, Dreighan and Sycraia Underwater Ruins, but players have found they can drop in all regions.
When killing monsters in Valencia, Kamasylvia or Dreighan, you can also drop an item called [Season] Ouk Pill of Rift.

These can be exchanged for:

  • Exchange 10 for: Time-filled Black Stone Bundle (contains 30–50 stones)

  • Exchange 20 for: Tuvala Ore Bundle (contains 10–30 ores)

  • Exchange 30 for: Refined Magical Black Stone Bundle (contains 10–30 stones)

Tuvala gear is much easier to enhance than regular gear. For example, your chance of success when enhancing to PEN with 60 fail stacks is 35%. Your chance of success when enhancing to TET with 40 failstacks is 35%. You will need lots of the Black stones though

The new time-filled blackstones can also be exchanged at a new Seasonal NPC for items such as Advice of Valks (up to +40), or Valk’s Cry.

Refined Magical Black Stone can be used to force enhance the gear from +15 to TRI but reduces the items max durability by 50 each time.

You can repair the max durability again by going to the blacksmith and using an unenhanced weapon/armor of the same type.

All Tuvala ore Time-filled Black stones and Refined Magical black stones will deleted once the season ends and cannot be used in the next season.

Enhancing Quests

Additional quests can be received from “Fughar” the Seasonal NPC which reward you with Advice of Valks and involve simple tasks such as showing him different gear you have enhanced (such as TRI Tuvala armor rewarding you with Advice of Valks +40).

Advice of Valks are basically stored failstacks. If you currently have no failstacks you can right-click an Advice of Valks to obtain that amount as a failstack. Advice of Valks can be found in your pearl inventory tab. The enhancement quests from Fughar should give you quite a few Advice of Valks to get you started with enhancing your Tuvala gear to higher enhancement.

*NEW* Simplified Main Quest (Existing Players only)

A new ‘Simplified Main Quest’ has been added for existing players who have completed the Mediah Questline before and also completed the “[Pet] Bareed’s Junaid” quest from Bareed in Mediah. This pet quest can be found in your Suggested quest tab under “[ADV Support] Pets, Loyal Companions”.

This questline allows you to completely skip the main story questline and once finished you can continue to the Valencia questline without missing out on any rewards. The simplified questline will also complete your season pass.

To start the simplified main quest, follow the normal story quest up to Velia and then take the ‘[Special Growth] Birth of a Presigious Family’ from Alustin in Velia.

Do not spam “R” when you arrive in Velia so you don’t miss the quest.

Once you have the corrrect quest from Alustin, go to Fughar to continue with the simplified questline and obtain your Naru gear. You will also be given a book in your inventory that you can use if you are on a Season server. Full details of all quests and requirements can be found below:

Main Quests (New Players)

Each time you complete one of the main questlines (Balenos, Serendia, Calpheon, Mediah) you will also recieve a [Season] Secret Book of the Misty Breeze. This item can be used to gain a large amount of skill points. You get a certain amount of skill points EXP so you can use these at any level and it is not worth saving them for after you have gone over the skill point softcap. However, it is worth noting that the amount of skill EXP you get is effected by skill EXP buffs so it is important to use as many as possible. I recommend waiting until you have finished the Mediah questline, then when you go to grind to level 58, pop all the skill EXP buffs you can and use the items at the same time to make sure you aren’t wasting the buffs.

Below is a Skill EXP Buff List. Aim to use as many as you can but don’t worry if you can’t get them all, some are only available at limited times or through the pearl store/events. At the very least, make sure to use Beast’s Draught, Simple Cron Meal, Family Fame buff and Loyalty buff.

If you get stuck or confused at any point, you can open your main quest log [O] then go to the “main” tab to view your progress.

The main story questlines will also give you combat EXP to level your character, as well as lots of Beginner Black Stones to help you progress your gear in the early levels. You must complete the Mediah questline to receive the rewards in your Season Pass so if you are a new player then following the Main Story quests is the best way to get started with the game.

Weekly Quests

There are weekly quests you can complete which will give you Rift’s Echo x1 and allow you to choose one from the following options: Time-filled Black Stone x600, Tuvala Ore x90, or Refined Magical Black Stone x40. I recommend choosing the Time-Filled Black Stones because you will probably run out of these first, but choose whichever you need. You need to be at least level 20 to get these quests but we recommend you are over level 56 because they involve killing monsters in certain zones. You can find the weekly quests by pressing [O] to open your quest tab, then going to Reccuring and they are under the (Season) section. There may be platoon parties you can join to make the killing quests go quicker!

