On our kayak tours in the San Juan Islands, you may witness the magnificent breach of an orca (killer whale) or hear the graceful blows of foraging porpoise passing by. Watch as a bald eagle glides peacefully overhead against the evening sky. The San Juan Islands are the hidden gems of the Pacific Northwest because of the great weather, clear deep waters, clean and unpopulated beaches, abundance of wildlife and close proximity to Seattle and Vancouver B.C. To truly get away from it all, come to the San Juan Islands and embark on a memorable kayak tour.
We get half of the annual rainfall of Seattle because of our geographic location. Most of our days are sunny and warm during our kayaking season. The San Juan Islands are unique because of the possibility to kayak with killer whales nearby. Kayaks were created by the Inuit, Yup'ik, and Aleut hunters in the subarctic regions of the world. Originally constructed of stitched animal skin stretched over a wooden frame. In treeless areas whale bone was used as a frame. Skin-on-frame kayaks are still in use today for hunting by the Inuit people in Greenland. Photo courtesy of Wikipedia.

Did you know? Herons rake their special patches of powder down feathers with their feet to sprinkle the powder on caught fish. This causes the fish slime and oil to clump up so that it can be brushed away with their feet. Photo courtesy of Crystal Seas Kayaking Tours.
