Information submitted by Debbie Ullom who is the great- granddaughter of John C. Ball and Margret "Betty" Jane Blackburn. E-mail Debbie Ullom

** The death certificate for John C. Ball list his birthday the same as what is posted under the obituary (also the tombstone says 1852). However I found a Pike County Early Births/Deaths book in the courthouse there that lists John C. Ball as being born on July 18, 1855 - this date would correlate with the census records and the age difference shown on the marriage certificate. A lot of the information on the death certificate was left blank or stated UNKNOWN and I feel that the person providing the information may not have known the true birthdate for John C. Ball.

Obituary for Margret "Betty" Jane Ball

The Raleigh Register - Tuesday, September 8, 1936 (page 1) Mrs. Betty Jane Ball, 71, died at her home on the Johnstown Road at 1:30 a.m. today after two weeks illness from pneumonia fever. Funeral arrangements had not been made at noon. She is survived by her widower, John C. Ball and seven children: Mary, Andrew, Freeland, and Basil of Beckley, Thomas of Skelton, Charles of Lillybrook, Landon of Stanaford. Margret "Betty" Jane Blackburn was born on June 13, 1862 in Pike County, KY to John Blackburn and Lydia Blankenship of Pike County, KY. She died on September 8, 1936 in Beckley, Raleigh County, WV.

Information submitted by Debbie Ullom who is the great- granddaughter of John C. Ball and Margret "Betty" Jane Blackburn. E-mail Debbie Ullom

**The date posted under Betty Jane's obituary was calculated using the age in yrs, months, and days from the Death index at Raleigh County Courthouse (also the tombstone says 1862). Her death certificate lists the date of birth as June 13, 1865. I believe this to be more accurate since it correlates with the age on the marriage certificate. Obituary for Rev. Oscar Blankenship

I thought. - how will I be received. Before I had time to figure out how something hard rested on my point and began to push it.

A hefty orc jumped from stone to stone humming some kind of funny tune. A scarred face, a contented smile with a broken left fang, a hunting suit on a muscular body, and a short staff. In hand. The world was beautiful, the prospects were pleasing, and the purse of jewels in her shoulder bag lifted Sharg Gro-Mak's spirits.

The orc froze as he rounded another rock ledge.