Make sure you have switched on all quests or you will not receive the weekly quest. Do this by pressing [O] then clicking the icons at the left bottom so that they are yellow like in the image below.

*NEW* Daily RBF Quest

A season daily quest has been added where you get additional rewards for joining the Red Battlefield Arena on a season character.

To join the Red Battlefield, open the ESC menu then go to War > Red Battlefield and choose a server. There are special servers for season characters only. Once you are inside the arena, talk to Daz to obtain the quest.

Regional Quests

  • New regional quests have been added to certain monster zones in Valencia, Kamasylvia, and Drieghan. There will be two quests per monster zone.
  • You will get the quest automatically when you enter the area.
  • You must kill a certain amount of monsters in that area to receive Time-filled Black Stones and some combat EXP.
  • The quests can be completed once on each of your characters. However, completing the quest on a non-season character will not reward you with the season items and only give you Combat EXP.

Rift’s Echo is a new boss scroll recommended for parties of 5 and can only be summoned on Season servers.

To create Rift’s Echo, you must obtain Rift’s Fragments x5 by defeating monsters in Valencia, Kamaslyvia or Drieghan. You can also obtain them as a reward from Savage Rift. Once you have 5 pieces, open your inventory and uncheck the “Auto Arrange” box. Then move the fragments into a + shape in your inventory. A small “+” button will appear on one of the items and you can click this to combine them into a Rift’s Echo.

Rift’s Echo will summon 3 waves of Violent Boss monsters. Each wave will reward you with better rewards that will further aid your Season Character’s growth, such as Time-filled Black Stones, Tuvala Ore, Refined Magical Black Stones, and Tuvala Accessories.

A special seasonal pass has been added to the season servers. You can open the season pass by clicking the icon in the top right next to your mini-map.

You must do each part of the season pass in order to unlock the next reward, but you can complete them in advance and your progress will be saved.

Complete various achievements to unlock rewards in your battle pass. All players have access to the free version and can buy a Seasonal Pass in the pearl store to obtain the premium rewards.

At level 10 you will also be given a leveling aid box. Do NOT delete this box because you will not get it back again. You can open this at certain levels to receive awards and a temporary EXP buff.

Fughar’s Timepiece is an item that lets you transfer your current season character and an exisiting character to switch their combat/skill exp and season status. This is useful if you would like to reroll your season character and don’t want to start again.

Things to remember:

  • Your EXP and skill EXP will be COPIED to the normal character (so get as high level and skill EXP as possible first)
  • Your normal character will become your season character and your original season character will become a normal character which can equip normal gear now and can’t wear your Tuvala gear
  • You will get Tuvala exchange coupons to change the weapons to the new class
  • You will have to do the main story quest again on the new character and currently cannot do the simplified version again if you already did it on your other character
  • You can only use the Timepiece ONCE PER ACCOUNT

To get started, you need your season character to be level 25 or higher and your normal character to be level under level 25. Go to Fughar and complete the quest ‘[Season] Fugar’s Special Timepiece’ to obtain the special timepiece item, then use the item in your inventory to start the switch. You will then see a screen that allows you to choose the character you want to swap. You will be given exchange coupons to swap the Tuvala weapons to the weapons needed for the other class. You can also buy new Tuvala weapon exchange coupons using your Sunset Maple Leaf items from the season pass rewards.

At the end of the season you will have various rewards. The most note worthy of the rewards is the [Season] Boss Gear Exchange Coupon, which allows you to convert one Tuvala piece to boss gear or yellow accessories. More infomation on this can be found in the section below.

The current season is expected to finish around the end of December or beginning of January. However, players will have the option to graduate early at a later date. You cannot create a new season character for the same season if you have graduated early. Graduating early allows you to receive all of the end of season rewards and turn your charcter into a regular character. All characters will automatically graduate at the end of the season if they have not chosen to graduate early.

  • To graduate early, you simply go to Fughar and tell him “I want to convert my season character to a regular character”.
  • Follow his directions to Leyla. She will have a quest for you called [Season Server Graduation] At the Crossroad
  • Go back to Fughar to complete the quest. He will then have the quest [Season Server Graduation] Into the Big Wide World.
  • You will be given an item called “Honorable Adventurer’s Certificate”.
  • You must move to a regular channel and use the Honorable Adventure’s Certificate. This will convert your season character to a regular character (this cannot be undone).
  • After you have converted to a regular character, you can go back to Fughar again and speak with him to complete the quest. He will then give you your season rewards.

You will get Conversion stones which are used to convert your Tuvala gear into gear that can be used by regular characters. Using Tuvala Conversion Stones will maintain crystals and creator Family name for PEN (V) items. However, you cannot exchange Tuvala gear with a crystal inserted into Boss gear and must remove the crystal first by going to your Black Spirit > Transfusion > RMB the crystal.

