Clear up coffee table clutter by consolidating your TV remote and smartphone.

Are you ready to binge on your favorite television shows? Awesome. Now think of all the remotes living on your coffee table: one for the TV, DVD player, cable, gaming console. That’s quite a collection you’ve got going there. Pare it down a bit by learning how to turn your smartphone or tablet into a TV remote.

1. IR blaster.

If your phone has an IR blaster, download a TV-remote app like AnyMote Smart IR Remote. Not only can it control your TV, but also any device that receives an IR signal—set-top boxes, DVD and Blu-ray players, stereo equipment and even some air-conditioning systems.

2. Manufacturer app.

Today’s Smart TVs have accompanying manufacturer apps. Samsung Smart TVs, for example, are compatible with the Samsung TV Remote App. The app allows your device and television to communicate over your Wi-Fi network. Chances are if you have a Smart TV, there’s an app that’ll turn your device into a remote.

It all starts here. Experience entertainment like never before.

The One Remote

Aim Anywhere

You never have to worry about where you're pointing the remote. Aim it anywhere to control your box.

Backlit Keys

Sleek backlit keys help you navigate to your favorite shows and movies easier in the dark.

Program your remote

Control your Altice One box

To use voice commands and control the box when it's placed out of sight, even when located inside a cabinet or entertainment center, you must first pair it.

  1. Turn on the TV you want to pair your new remote to.
  2. Press home on your remote and navigate to Settings.
  3. Press to highlight "Remote" and, press SELECT, then select "Pair Remote To Altice One".
  4. Press number7 and number9 simultaneously on your remote for 5 seconds.
  5. Highlight "Pair Remote Control" and press SELECT.
  6. You'll see on-screen confirmation that your remote is paired.

Control your TV

In order for you to turn the TV on and off and control your TV's volume, you need to program the remote to your TV.

First, identify your TV brand code on the chart to the right: If you don't see your TV brand code on this list, click here.

  1. Next, turn on the TV you want the remote to control.
  2. Press and hold tv and the brand number of your TV for 3 seconds until the light at the top of the remote turns blue, then release the buttons.
  3. With the blue light on, press and hold tv. When the TV turns off, release tv. This may take a few seconds.
  4. Verify that the programming worked by pressing tv. This should turn the TV back on.
  5. Press SELECT to store the code. The blue light will turn off when the code is stored.

Once a remote is paired to a box it can only control that particular box. If you'd like to use a paired remote on a different TV and box in your house, press number7 and number9 simultaneously for 5 seconds to unpair it and repeat the "Program your remote" steps above.

    Customer Questions & Answers

    • Question: Is this compatible with a tcl riki tv?

Answer: I am assuming you mean a TCL Roku TV correct? I just purchased this for mine and it works like a charm. With one caveat, if you power it with the USB from the TV, you have to manually turn the TV on to activate power to the USB. If you power it will and external USB power supply you will be able to turn the TV on and off. Also keep in mind the TV's IR receiver is on the bottom of the screen in the middle in a whitish plastic area below the screen.
    • Question: Which is the receiver and which is the emitter?? One is larger than the other.

Answer: The picture depicts from left to right the receiver, the emitter and the USB. The receiver is the larger one.
    • Question: "excellent signal range" Does that mean that the receiver is doing more than just receiving, meaning is it emitting to catch a better signal? hope not

Answer: Receiver is just very sensitive. It’s actually hard to block an IR signal from reaching it. Which is good.
    • Question: I don’t know what I’m doing wrong but I have mine plugged into my bose receiver- light flashes green on the receiver but nothing?

Answer: Confirm with your receiver manual in the exact location of the infrared sensor. Ours what not visible to the eye. One we found it’s location the extender worked.
    • Question: I bought this extender 2 months ago and it stopped working, I checked, it’s not the remote.. What else can I do?

Answer: I am having serious problems with mine as well. The distance and line of site capability on this device are inadequate. I am going to try an adjustment on it once more and then will have no choice but to scrap and replace.
    • Question: Does this product work with the bfax peep hole sensor?

Answer: Hi there, I am with BAFX Products. Our All-in-one kits are not compatible with the peephole receivers. You would need our standard single zone kit in order to use one of the peephole receivers. Best regards, BAFX Product
    • Question: Does it work with Altice one? I tried to set it up but no luck.

Answer: On Altice One the new remote is paired to the cable box via BlueTooth. You should be able to hide the box and not use an IR repeater with the new remote. If you have an older IR remote, like the Optimum remote silver or black, with the Altice One box then you do need an IR repeater. This device does not transmit the frequency of the Optimum remote. Long story short, the BAFX does not work with Optimum IR remotes.
    • Question: Looking for a remote extender for our camper that has a tv that rotates from the living to the bedroom ! Would this work?

Answer: Not the best option. It’s supposed to work ok for your needs but I purchased one, never worked and zero support. The only goog one was they returned the money to m
    • Question: Does this work with Facebook portal?

Answer: It should work with any device using IR (infrared) and it still needs direct line of sight to operate. I use it with a Sony TV and a space heater, works fine. I have a device using RF (radio frequency) and doesn’t work of course.
    • Question: I have installed the sensor. Why can’t I power on my receiver? Everything else works great...

Answer: This detector must be powered from connection to a 9v output USB port. You can use a power strip or a stereo unit USB connection programmed as a 9v USB connection! Some stereo units have USB connections programmed only to playback external mp3 files! Please check the appropriate operations manual.

    Responds but doesn’t emit light

Tried this with multiple Direct TV receivers and the emitter doesn’t seem to be flashing a light. 4 days beyond the return window. Hopefully bafx is willing to replace?

    Need better adhesive.

The product would rate a 5 if the emitter would stay attached. It is a lot of trouble to reattach every 4-5 hours. When working properly it is excellent.

Works, but must be VERY precise

I am using this on a Spectrum Technicolor 201-T cable box (no clock). The IR on this box is in the center. If you use a flashlight you will see a line of dots in the center, to the left of that you will see a couple of dots, that seems to be the IR. Using this device, there is a little opening in the back and that has to be SPOT ON for the signal to transfer. I used some painters tape on the top and slowly moved the transmitter around the area and constantly hit guide on the remote pointed at the receiver until it responded. Then I would tape the transmitter down... of course it would move every so lightly and be off, so I did this over and over until I got it exact. I have no idea how this is going to work when I actually remove the backing from the stickum.

From the site, I see this...

    Voice Activated Remote
Bluetooth-enabled remote allows you to use voice commands to tune to a channel and find shows, plus get search results on actors, movies, your favorite sports and more.

Which makes me wonder if it even does real Infrared commands, nevermind discrete codes.

Is this a bluetooth remote or is it an Infrared remote? Does the Altice one have an Infrared Receiver eye on it?

Hi, the altice apparently is Bluetooth. I am trying to set the volume and the mute for the URC to sync with the altice cable box. Does anyone know how to do this if the altice remote is Bluetooth?

If the URC remote does not support Bluetooth and Altice does not support IR, then the answer is likely no.

Do you have a contact for URC support?
