Borderlands 3 Celebrates 2 Year Anniversary With Weeks of Special Events

Borderlands 3 celebrates its second birthday with several in-game events, including Loot the Universe, Show Me the Eridium and Mayhem Made Mild.

To celebrate the game's second anniversary, Borderlands 3is hosting 5 weeks of celebratory events.

The events will feature a host of returning fan-favorite game modes alongside fresh offerings. Starting from Aug. 12, players can dive into the Loot the Universe series of "mini-events." This beloved limited-time event increases the drop rate of Legendary items on certain planets; every week a new location will be highlighted, encouraging Borderlands 3players to return to some of the game's most iconic destinations.

"Just like last year, each planet's affected zones have their own dedicated Legendary weapon type (Pistol, Shotgun, SMG, Assault Rifle, Sniper Rifle, or Heavy), and may also have increased chances for Legendary gear types (Class Mods, Artifacts, Shields, or Grenade Mods)," says game developer Gearbox Software.

While Loot the Universe is running, two other events will fill in the gaps to ensure players always have something to look forward to. Starting on Sept. 9, two more mini-events begin: Mayhem Made Mild and Show Me the Eridium. The former will allow players to experience Borderlands 3's Mayhem mode with only Easy modifiers, which should result in a chaotically fun power trip. Show Me the Eridium will feature exactly what you expect as the game increases the drop rate of Eridium while also implementing discounts on several Eridium items.

"We've got even more planned for the anniversary on September 13, but we don't want to spoil the surprise just yet—so be sure to check back for details closer to the big day," continues the blog post. The celebratory events come to an end on Sept. 16.

Borderlands 3 is the latest entry in the beloved RPG shooter franchise. Players assume the role of one of four Vault Hunters (Moze, Zane, Fl4k or Amara) as they venture across multiple planets in the endless pursuit of powerful gear and weapons. Launched in 2019, the game received positive reviews for iterating on the franchise's formula despite some criticism that its writing and overall story missed the mark.

If you skipped Borderlands 3 when it first launched, there's never been a better time to play it. The game has received several critically acclaimed expansions, a Director's Cut and a long-awaited crossplay update. Borderlands 3 is available on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Google Stadia and PC.

Borderlands® 3 Crossplay Update and Revengence of Revenge of the Cartels Event Now Available

Buckle up, Vault Hunters – an exciting update is here with brand-new features. The Crossplay Update is live as a free addition for Borderlands® 3. It includes crossplay functionality for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Mac, Stadia, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, the return of the game’s most popular seasonal event with The Revengence of Revenge of the Cartels, permanent seasonal event toggling, a new level cap increase, and more.

Starting today, crossplay is available for Borderlands 3 across Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Mac, Stadia, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. There has never been a better time for you and your friends to experience the shooting and looting mayhem together! More details on how to enable crossplay are available on the game’s official website.

The return of a fan-favorite seasonal event is here with The Revengence of Revenge of the Cartels. Joey Ultraviolet and his gang of underlings are back for another round, so the friendly Saurian Maurice will once again ask you to eliminate Cartel Operatives, who can be found in areas from both the base game and campaign add-ons. Once you’ve dispatched enough of them and collected Hideout Coordinates from their corpses, Maurice can open a portal to the main event: a showdown at Villa Ultraviolet against the Eridium Cartel kingpin himself, Joey Ultraviolet. The event features a new set of themed cosmetic rewards, all of which are detailed on the game’s official website.

The Crossplay Update also brings with it Endless Seasonal Events! You can now access all of Borderlands 3’s themed seasonal events—Bloody Harvest, Broken Hearts Day, and Revenge of the Cartels – whenever, and for however long, you’d like. A new option on the Main Menu lets you select which of these three events you want to toggle on or off. These annual events all have their own unique sets of themed cosmetic rewards and exclusive drops from their Year 1 and Year 2 iterations, which can now be earned at your own pace. Progress on related Challenges won’t be reset if you participated in these events previously, but you can instead earn or re-earn seasonal event drops from their iconic boss fights.

Speaking of events, from June 24 at 9:00 AM PT to July 1 at 8:59 AM PT, the effects of all sixTrue Trials mini-events will be active. This means all six of the Trials bosses get the same substantial health and damage boosts, and they'll all drop their two designated Legendary items. The chest at the end of each trial will be chock-full of Legendaries as well!

Finally, with the Crossplay Update, Vault Hunters can push their power even further as the level cap increases by seven levels to a max level of 72. With a maximum total of 70 Skill Points to play with, players have even more ways to create mayhem and character builds that will annihilate enemies like never before.