You must use these Conversion Stones on each piece of Tuvala gear you would like to keep. There is 1 conversion stone for each Weapon/Armor, 1 for necklace and belt, and then 2 for your rings and earrings, meaning you can convert one full set of gear.

To convert the gear, speak to your Black Spirit and choose the “Upgrade Gear” option. You can then select the gear and conversion stones to convert each piece individually. Make sure to select the correct piece of gear! If you do select the wrong piece of gear, send a ticket and they will help you get it sorted out, but will only do this once per account.

Unconverted Tuvala will be deleted at the start of the next Season (exact date is currently unconfirmed). Make sure to convert your Tuvala Gear beforehand!

The converted Tuvala gear will be changed to Family bound and can be moved to and equipped by regular characters.

Season’s Special Reward

  • This season there will not be a new special reward. Players MAY be able to obtain older season specials rewards but this is current unconfirmed.
  • The special reward can be obtained by exchanging the “Season Gift Exchange Coupon”.

For participating in the 2020 summer season, players were able to get a PEN Capotia Ring or Earring, in 2020 Autumn Season, players were offered the Perilla’s Star, in 2020 Winter Season players could obtain a PEN Capotia Belt, and in Summer 2021 player could obtain a PEN Capotia Necklace. You can choose between any of the rewards if you have not already claimed them.

How the Boss Gear Exchange Coupon works

When the season ends, one Tuvala item (armor or weapons) can be converted into boss gear using the [Season] Boss Gear Exchange Coupon.

However, the armor/weapons will drop by one enhancement level (eg. PEN Tuvala becomes TET boss gear, TET Tuvala becomes TRI boss gear).

The gear also becomes family bound and you can still enhance the gear afterwards, put caphras levels into it, etc. You just can’t sell it on the market!

To exchange Tuvala gear for a boss piece, you must first make sure you have graduated and converted the tuvala gear to regular gear using the Conversion Stones. You cannot exchange Tuvala gear with a crystal inserted into Boss gear and must remove the crystal first by going to your Black Spirit > Transfusion > RMB the crystal.

Then go to Fughar and accept the quest for the gear piece you would like to exchange:

  • [Season] Even Sharper Weapon: Main Weapon – Converts your Tuvala Main Hand Weapon to a Kzarka weapon box (you can open this on any class)
  • [Season] Even Sharper Weapon: Sub-Weapon – Converts your Tuvala Offhand Weapon to a Kutum weapon box (you can open this on any class)
  • [Season] Even Sharper Weapon: Awakening Weapon – Converts your Tuvala Awakening Weapon to a Dandelion weapon box (you can open this on any class)
  • [Season] Even Sturdier Armor: Helmet – Converts your Tuvala Helmet to Giath’s Helmet
  • [Season] Even Sturdier Armor: Armor – Converts your Tuvala Armor to Dim Tree Spirit’s Armor
  • [Season] Even Sturdier Armor: Gloves – Converts your Tuvala Gloves to Bheg’s Gloves
  • [Season] Even Sturdier Armor: Shoes – Converts your Tuvala Shoes to Muskan’s Shoes

After accepting the correct quest, go to Tranan Underfoe (the blacksmith in Velia) and use the “Chat” option. He will exchange your gear for you.

  • I would recommend checking out our Enhancing Guide which will teach you the basic systems and how to get started with enhancing your gear. Failstacking can be scary and complicated for new players so I recommend also checking Youtube guides to learn more about the process.
  • We have a Gear Progression guide, which aims to aid new players with their gear and what they should be aiming for at the different checkpoints. Check this out for a walkthrough of how to gear up your season character.
  • Follow the main story quests and complete the Mediah story quest. You should now be around level 55 and can use our grinding leveling guide to reach level 58. Once you are level 58 you can use our Level 58 – 59 guide, Level 59 – 60 guide and Level 60 – 61 guide though to level very quickly using quests and minimal grinding. You will need a Chenga Tome to do this but the questline to obtain the Chenga Tome is easy to complete and doesn’t require you to kill any monsters.
  • We also have lots of other basic guides to help teach you things like how to increase your inventory space, how to use the central marketplace, introductions to nodes and contribution points, etc. Check out our list of guides page for more, just be careful you don’t try to learn too much too quickly because the game can be very overwhelming at first!
  • If you are confused about anything or have any questions check our Season Server FAQ to get an answer as quickly as possible. Feel free to pop into our Discord server as well and ask questions!

