Beat Saber Billie Eilish DLC is coming in hot off the back of last month’s Skrillex pack.

The official Beat Saber Twitter account just confirmed the news. The pack will launch on September 21. Facebook also confirmed to UploadVR that the pack will consist of 10 songs taken from WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO? and Happier than Ever. It will cost $12.99 as a complete pack or $1.99 each for individual songs. Last month’s Skrillex pack featured 8 songs for $10.99. Eilish headlined our list of artists we most wanted to see in the game a year ago. Are we psychic? Who knows.

We’re used to waiting a fair few months for Beat Saber DLC, so it’s surprising to see a fast turnaround for this pack. It’s a busy time for Beat Saber in general; earlier this week Beat Games launched cross-play for the title, allowing SteamVR and Oculus users to play together for the first time. PSVR players can’t use the feature, though, because that version of the game still doesn’t have multiplayer support. It’s been nearly a year now, but Beat Games says it’s still working on support.

This won’t be Eilish’s first brush with VR, either. In September 2019 one of the artist’s concerts aired in Oculus Venues as one of the first experiences of its kind.

Which songs are you hoping to see in the Beat Saber Billie Eilish DLC? Let us know in the comments below!

Beat Saber

2018 virtual reality rhythm game

2019 video game

Beat Saber is a virtual realityrhythm game developed and published by Czech game developer Beat Games. It takes place in a surrealistic neon environment and features the player slicing blocks representing musical beats with a pair of contrasting-colored sabers. Following an early access release in November 2018, the game was officially released for PlayStation 4 and Microsoft Windows on May 21, 2019, and supports most virtual reality headsets.

Main article: List of songs in Beat Saber

The game includes several songs with up to five levels of difficulty, starting from Easy all the way to Expert+. The player uses VR motion controllers to wield a pair of glowing sabers, which by default are colored red and blue for left and right respectively. In each song, the game presents the player with a stream of approaching blocks, laid out in sync with the song's beats and notes, located in one of the 12 possible positions of a 4x3 grid.

The game also features the option of playing some songs in certain orientations where blocks approach from around the player. Each block varies in color, corresponding to the color of the saber that should be used to slash it. Each one may also be marked with an arrow indicating one of eight possible directions in which the block may be required to be slashed through. There are also blocks with dots instead of arrows, which players may hit in any direction. When a block is properly slashed by a saber, it is destroyed and a score is awarded, based on the length and angle of the swing and the accuracy of the cut.

In addition, there are occasionally bombs that the player should not hit, and obstacles in the form of oncoming walls that the player's head should avoid. Underneath the path where the blocks travel is a white bar that slowly fills up as the player hits notes correctly. If the player hits any note in the incorrect direction, this 'health bar' will decrease by a small bit. If the player completely misses a note, the bar will lose a larger amount. If the bar becomes completely empty, the game will end.[1]

Since its early access stages, the game included a single-player mode as well as a party mode, which features a leaderboard with the player's names, which are entered after each song is played. Additionally, the game includes a level editor and a practice mode that allows the player to alter the song's speed, or start playing it from any point in time, and not just the beginning. The game added a multiplayer mode in which anywhere between 2-5 players can play a level together, with the person with the highest score winning.

Beat Saber shipped with ten songs, but has been expanded with several downloadable content packs. Several of these include original songs, but several package are licensed songs featuring music and special stages from bands such as Imagine Dragons,[2]Panic! at the Disco,[2]Green Day,[3]Linkin Park,[4]BTS,[5] and musicians signed to Interscope Records. In addition, the community has created modifications for Beat Saber, allowing custom songs and maps.

Beat Saber began after the completion of Beat Games' (Hyperbolic Magnetism at the time) previous title, Chameleon Run. Vladimír Hrinčár and Ján Ilavský began creating demos and prototypes, and some of these were posted on Facebook. The composer, Jaroslav Beck saw some of these prototypes and met the team in Prague in order to convince them to let him create the soundtrack for the game. After around two years of development, the game was released in early access on May 1, 2018.[6]

The game was first released in early access on Microsoft Windows on May 1, 2018.[1] The game was released on PlayStation 4 on November 20, 2018.[7] An editor was announced for release in May 2018, which would allow for the creation of custom user songs, but it was postponed,[8] and added in May 2019.[9]

In March 2019, Beat Games released its first paid song pack, featuring 10 songs from electronic music record label Monstercat.[10] "Crab Rave" was added as a free update on April Fools' day that year.[11] On May 2, 2019, to celebrate the game's first anniversary, a prototype version created three years prior was released to the public as Beat Saber Origins.[12] The game was fully released out of early access on PC on May 21, 2019.[9] On January 29, 2020, the game received a free pack featuring three songs by Japanese artist Camellia.[13]