Borderlands 3 is available now on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Stadia, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. For assets and additional information, please visit newsroom.2k.com.

Borderlands 3 Loot the Universe event over, two mini-events now live

Borderlands 3's second-anniversary celebration has entered its final days. The five-week-long extravaganza started on August 12 on Pandora and decked the planet out with zones flaunting dedicated Legendary weapon type drops (Pistol, Shotgun, SMG, Assault Rifle, Sniper Rifle, or Heavy), and sometimes even increased chances for Legendary gear types (Class Mods, Artifacts, Shields, or Grenade Mods).

Gearbox will finish rolling out their latest set of hotfixes by 19:00 GMT today, Thursday, September 9 2021. The fresh batch of fixes will move Maurice’s Black Market Vending Machine to a new location and activate Mayhem Made Mild and Show Me the Eridium mini-events.

  • Mayhem Made Mild: players will only encounter Easy modifiers in Mayhem Mode until 15:59 GMT on September 16.
  • Show Me the Eridium: will grant increased Eridium drops and Eridium item discounts until 15:59 GMT on September 16.

The two mini-events will run simultaneously and overlap with a special mystery event planned to kick off on September 13 - the game's actual anniversary.

Borderlands 3: How to Replay Seasonal Events

A new massive update has arrived in Borderlands 3 that allows players to replay through seasonal events. This guide will show players how they can access this new content. Borderlands 3 recently introduced tons of quality-of-life improvements to the title. For example, players are now able to participate in crossplay for those players who own an Xbox, PC, Mac, and Stadia version of the game. Not only that but the level cap has been increased to level 72, providing more of a reason to return back to the game to max it out. Although, arguably one of the biggest changes to come to the game is the removal of limited-time seasonal events. This guide will show players how they can go back and play through older seasonal events.

Related: How Borderlands 3 Crossplay Works

Seasonal events exist so players are pressured to return back to a game to collect exclusive content. This content is typically only available for a limited time and will disappear once the event comes to a close. This has been a practice in tons of titles such as Apex Legends, Overwatch, and Fortnite. It's all about pushing players to return for this special event. Borderlands 3 has recently released an update that allows players to play any seasonal event at any point, removing this pressure to stay on top of new content. Here is how players can access this content.

How To Replay Seasonal Events in Borderlands 3

Currently, the events that players are able to choose from are Bloody Harvest, Broken Hearts Day, and Revenge of the Cartels. The game is currently hosting its re-run of the Revenge of the Cartels with its Revengence sequel. It's fairly simple to go back and play these events. From the main menu, players are able to toggle on and off which seasonal event they would like to be active. Players can opt to turn them on to complete them and turn them back off when they are completed. It's likely future events will be added to this list when they occur.

Borderlands 3 is one of the first major titles to remove the seasonal time limit with these special events. It's incredibly stressful to have to force the player to take time out of their busy schedule to complete seasonal content before it's removed. Hopefully, this can set a new standard and push other developers to adopt this. Sometimes players just don't have the time. Remove that stress and let players play when they can.

‘Borderlands 3’ starts mini-events to celebrate second anniversary

Gearbox Software will run five weeks of mini-events in Borderlands 3 to celebrate the game’s second anniversary.

Borderlands 3 turns two years old on September 13, and to celebrate, Gearbox is running four Loot the Universe events, followed by two unique events for the final week. According to the post on the Borderlands website, players should keep their eyes open for further celebrations coming on the anniversary itself.

The Loot the Universe events have already begun. Similar events were also run last year so players may be familiar with the mechanics but for those that aren’t, each planet takes it in turns to have boosted legendary drop rates. However, only certain zones will be improved, and it will be up to the community to discover where is affected and what items are dropping there.

Each affected zone will drop one weapons type, either pistol, shotgun, submachine gun, assault rifle, sniper rifle, or heavy. They may also have increased chances for class mods, artefacts, shields, or grenade mods.

Currently, Pandora is the affected planet and will be the source of bonus legendaries until 5 pm on August 19. Promethea will then be the active planet until August 26, followed by Eden-6 until September 2, and finally Nekrotafeyo until September 9.

Once the Loot The Universe event ends, two new mini-events will run at the same time. One is Mayhem Made Mild, in which only easy modifiers will be active in Mayhem Mode. Simultaneously Show Me The Eridium will also be active, which grants increased Eridium drops and item discounts. This will be active in Borderlands 3 until September 16.

Gearbox has also said that further celebrations are planned for September 13, but they don’t want to spoil the surprise just yet.

Elsewhere, official teases for Call Of Duty 2021 have begun to surface, suggesting more information will be coming soon.