Mid game grind spots:

Grinding Spot Guide Work in Progress:

This guide – like all other guides – is currently a work in progress.

This BDO Grinding Spot Guide takes a look at the many hunting zones in Black Desert, in which you can level. Lets use a table to sort BDO Grinding Spots by Level, AP, DP, Silver per hour, and Experience.

As many other things, it is very hard to choose the correct place to farm, since there are sheer endless possibilities. With this BDO Grinding Spot Guide we are trying to create a comprehensive archive of useful Grinding Spots for Money, Grinding spots for XP and Grinding spots for items.

Highlight of our Guide:

  • Data-table s with a lot of secret and not so secret Grindspots
  • Tips on which are the best bdo grinding spots for money
  • A list of recommended Videos by very passionate BDO Players
  • Everything else you need to maximize your gains!

You should always keep in mind, that even with all this tips, the best grinding spot not only depends on your gear, population, your class, but also very much on your own preferences and play-style. What works for someone else perfectly, might be mindbogglingly boring to you.
So in case you cannot get warm with a Grinding Spot even though many people recommend it as the Crème de la Crème, don’t sweat it, and just find another spot. You know the saying, there are lot’s of fish in the sea, right ? ?

BDO Grinding Spots For Money

When playing an open-ended game like Black Desert, it is important to make every hour of grinding count. In total you can improve your grinding efficiency in Black Desert Online by more than 400% with some optimizations !

Item Collection Scroll:
Have you ever wondered if the increased drop rate scroll works in a different way. I have heard people saying that the bonus will not only be added additive. Consider that an item has a drop rate of 1%. If you have a 50% increased drop rate chance, it will be calculated as 0.01 + 0.01 × 0.5 = 0.015 which is still a small chance. Usually for items with very less drop chance, the increase in drop chance given by the scrolls are less likely to be noticed. I also believe that this is how it works.

This is 100% how they work. They are a useless item in places where drop chance of alreadt low. Save them for valencia or pirates

Any place with blue accessory drops that are in demand in the meta that you also have at +10 node, that also drops enhanced greens, relic/book/scroll and black stones. This is the bulk of your money from a loot scroll.

I did the math on stream once based on the drop rates. So helms, hexe, and pirates in that order. Never use scrolls for yellow accessory drops on thin loot tables (crescents, aakman, hystria, etc…) because you’re making way less per hour.

No those are additive. So it’s a total sum of percentage default (let’s say 100) + costume (10) + VP (30) + part splendid exp (15) + milk tea (8) = 163% of the exp total per hit or an extra 63% from exp add ons.

Besides pets, the biggest influencer of money earned at grinding spots is the Item Collection scroll available in the Pearl Shop. The numbers here don’t include that. I frequently see players report an increase of 60% when using these. From my own experience, I noticed a big difference, but unfortunately didn’t think about doing the math and recording it against a normal grinding spot session.

You can also obtain Item Collection Scrolls by turning in 10 Dark Spirit’s Greed from completing Dark Rifts. You get 1 per Dark Rift, so it’s not an easily repeatable thing.

Pets:
Silver is highly impacted by pets. If you only have 1 pet, you can’t earn the money reported at these grinding spots because loot will be left behind. Money reflects 5 Tier 3 pets.
Polar Bears increase your weight limit by up to +50LT, which can increase both your XP/Hour Rate and Silver/Hour Rate greatly, but allowing you to bring more potions in order to minimize your downtime. In my tests, up to 39% of the time was actually spend running back and forth restocking/repairing/dropping items, this is insane to take into context.
The other recommended Pets are Dogs, which add up to 4% Combat XP at Tier 4, multiplied by 5 this is a whopping 20% of extra combat xp!

Value Pack:
The reduced market rate alone with the Value Pack is – well – invaluable.

  • Inventory Expansion 16 slots
  • Storage Expansion 16 slots
  • Combat/Skill/Life/Horse EXP +10%
  • Distant Node Investment (Consumes 10 Energy)
  • Max Weight Limit +100LT
  • 30% bonus to the Marketplace sales collection amount

Combined with all the other stats, it is obvious that it is probably one of the most imba buffs in Black Desert Online, and most player have a Value Pack actively running pretty much all day – every day – every week – every year .

To sell, or not to sell :
Most money in Black Desert is made by trading in collectibles from Farming and selling items at the BDO Market Place, also known as Central market.
You are free to sell everything for a profit, since in almost all cases the profit-scaling of items is very limited by Black Desert Planned Market (restricted prices). There are some exceptions where crafting can double you revenue, but this is rather the exception, and in all circumstances requires a big time commitment and a lot of math. Like in real life, everything that is easy, does not return a lot.
Items like Spirit Dust, which are limited from selling, still have some value to them since you need it in order to craft a Caphras Stone. Ancient Spirit Dust is quiet valuable because of this, but if you prefer to buy your Items fully enchanted on the Central market in order to avoid as much RNG frustration as possible, it makes sense to just sell absolutely everything without exception.

