Agree to this, the angle of the spraybar was the midrange adjustment. Between the dumbed-down manuals created by Hobbico that failed to even mention the midrange adjustment, and the incredibly poor Italian to English translation of the originals, it isn't surprising that people had problems tuning them. Back in the late 90's, we used to sell the Thunder Tiger GP42 as the low-buck beginner's engine, it was an incredibly friendly engine for a good price with near OS quality. This did lead a lot of people to use TT over ST and OS for their later models.

The guys who had experience and were dabbling in speed liked to used the ST G45 ABC engine with a pipe. We sold a lot of the F style propjet ARFS back then.

Another good seller for us was the ST It had a nice price with tons of power and made a great engine for many of the 60 size planes of the day. You did have to be careful with exhaust on it, as too little backpressure would give you a deadstick several minutes into the flight. It was pretty much standard to swap on a pitts style muffler in place of the giant log that ST supplied. You either blocked one of the outlet pipes, or installed a pump to make the engine run properly.

This is a SuperTigre G90, the updated version of the S90K. The main
differences between the two engines are that the G90 is a one-piece crankcase
(S90K was a two-piece), and the G90's muffler is a bolt-through-the-crankcase
(S90K muffler bolted onto the crankcase).

Super-Tigre Glow / Nitro Engines

   The invention of the Glow Plug, by Ray Arden in , created nothing less than a revolution in model engineering. From that point on, Control Line and RC was transformed, and with the new "Glow Plugs" having the same thread as the old Spark Plugs, old Ignition Engines could be instantly converted into Glow Engines.

   Fuelled by a mixture of nitromethane and methanol, the modern Nitro Engine Glow Plug has a platinum-iridium coil, that is initially heated using an electric current from a "Starter" to ignite the fuel and start the process. From this point, the heat produced from compression and combustion keeps the engine running until the flow of fuel is cut off or simply runs out.

Jaures GarofaliMr. Jaures Garofali, founder of Super Tigre engines, passed away on Thursday, March 26th at the age of Born in Bologna, Italy in , Mr. Garofali was one of the true pioneers in model engine design. He began designing model engines at the age of seventeen, originally producing engines under the OSAM brand name. He later founded Super Tigre engines in The first Super Tigre engine produced was the G, a cc diesel engine soon to be followed by a powerful glow version. In , he produced the famous G, a cc glow engine that was destined to become one of the most famous engines in the Super Tigre line. The G was flown by modelers in virtually every country and received more than its share of first place awards for the next fifteen years. In , Amato Prati used a stock SuperTigre G in his “Speed King” model and reached a speed of km/h, a new Class A world speed record. Mr. Garofali continued to upgrade and improve the performance of this engine, incorporating ideas he received from modelers, especially the speed fliers.

Marconi, a well known speed flier, used the SuperTigre G Lappato (lapped piston, strengthened crankcase with removable rear cover and many internal changes) to achieve another Class A world speed record of km/h with his “Tajavento” model.
