Martin dm acoustic guitar

Martin dm acoustic guitar DEFAULT

OF FRETS CLEAR: 14

The Martin DM was introduced in 1996 as the prototype for Martin’s Road Series, the company’s most affordable all-wood guitars. It was listed [back then!] at $1199 retail and available at discount stores for $900+/-. While it was discontinued, quality used ones like this one give you a chance to own a genuine Martin with a solid spruce top made in Nazareth, Pennsylvania at a reasonable price. [Company specs are listed below.]

This particular guitar was produced in 2002, judging from the serial number (908852) and the Martin website. It is in excellent “player’s” condition, with the usual signs it has been played: some dings and dents, especially along the edges, and some pick scuffs on the pick guard. More seriously, there is a very professional mahogany patch of about 1” by 4” on the lower bass side, and evidence of a careful headstock repair. The action is right at 4/32”, but the high saddle and the functional truss rod offer an easy means for adjustment. It sounds great—like a Martin, in other words—and of course it has that great gold Martin logo on the top of the headstock!

The hard shell case is obviously not an original Martin case, but it is in very good condition, it fits the guitar perfectly, and the latches and hinges are shiny and perfectly functional [one latch is missing a hasp]. The black plush interior is spotless, and obviously, it offers great protection and is an excellent complement to your Martin guitar.

Buyer pays a flat rate of $55 for shipping to the lower 48 states; shipping costs elsewhere will be negotiated as necessary. Payment by Paypal is preferred; cashiers and personal checks are acceptable, but checks must clear before the guitar will be shipped.

I have made every effort to describe and illustrate this guitar and case with scrupulous accuracy. Please check out the pictures and ask any questions you might have before offering to buy it. Its return will not be accepted unless it can be shown that it was egregiously misrepresented in this listing.

Good luck!

I've wanted a D-28 for many years but, money was always an issue. I found my 2002 model DM on consignment in St. Albans, WV and couldn't be more pleased with it's sound or it's action...for less than $1,000 including that plush green Martin case! It's a keeper.

For Maybelle I've owned this guitar since 2012, having blindly purchased it through an ebay seller in Clearwater, Florida. I was living in Dawson City, Yukon territory 5400 km away as the raven flies. It survived the trip well and upon arrival at -40C weather, it tuned right up and needed no setup. I have played hundreds of gigs on this guitar in all conditions; inside, outside, hot, cold, weddings, bars, festivals, recordings, workshops and campfires. This is the next best thing to a D18 orD28. I own 3 other good guitars , including a 2013 D18 and The DM is still my go to. She's been rained on, left out in the cold, locked in hot cars, dropped a few times and stepped on, a few other. A few repaired cracks and bruises and still plays really well.

The axe is in rough shape. The top is super dried out (courtesy of Colorado environment) and the neck has started to separate from the body. With a little bit of work this would be an excellent players guitars. Includes hard shell case.

Martin DM Guitar - Any opinions?

kydave wrote:

Do they hold their own against a D18 or 28.

No, but you shouldn't expect them to.

For a list price of $1199 and street price of what, $899 at MF, maybe better at some of the true 60% stores.. say $720; There are some really nice solid wood well made guitars around. I don't mean to be negative, but I'd rather wait and get a solid wood Martin or buy a solid wood non-Martin rather than buy a laminate B/S guitar just because it says Martin on the headstock. But that's just my opinion.

I know that many people share the above opinion- it is not unreasonable- but my experience has been otherwise. I have owned a whole bunch of solid wood guitars, as well as several laminates. And while there might be a slight difference in sound, it is less significant than one might think- at least to my ears.
I believe the biggest factor in tone is the top wood, the second biggest factor is bracing. Back and side woods are a distant third in influencing the sound IMHO. So I would prefer "Martin" on the headstock of my laminate, over most other brands of solid wood guitars in the same price range. I think the DM is a good example of this.

Try a blinfolded A/B test sometime- you might be surprised at what you hear. Of course, your mileage may very.

Sasha said that these were perversions and insisted that everyone should refuse. Igor, however, said that he would definitely go and that this should not be allowed to pass. At first Anton hesitated, but quickly sided with Igor. And then Sasha gave up.

That night, Paola even somewhat regretted that she did not have a vagina. She certainly did not have such a thing before.
