When Do World Quests Reset in WoW?

What many WoW players don’t know about the world quests reset is that the time for each reset may vary. There really isn’t a fixed time when all the world quests that are available in the game will reset. Instead, the reset time completely depends on the world quest itself.

Different world quests will reset at different times. This is actually done deliberately. Due to the various world quests, there is plenty of variation in the reset time. This is also why many players get confused about when world quests reset.

With that out of the mind, you may wonder whether there really is no way of knowing when world quests reset? Luckily, that is not the case.

Even though there are plenty of world quests, most of them reset at the daily reset. If not, then they will reset 12 hours after that. This does not go for every world quest, but instead, the majority of them. For those of you who aren’t aware, the daily reset time is 10 am Eastern time (The time may slightly change as it used to be 11 am during the Summer).

As for the remaining world quests, they may vary. Longer duration quests also exist, which includes dungeons, or rare boss quests. These can last from 36 hours to 3 days. Then there are also world bosses that last up to a whole week.

Besides these quests, there are some that will switch out in other cycles. For instance, there are quests that reset at multiples of 4 or 6 hours after the main reset time has taken place. However, profession quests only reset during the morning reset.

The most common times for world quests reset are 8 AM PST, 2 PM PST, 8 PM PST, and 2 AM PST. It is vital to note that these aren’t all the times for world quests reset. This is just to give you an idea of when you should be expecting most of the world quests reset.

But How to Know When All World Quests Reset?

The best thing to do here to use a 3rd party world quest addon. Apart from that, there is possibly no way of learning the world quests reset time, unless you want to go through each one of them and memorize them.

By using a world quest addon, you will be able to summarize most of the reset times in the form of a filterable list. These should show right next to your map. Another benefit of it would be that you will always be able to keep track of how much time you have left.

What’s more, is that there is plenty of word quest addon that you can use. World Quests Lists is a very popular addon that can be used to achieve the same thing.

The Bottom Line

Ever wonder when do World Quests rest in WoW? Unfortunately, not all of the quests reset at the same time. This can be confusing for most players as the reset time don’t follow the same pattern. Some take hours, while the other take days to reset. However, you can make use of a World Quests addon to help you determine reset times for the world quest that you are looking for.

WoW Shadowlands Weekly Reset: What's going on with Warcraft this week?

It's that time of the week again - whether you're fighting for the Alliance or against the Alliance as the Horde, there's a new World of Warcraft update and it's another weekly reset for WoW Shadowlands. Here's the latest on what you need to know.

RELEASE TIME - When did it all go down?

Every week, World of Warcraft resets at the same time. The US, Latin, and Oceanic Servers all get reset at the following times on Tuesday:

  • 08:00 PST
  • 11:00 EST
  • 16:00 BST

Following on from this, the European Servers are reset a little later at the following times on Wednesday:

  • 00:00 PST
  • 03:00 EST
  • 08:00 BST

The World of Warcraft daily reset is also at the same time of day on both servers - just every day, as you'd imagine.

WEEKLY RESET - What actually happens?

This week, it doesn't look like a new WoW Shadowlands Patch has dropped - so, that means the Weekly Reset is just going to be the standard refresh of Raids, Weekly Chests, World Bosses... Everything that you can grind for.

Earlier today, though, WoW Shadowlands' Patch 9.15 was added to the Public Test Servers (PTR). We're expecting this to drop in around three weeks, spending a spell on the PTR to allow Blizzard to test everything that's changing properly.

AoE limitations are being reversed, there's going to be major changes to the Covenant system, and you should find some more customisation options for a handful of Allied Races going forwards.

A lot of WoW players think that this update is releasing a little too late - as it is addressing bugs that have been on Blizzard's radar for months. Activision Blizzard has come under fire recently for its abhorrent workplace culture - you have to wonder if it's finally time for WoW Players to move on.

Daily quests (popularly nicknamed dailies) are repeatable quests that can be acquired and completed once per day. These quests have significantly better rewards than other repeatable quests. Daily quests come in many different flavors, and many are for reputation, professions, seasonal events, and pet battles.

Daily quests are denoted by blue exclamation marks and question marks (AvailabledailyActivedaily) appearing over the quest giver's head, as compared to regular quests, which have yellow marks (AvailablequestActivequest).

Reset times

The exact reset time for daily quests (that is, the time the next "day" begins) is the same across the region (North America, Europe, Oceanic, etc...), selected to be early in the morning local time. These times are fixed, although local times may increase or decrease by an hour at two points in the year due to daylight savings time changes. The reset times for each region are:

  • Europe (EU Region): 07:00:00 UTC
  • North America & Oceania (US Region) : 15:00:00 UTC
  • Asia: China, Korea & Taiwan (CN, KR & TW Regions): 23:00:00 UTC

Times are given in Coordinated Universal Time, since many different time zones may be playing in each region. This site displays the current UTC, along with the offset from the local time zone.

Before the introduction of daily quests, the sole means of gaining high levels of standing with the various reputation factions was constantly grinding mobs, either for direct standing gains from kills, or from special items looted from mobs that could be turned in to a repeatable reputation quest giver. This was a long, slow, and arduous process, especially if players were trying to reach exalted standing with any of the factions.

Daily quests were introduced during Burning Crusade in patch 2.1 for the Netherwing, Ogri'la, and Sha'tari Skyguard factions, with a system-enforced limit of 10 daily quests completed each day. The same few daily quests were available every day for the factions, and this quickly led to complaints about the repetitive, grindy nature.

In patch 2.3, Cooking daily quests were added and offered one quest from a pool of several in an attempt to ease the monotony. This concept was also used for the daily battleground, dungeon and Heroic dungeon quests added at the same time, and for future profession daily quests.

The daily limit was raised to 25 in patch 2.4, as the addition of the Shattered Sun Offensive series of daily quests alone provided up to 19 more quests to do each day. The Shattered Sun quests suffered from the same problem that the other faction daily quests did in that only the same 19 daily quests were available each and every day. The Argent Tournament, added during Wrath of the Lich King in patch 3.2, was after progressing far enough, the first daily quest hub to offer at least some variation from a couple of the quest givers.

Daily dungeon, Heroic dungeon, and battleground quests were all removed during patch 3.3, owing to the introduction of the Dungeon Finder tool and the Random Battleground system being implemented.

With the launch of Cataclysm in patch 4.0, Blizzard finally provided quest hubs on Tol Barad Peninsula that did not offer the same quests each and every day—the quest givers provided players six quests from a pool of 22. The same was true of the Firelands Invasion daily quest hubs added in patch 4.2, as players could complete up to 18 quests from a pool of 55 each day, with more quests available after gaining higher reputation standing.

The 25-daily limit was removed altogether in patch 5.0, as players complained about previous-expansion daily quests eating into the total. A vast amount of level-90 daily quests were added with the launch in Mists of Pandaria, providing players the opportunity to complete up to approximately 54 daily quests on Pandaria alone, after faction limitations had been satisfied, from a pool of roughly 278.

Legion introduced the World Quest system, which replaced daily quests on the expansion's new continent, the Broken Isles.
