Toyota is conducting two separate Safety Recall actions related to Takata Front Passenger airbag inflators on various Toyota models and one Lexus model. These Safety Recalls remain active and repairs are underway.

The first is a nationwide recall, designated DSF (Toyota and Scion) or DSC (Lexus), and the second recall is regional, focused on the Gulf Coast and other areas within the United States and United States Territories with warmer climates and consistently high absolute humidity, designated E04 (Toyota and Scion) or ELG (Lexus).

A vehicle may be included in either the nationwide Takata inflator recall activity or the regional inflator recall. Any vehicle originally sold, or ever registered, in the previously defined high absolute humidity areas will be included in the E04/ELG Safety Recalls.

If your vehicle is involved in either recall, the front Passenger airbag inflator will be replaced at no charge to you at an authorized Toyota Dealer for Toyota and Scion models or authorized Lexus Dealer for the Lexus model involved. Only the models and model years listed below are equipped with the inflators subject to these recalls.

High absolute humidity is related to higher temperature, southern coastal areas and is not the same as high relative humidity. Test results from the inflators recovered from consistently high absolute humidity areas have shown a possible elevated risk for Passenger airbag inflator explosion.

If your vehicle is not located in, or has not ever been registered in, the areas with consistently high absolute humidity (such as, Florida, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Gulf Coast and US Territories), your vehicle is included in the nationwide Safety Recall.

Notification of Recall Fuel Pump Replacement March

Lexus UK has issued a safety recall for a limited amount of Lexus cars, due to an issue with the low-pressure fuel pump, located in the fuel tank.
The issue relates to a concern that these fuel pumps include impellers which may have been manufactured with lower density. In this condition, the impeller may deform to a point that creates interference with the fuel pump body to cause the fuel pump to become inoperative.
The following Lexus UK models have been recalled, these vehicles were produced between September and May

To see if your car is affected, please use the Recall Lookup or contact your local Lexus Centre.

As part of Lexus’s commitment to quality and safety, Lexus is expanding these recalls involving certain Takata airbag inflators in vehicles.

At Lexus, the safety of our customers is our number one priority, which is why we continually monitor the performance of our vehicles through a number of sources. If we become aware of a certain component or aspect of our vehicles that doesn’t meet our strict standards we will take appropriate action, as we have done in this instance.

The vehicles involved in Europe are the Lexus SC, IS, ES and GX produced between December and December , as well as the Lexus ES , GX , IS Convert, IS /, IS-F and the LFA between January and December for the airbag inflator.

Customers will be contacted by each national distributor in the countries. Airbag inflator replacement will be performed at no charge to customers. In the meantime if you have any questions please contact your national distributor or alternatively please contact your local Lexus dealer.

In the involved vehicles a safety defect may arise in certain Takata air bag inflators due to inflator propellant degradation occurring after prolonged exposure to high absolute humidity, high temperatures, and high temperature cycling. This may result in an inflator rupture when the air bag deploys.

If you have been contacted about a Lexus recall, or have reason to believe your vehicle may be included in a recall, you can quickly find out more by using our 3-step Recall Checker below. To find out if your vehicle is included in the Takata airbag campaign we have developed a simple process below.

Certain Lexus models have been recalled for front passenger airbag inflators that were manufactured by Takata.

In involved vehicles, the non-desiccated propellant that inflates the passengers front airbag could absorb moisture and degrade. If the inflator propellant degrades and the vehicle is involved in a collision, the airbag can go off with too much explosive force, causing sharp metal fragments to shoot out and kill or seriously injure people in the vehicle.

This is an urgent safety recall on an unprecedented global scale across many automotive brands, including Lexus. It is important that all affected airbags are replaced as soon as possible and we urge you to check your vehicleimmediately. A full list of all vehicles affected by the Takata airbag recalls in Australia is available on the Recalls Australia website.

Lexus takes the safety of our customers seriously and we have worked hard to rectify all affected vehicles, prioritising vehicle rectification based on the location and age of the inflator and parts availability.

All affected Lexus vehicles have been actively recalled. It is important that you check your vehicle to ensure that any faulty Takata airbag has been replaced. Please also ensure that your contact details are up to date.

We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused by the Takata airbag recalls.