Facebook via Oculus Studios acquired Beat Games in November 2019. The company stated that the purchase would not affect future development of Beat Saber on third-party VR platforms besides Oculus.[2] Beat Games will continue to operate in Prague as an independent studio, although under the umbrella of Oculus Studios. The studio released the new 360-degree levels on December 14, 2019.[14]

During its early access phase, Beat Saber received numerous positive reviews, becoming the highest rated game on Steam less than a week after its early access release.[8] The game sold over a million copies by March 2019.[24] By February 2021, the game has sold over 4 million copies and 40 million songs have been sold through paid DLC.[25]

Edge thought the game was an excellent fit for VR as a medium, writing "At this point in virtual reality's development, it's still rare to encounter a game that feels native to the technology. Beat Saber is an exception."[17]IGN noted that while the game "doesn't push the limits of [VR tech] too far", the game is extremely effective at communicating the appeal of VR, and considered the game "a go-to for introducing anyone to virtual reality."[19]Gamespot noted that at launch the supported song library was "slim", but nevertheless concluded that "Beat Saber is an exhilarating rush and an exhausting game to play in the best way."[18]

Beat Saber has grown a strong following since its debut, and users have created numerous mods to enhance the game.[citation needed] Also, a number of websites have surfaced, where users distribute beat maps they created themselves, some of them even allowing for this content to be sideloaded onto the Oculus Quest.[citation needed]

Saber ps4 buy beat

Last week to coincide with the launch of Oculus Quest 2, Beat Games launched the long-awaited multiplayer mode for Beat Saber across PC VR and the Quest platform. There was one notable absence, PlayStation VR support. Today, the studio has confirmed a delay until next year.

Beat Saber

Taking to Twitter the team said: “Dear PS VR players, we’re so sorry that multiplayer is still not available for PS4. Bringing MP to PS4 is a priority for us, but development is taking much longer than we’d expected. We’re trying to deliver multiplayer in January if everything goes to plan.”

Even with Beat Games’ acquisition by Facebook towards the end of 2019 the studio has continued to support all the platforms Beat Saber is available on. As can be quite often the case, porting content to PlayStation VR isn’t a simple or quick process hence why it launched so many months after the PC version.

The studio went onto say in subsequent tweets: “We will keep working on multiplayer for PS4 as fast as possible, along with exciting new music content on the way!,” responding to one disgruntled player: “We’re really sorry and totally understand your feelings, we want to release multiplayer asap, but the development is taking us longer than we expected. Please bear with us, we are doing our best.”

Beat Saber has garnered a legion of fans thanks to its easily picked up gameplay and continually updated selection of tracks; the latest coming from rock band Linkin Park a couple of months back with a BTS music pack arriving in November.

The multiplayer mode allows up to five people to compete against one another, either in a private party with friends or taking part in a random match. The feature doesn’t support cross-platform gameplay – although the studio is looking into it – and there isn’t any built-in voice chat but the mode does support all the official base songs as well as those in DLC.

Captain a Federation starship with three of my friends no matter which headset they own? Yes, please. Star Trek: Bridge Crew puts you on the bridge in one of four roles: Captain, Helm, Tactical or Engineer. You'll plot in a course, raise shields, engage enemies and teleport helpless lifeforms on board, communicating with teammates all the while -- or shouting voice commands to IBM's Watson supercomputer when your friends can't make it.

There's not a lot of depth to the game, and the missions aren't brilliantly scripted, but it can still be loads of fun -- particularly if, like my colleague Ashley Esqueda suggests, you tell yourself a little lie like "I don't trust Vulcans" to enhance your roleplay.

Update, Dec. 2017: You don't need a VR headset to play Bridge Crew anymore. Even easier to pull your friends in now.

Beat Saber is a unique VR rhythm game, where your goal is to slash the beats (represented by small cubes) as they are coming at you. Every beat indicates which hand you need to use and also the direction you need to match. The game can be easily described as a mashup of Guitar Hero and Fruit Ninja in VR. All the music is composed to perfectly fit the hand made levels. Our goal is to make players almost dance, while cutting all the cubes and avoiding obstacles. Each cut is strongly supported by great sound and visual effects to emphasize the rhythm.

The development started in 2016 when we found out there is no great rhythm based game on VR. The game was showcased on many places and almost 700 people tried it so far. The response is overwhelming positive.

Unique gameplay with a great feel - Beat Saber combines the satisfying feeling of cutting with emergent perception of rhythm.
Handcrafted levels & music - All the basic levels and music in the game will be handcrafted to emphasise the music rhythm. The results are incomparable to similar games with generated content.
Game longevity - The game can be played in short (few minutes) sessions in quick play mode or for many hours in career mode.
Game accessibility - Anyone can understand basic game principles and play the game in just a few seconds.