What factors do affect money making in bdo?

There are too many small factors to mention them all, but the biggest are :
Your Gear, both AP and DP
Your Class
Your Level
PVP Interactions
Weight Limit
Inventory Size
Travel Distance to NPCs
Maid Count
Party Size
Motivation
Special-Events
Buffs
RNG

Yeah well, and those are from all. It is close to impossible to have every single of those factors optimized to 100% efficiency, like always in life sometimes we have to make compromises, so it does not make sense to manically try to force something.
Instead keep those factors in your head, and try to optimize whatever is possible in a relaxed way while playing BDO.

Grinding Spots Combat Exp Per Hour

While not as prone to RNG as Grinding for Money in Black Desert, Combat Exp per hours can also have a high variance to it, because of all the factors just mentioned above.
Even details that seem very disconnected, like Inventory Size or Weight limit, can have an enormous effect on your achieved XP/Hour.
A good way to keep track of your efficiency and XP/HR is to use our one and only XP/HR Tracker, that is included in our Black Desert Online Bot.
My number 1 advice is to keep the down-times to an absolute minimum, and always keep the walking distance between you and npcs for selling/storing/reparing and restocking in mind.

More detailed information about all the different +% Combat Exp Buffs, all possible combination and how to best combine them, you can find in our BDO Leveling Guide.

Grinding Spot Videos and Black Desert Video Guides

Here are some videos of people who put a ton of work and effort into doing various calculations, so it is definitely worth it to check it out.

Black Desert Help for Beginners

It’s always hard to be a new player in a game, but more-so in Black Desert. Due to the sheer endless amount of possibilities, it’s very hard to understand the priorities and what to do to really efficiently progress in the game. This Video showcases how a veteran proceeds in Black Desert Online, when starting again from scratch.
Be Sure to also check out our beginner Guide found here : https://bdo-fishbot.com/black-desert-online-beginner-guide/

How to make over 30 Million Silver as Beginner in Black Desert

Once you have mastered your first steps and understand the basics, I would recommend to continue here in order to make some more silver in addition to the Ancient Relic Crystal Shards that your Black Desert Online Bot brings.

General help to choose where to grind with xp AP in BDO

Now it is time to really start up the grind-machine.
This Video is a good Guideline, and I recommend all new Players in Black Desert Online to check it out.

The Best Grinding Spots for EXP at level 56-59

Even in later stages you might sometimes feel lost, since the mass of possibilities and different Choices rather increases than decreases, so on your way from Level 56 to 59, check out this Video.

The Best Grindspot for level 60

At this point you came very far, and to really maximize your grinding efficiency, check out this Black Desert Video-Guide.

Grind Spots in Mediah (Low and Medium AP)

A very undervalued spot for Farming, because it is already implemented in the game since 2016, is Mediah.
There are a ton of awesome Grinding Spots, and back in the past all of them would be crowded 24 hours a day, on all channels. For some the endless battle over Saurons with other guilds were the hey-days of Black Desert Online, while others, especially solo players or small groups, had absolutely no Chance to complete for this spots.

With the many updates ever since the first release of Mediah, a ton of new spots for leveling and grinding money have been added into the game, and Mediah slowly has become forgotten. So today, all the sweetest spots from the past are barely contest, which many people take as sign that there are no good Grind Spots in Mediah anymore – this is a widespread misconception.
There are both areas that are not only great for farming xp, but also yield a respectable amount of Silver at the same time. Also Forbidden Books can drop everywhere in Mediah, which are combine-able like Ancient Relic Crystal Shards, in order to start a Boss-Quest with Memory Fragments as reward.

Oh boy, I can remember back in the spring of 2016 when I first saw the beautiful Landscape surrounding this area. Everyone was crazy about grinding at Helms. You had constant guild battles going on, over who is allowed to farm. This was during a time when a PVP Death still brought heavy penalties with it, including the destruction of your gems and the losing of XP. So on an unlucky day you might start with 20% on your level 50, and at the end of the day you are back at 0%.  But it was worth it! Hands down, Helms Post is one of the best places to farm early-on in the game.
Today Guilds don’t care about Helms Post anymore, which allows new players to kick-start their Black-Desert Online Experience by making rapid progress.

