The Kootenai National Forest has many developed recreational campgrounds as well as unlimited places to camp in undeveloped areas. Mountain lakes and stream provide pretty settings for that relaxing vacation!

The Kootenai National Forest has 40 Forest Service campgrounds with a total of 704Recreational Area Map. Click for larger image. units, throughout the forest. Some campgrounds are open year round, others are open during the summer months only. Campground use is heaviest in July and August. The forest also offers thousands of acres  for general dispersed recreation and camping.

Much of the area is accessible by road. Far backcountry and wilderness areas are open to hikers, hunters, fishermen and other foot travel. No mechanized vehicles (including mountain bikes) are allowed within designated wilderness areas. 

Forest users should check in with local Forest Service District Offices to get the latest information on current conditions, advisories, and any fire precautions. 

Picnicking available at overnight campsites until 2 pm daily; designated areas also available. 

14-day Stay Limit on all forest campgrounds. Pets must be leashed.

Site is available for use, but facilities are offered during managed times only. Restrooms and water may not be available during winter months, but visitors can use facilities without fee. Roads are not plowed for winter access.

General Policies
  • Check-in time: 12:00pm. For travelers experiencing unexpected delays, please notify us as soon as possible so we can accommodate.
  • Check-out time: 11:00am.
  • Montana state 7% accommodation tax will be applied to daily and weekly rates.
  • All fees are due at time of check-in.
  • Pets are allowed.
  • Large patio carpets are prohibited on the lawn. However, small door mats and entry rugs are allowed.
  • As full laundry facilities are available for our guests, please do not hang laundry from your RV, awning or clotheslines.
  • Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Refund Policy: If you need to shorten your stay, a full refund will be issued only if we are notified by 11:00am the day prior to your anticipated departure date.

Pet Policy: Because we understand that travelers want to share their vacations with their pets, we are determined to keep your entire family together by establishing a pet-friendly RV park. We only ask that you return your site in its original condition and clean up after your pets. With Two Bit Outfit RV Park, pet-friendly RV rental is that easy.
However, to ensure that all guests have a quiet, pleasant and relaxing visit, we ask that you keep the “unspoken” rules in mind when traveling with your four-legged friend. Making sure that your pet is never left unattended or tied up, that he is always cleaned up after and that he is securely leashed as you meander throughout the park will prevent avoidable annoyances and inconveniences that pets can sometimes create. This corner of northwest Montana is a scenic treasurer.  There are countless outdoor activities in this nature's playground.  If you are an outdoor enthusiast then this is a place for you.  Some of the best motorcycle riding in the country.  Endless back roads for ATVing and scenic bicycling routes; for winter riding there are miles and miles of snowmobile trails.  Backpacking and hiking in the two wilderness areas are beautifully remote with mountain lakes and streams.  This area offers many scenic wonders from the Kootenai Falls to the ancient Ross Creek Cedars.  If you enjoy kayaking, the Kootenai River can give you some thrills of a lifetime.  The Kootenai River also provides record setting trout fishing and leisurely float trips.  This area is rich with lakes and creeks for your fishing needs or trying your hand at gold panning.  Photo opportunities abound with our abundance of wildlife; bald eagles, moose, deer, elk, mountain sheep and goat; black and grizzly bear.  For winter fun, Turner Mountain Ski Area has some of the best powder in the US, according to Ski Magazine.  There are a lot of areas for cross county skiing and snowshoeing, also.

The electric current that ran there, at the junction, discharged the slightly restrained stream, the fountain beat and beat throwing out all my contents. Strength, feelings, emotions, accumulated adrenaline. I was completely drunk and devastated, I didn't have the strength to move, let alone think, evaluate what had happened.