The Helms Post consists of 3 Areas :

The Outer Area
The Main Post
The Caves

All those areas are absolutely awesome for grinding, but i would recommend to sticking first the first 2. The mobs are dropping a lot of valuable trash loot that can be sold to an NPC for a fixed amount.
Lateron, once your AP is going towards 200, you can start farming the deep depths of the caves, where are a lot of elite-mobs and the drops are even better.

Here is an awesome Video-Guide, showing one of the best farming routines for Helms :

Another one of the most popular forgotten grinding spots in BDO. My own, and a lot of other very big guilds would run xxl guild grind missions on this spot every single day, since due to the high density of monsters it allowed to complete very big quests very fast. But not only is the monster density great, they additionally have a very nice drop rate for several valuable items. That’s it you think, but no, in addition it was one of the highest xp/hr grind spots in the game.
Now you can probably understand why it was so popular, and cannot understand why it isn’t anymore. Well, I cannot either.

The Abandoned Iron Mines is a large ring-shaped Area with 3 layers of rings, all accompanied by an unbelievable view.
The basic layout allows for a very good and natural farming routine, since all you have to do is run straight, up and down the 3 stories of rings.

At the writing of this Guide, the place was completely abandoned, even though the Elite Mobs are an extremely good source for both Hard Black Crystal Shards, and Sharp Black Crystal Shards

You should check out this video, to understand how the area exactly looks like, and get an Idea how to efficiently farm the pit :

Type of Monster ZoneHunting for growthOnce a certain limit in AP and Level is hit, it is recommendable to switch areas to keep increasing your silver/hour & xp/hour rate. a character’s AP is above a certain level, the efficiency does not increase. It is recommended to visit more efficient hunting ground.

Manes, wow. I can remember the days, before our big merger, when we were still an ambitious small guild and being bullied of the Helms Post. For us, and for many other small guilds, the manes were an awesome place for farming, almost on-par with the top grinding spots, but at the same time barely contested and mostly ignored.

It’s very near to Tarif, which means that restocking on potions, selling loot or repairing items does not consume a lot of time, which is, as we know, very important for grinding efficiency.

A very great Video highlighting all drops, showing possible crafting mats being gathered there and more can be found here :

Sausans (100-180 AP)

Recommended Level53 ~ 56Lv

User Density★★★☆☆The most contested Grindspot in the past, but at the moment not so bad.

Type of Monster ZoneHunting for growthFor this area you already require quiet good equipment to really farm it efficiently.

Sausans – the grind spot of the grinding spots in BDO.
The Area is blood-sieved by millions of characters that gave their live on the Sauron Training Ground – but it is not the Saurons blood (well, them too :D),  but the blood of players who list their battle in one of the endless ever going guild wars around the sausan area.
The Guild who controlled the Sausan Area back in the day was generally regarded as the strongest guild on the server – on all servers.
I myself have probably lost over 200% of combat xp at that area, due to the PvP-Penalty that would chip away on your hard-farmed xp every time you die, sitting at the edge of my chair fighting off the next guild that was trying to ambush us in order to claim the spot for themselves, being filled with a rush of joy every time we fought them off, and almost crossing the line of insanity when I died the 10th time in a row, while only missing 20% to finally hit level 55, which took 2 weeks of farming 16 hours a day to achieve.
All in all, my memories of the Sausans are very fond, and checking back at the area, it is not even close to as populated as it has been, since all the big guilds moved on.

One thing to keep in mind to really maximize your silver income while grinding in black desert online in general, but especially here :

Free your Inventory and have as much free weight as possible. The drop-rate and monster density are both insane .. but so is the weight of the trashloot.
I very much recommend for you to bring a Wagon as well, otherwise  you will greatly suffer in regards to both xp and silver farming efficiency.

Black Desert Grinding Spots

There are more grind spots than just Gahaz and Fogans for people under softcap you know ?

Your results may vary depending on gear, class, buffs, and especially effort. The money per hour here are estimates by me assuming 5 tier 1 pets on alert mode. Some spots don’t have money estimates because perhaps the prices of the drops are too volatile, I haven’t grinded there enough, it’s heavily dependent on your skill, or I can’t grind there currently.

Early game grind spots:

Assumes buffed with Simple Cron Meal.

<100 AP <Lv50: Rotating around elite monsters from Calpheon such as Energetic Fat Catfishmen, Violents at Mansha Forest, Abandoned Monastery, and Rhutum Outpost are great ways to make starting cash. Also very good if you do not have pets or have less than 4 pets. Also straight up grinding Hexe Sanctuary is decent as well.

100-149AP <Lv56: Helms (surface) up to 25mil/hr, Wandering Rogues up to 30mil/hr, Manes Hideout up to 20mil/hr, Abandoned Iron Mine up to 30mil/hr. Elite rotation around all of these areas make the most money in these spots.

150-179AP <lv58: Fogans 25-ish mil/hr, Bashims 18-20mil/hr, Nagas 20-ish mil/hr, Pirates (15-30mil/hr, high trading helps a lot and the spot is quite inconvenient to go to and leave), Sausans up to 40mil/hr (lots of weight/maids required unfortunately), Fadus Habitat (recently got a rework, not sure how much money/hr), Helms Cave up to 30mil/hr (should be much higher but dependent on seal prices and AFAIK they butchered some of the rotations). Can start at 140 ap if you use species damage weapon like bares or elsh.

180-209AP <lv61: Gahaz up to 40mil/hr (if your rotation has elites), Cadry up to 35mil/hr, Tshira Ruins approx. 25mil/hr, Polly Forest (once it gets its rework it will be a grind spot at this tier – take the video with a grain of salt, most KR players use loot scroll in their showcase videos. assume 66% of the trash loot and 50% of the rare drops)

180 tri kutum: Protty Cave, Blood Wolf Den, Crescent Shrine (you want this AP to 1-2 shot the guardians)

Assumes at least level 60 with max awakening skill levels and common absolutes from mainhand tree depending on class. All mid tier spots assume buffed with Simple Cron, Ancient Grindstone/Villa buff, Destruction Spirit Stone.

209 tri kutum: Centaurs and Basilisks. (rely on price of belt / Black Magic Crystal) (assumes no villa buff)

209 tet kutum: Sherekhans and Pila Ku. sherekhans for hoom crystals + marnis and pila ku for scrolls

220 tet kutum: can start grinding Manshaums, especially if you’re a Musa. try to get at least 2200 marks.

220 tet kutum: Some parties will carry you at Mirumok at this ap. if they offer do it. the money and the exp will make it easier to get to 235ap in the future, especially with capotia earring. (capotia ring, tri crescent, tet weapons, capotia earring, tri blue coral earring, tri orkinrad belt is enough to get 235ap for kinda cheap)

220 tet kutum: Sycraia Underwater Ruins upper level can be done at this AP fairly well. It’s not the best money though.

Assumes at least level 60 (Hystria and Sycraia need higher levels or mobs will be purple and dodge your attacks) with max awakening skill levels and common absolutes from mainhand tree depending on class. All spots assume buffed with appropriate Cron meal, Ancient Grindstone/Villa buff, Destruction Spirit Stone, Giant’s Draught.

235 tet kutum: Manshaums makes an appearance here again. Many classes that weren’t able to get good loot at 220 kutum will be able to get decent loot at 235 kutum. Manshaums is a very good spot for mobile classes and will often outpace Aakman grinding until 245 kutum on many classes. Drop rate is very important here as small mobu have as little as 37.5% chance to drop trash loot. So things like ecology, Arsha server, luck rate, node level, etc. are very important here! (simple cron)

235 tet kutum: Mirumok ruins parties will take you at this AP. Expect about 1.9-2.1K trash loot an hour at main rotation. North America Party finder Discord here: https://discordapp.com/invite/yEdp7k6 (simple cron)

235 tet kutum, 285+ DP: can do Aakman. some classes can do it before this point like around 225 tet kutum (witch/wiz/archer/lahn), some classes can attempt hystria at this point (sorc, mystic). your goal is 3k trash without loot modifiers like item scrolls but it’s still worth if you only pull like 2.5k. Keep in mind some classes need even more AP to grind here and have it be worth more than previous spots, like 245 Kutum (Striker, Ranger, Mystic, Musa etc.) (energizing cron)

Lv61+ 245 tet kutum, full TET DR boss armor (296 DP): some classes like sorc and dk and mystic and warrior have a nice time at Hystria at this ap. some others need to wait until 261 or even 265 nouver to get good at hystria and some never get there and will always make more money elsewhere. aim for 1.5k trash before loot scrolls or better. (Exquisite Cron)

Lv61+ 261 Nouver, 308+ DR based DP: Star’s End is a decent grind spot for Blackstar materials, and should be a good grind spot once erosion earrings are added to the game.

Lv62+ 261+ TET/PEN Kutum, 324+ DR based DP: Sycraia Underwater Ruins Abyssal LevelArcher needs even more dp cuz squish (Simple Cron)

Closing

There’s some spots you can go to in order to make silver. Always do some mild testing to make sure you can make more money from new spot than old spot before moving on to avoid inconveniencing people who would otherwise make even more at new spot. Assume for the first few hours until you have some practice in at a spot that you’re at around 50-65% efficiency and will get better as you learn rotations and pulls (especially true for aakman/hystria)

Edits

Edit: forgot to include grass beetles at Olvia / Velia plains for over 1 billion silver an hour at 300 AP. especially prioritize the big scary violent ones /sarcasm btw

Real Edit: Some gems / items to help you grind at spots above your current gear level:

  • Dark Red Fang Valor glove crystals are great PvE options if you can’t afford JIN Vipers. Once you’re around 300 accuracy you have a solid hit-chance against most mobu in the game except Hystria, Pila Ku, and Sycraia Abyss. These crystals give you 5 AP per and 2 crit which is really solid. Despite what people tell you hidden AP is real AP too.
  • Valtarra Spirit Crystal helps in Kamasylvia places, and if you’re under 245 Kutum they’re marginally more effective than critical crystals with the added Kama mob damage as well as hidden AP. Highly recommended if you’re trying to do Manshaums/Mirumok at 220-244 AP. Critical crystal still better at high AP though, but hidden AP and monster damage does help get over DR thresholds in the mid game.
  • Macalod crystals help a bunch if you’re willing to sacrifice defense for additional hidden AP, accuracy, and stamina.
  • Precision crystals are a must for mobu that you need to keep CC’d that have high resists. For example keeping Aakman mobs knocked down or Hystria mobs stiffened/stunned can increase your trash/hr by as much as 500/250 or more at Aakman/Hystria respectively. Outside of these places sometimes hidden AP crystals are better in mainhand but only marginally and precisions help in PvP too, so…
  • Resistance crystals like RBF Adamantine and BMC Vigor / Intimidation help a lot when you’re starting out and don’t know how to avoid CC attacks from mobs. Bound effects at Manshaum can slow you down considerably, and getting knocked down or stiff-locked at Aakman/Hystria can literally be the death of you. These don’t increase your damage but may help if you find you’re getting CC’d a lot.

Real Edit 2: Linked grind spot review/guide/example videos to each grind spot that I could find a good one. Prioritized YouTubers like Duodecil, Kanzetic, and Not Theworst, as long as they had a relevant and decently up to date video available. Keep in mind you may get different results, and to take each example with a grain of salt.

Real Edit 3: Formatting.

Black Desert Online Elvia's Realm Grind Spots (Hadum Server Guide)

Hadum Servers are a new feature in Black Desert Online which was added to the live servers with the March 3, 2021 patch as permanent content. The essence of Elvia’s Realm is that the low-level grinding zones on some servers have been transformed into high-level grinding zones, which entails better loot and a new gaming experience, making the spots more attractive to players with a higher gear.

The story sounds like this: “Hadum, the goddess of despair who felled many lives in the western region and caused the great civil strife between Sylvia’s children, has come into this world yet again. She seeks Kamasylvia’s Light, rekindled by countless adventurers. Hadum has set loose her black sun, glowing with hatred and destruction, upon the skies of Serendia, a world that is beginning to look like Hadum’s Elvia Realm. Serendia is the first to fall prey to Hadum, and many of its inhabitants have lost themselves to rage under her dark influence.”

Elvia’s Realm Overview:

  • New grinding areas with new mechanics and valuable loot
  • New upgrade items for jewelry and Blackstar armor (Obsidian Blackstar Gear)
  • New weapons with expiration dates that unlock the use of new, special skills.

Table of Contents

Hadum Servers

In server selection, these servers can be identified by a green circular icon next to their name. These are Serendia 3-6, Calpheon 3-6, Mediah 3-6, Valencia 4-6, and Arsha servers.

Hadum Servers are focused on Elvia’s Realm grinding zones: adventurers must face forceful monsters in these locations, but there are normal monsters outside of these locations worldwide. Anyone can access these servers unconditionally, but you should be careful if you visit these places with low-level character. Except for Arsha Server, forced PvP mode is not possible in the Hadum Servers.

Grinding Zones

The monsters found in these grinding zones require a high AP/DP combination, and some places also require a party. The following AP/DP requirement table can help you decide which location to choose for grinding:

NarcDuring combat, you have a certain chance to obtain a “Crimson Bell”. Ringing the “Crimson Bell” will summon monsters from all directions. Rituals may also be in progress in the monastery from time to time. “If you succeed in stopping this ritual, a Furious Muskan will appear to challenge you. Defeating the Furious Muskan will drop loot for a group of max 5 adventurers.”

Well, of course. There was a definite smell over our table. And how did we not guess it ourselves. The acuteness of the moment was amazing.
