Fortnite io guard

Fortnite io guard DEFAULT

IO Guards are aggressive NPCs that were introduced in Chapter 2 Season 5. Their purpose is unknown, though they are hostile to players and will attack on sight, similarly to Marauders in Chapter 2 Season 3. They cannot spawn in Team Rumble, Creative, or any other Limited Time Modes. IO Guards are all similar masked guards with heavy armor on. They only spawn in groups of 3, through elevators that rise up from underground in specific spots when a player is nearby.

During a match strange Guard Boxes may come up from the ground. The equipment that appears in the Guard Boxes can occasionally change. Most of the time when these boxes appear they are accompanied by 3 IO Guards which are always carrying RareTactical Assault Rifles, with a small chance of one IO Guard carrying a LegendaryTactical Assault Rifle instead. All IO Guards spawn with 250 shield and 100 health. Similarly to a squad, when a full group of 3 IO Guards are knocked they will all be defeated, dropping their Tactical Assault Rifle and some Small Shield Potions. They will attempt to revive any of their knocked down squadmates if there is no threat present.

Spawn Points

Similar to Gorgers, IO Guards have certain spawn points across the map. However, they are way more common, with 20 different spawns. Spawn Points include...

Rare Boxes

There is a rare chance an IO Guard box can spawn something random. Usually these are easter eggs or nods to past characters or are trolls. Most of these secret boxes can spawn up to chests.

Here is the list of what else the IO Guard Boxes can spawn. These are rare and the player has to get lucky when coming across one.

  • The GHOST and SHADOW Henchmen duo from the previous season. They are confused about their whereabouts.
  • A Shark, which retreats to the water.
  • A single red chair, which spawns a single chest.
  • Midas' Golden Chair from The Ruins.
  • A Golden Toilet.
  • The Stone Dog from Chapter 1.
  • A Teddy Bear.
  • The Durrr Burger head, possibly from Greasy Grove, as that one is missing.
  • An Easter Island/Moai Head.
  • The Triceratops from the Dinosaur Area in the Desert Biome.
  • The Wooden Bear statue, which is found in multiple areas across both Chapters.
  • A gnome carrying a lamp.
  • A fish on top of a chest.
  • Nutcrackers and Candy Canes surrounding chests. (Added December 15)
  • A Sneaky Snowman surrounded with M-shaped wreaths and chests. (Added December 15)
  • An artificial Christmas tree, surrounded with wreaths , candy canes, and chests. (Added December 15)

  1. Use fast-firing weapons like Submachine Guns
  2. Attempt to defeat or weaken the IO Guards using Sniper Rifles before they can notice
  3. IO Guards can be powerful in numbers, so avoid any close range combat, unless you have powerful weapons.
  4. IO Guards only spawn in specific locations, which means if you pick a certain location and avoid the spawn locations there's a good chance you might not run into one.

5. It is suggested to use Rare/Legendary Submachine guns, Uncommon/Legendary Assault Rifles, Rare/Legendary Bolt-Action Sniper Rifles, or a Lever Action Rifle.

Usually, you would find a tent that is unbreakable rise up out of nowhere, and then you would hear a siren. After the siren, if IO guards are there, you will hear a thriller/sneaky type of music. If an IO Guard saw you, a question mark would rise above it's head. If you don't have powerful weapons, and an IO Guard sees you, run. If an IO Guard shows an exclamation point above its head, start shooting. About 3 IO Guards spawn at an outpost. You're lucky if no IO Guards spawned!

Where to Find IO Guards in 'Fortnite' Season 8

A number of quests in Fortnite Season 8 require you to track down IO guards on the island.

There are a variety of reasons you could be looking for these secret operatives. Sometimes you are tasked with defeating an entire squadron of them, while on occasions you just need to use a dance emote in their vicinity.

Regardless of why you are searching for IO guards, you might notice that their ranks have been thinned out a little since the Operation: Sky Fire event. They can now only be stationed in a handful of locations around the map (they were conversely quite prolific in Season 7), making it quite difficult to track them down, especially if other players beat you to it.

To help you find IO guards in Fortnite Season 8, Newsweek has prepared the following guide.

Where to Find IO Guards

Your best bet for finding IO guards is to visit one of their outposts or convoys on the island.

Those who are working through Charlotte's "Heist" questline will have a bit of an advantage here, as the third mission in her character punchcard actually marks these locations on the map for you. If you have already passed this point, or have yet to meet Charlotte, then the below image shows you all five locations.

There is a base near Pleasant Park, one at the midpoint between Steamy Stacks and Dirty Docks, another to the east of the Aftermath point of interest (POI), one in the southern mountain range and a final one on the outskirts of Holly Hedges.

In our experience, not all of these outposts were staffed by IO guards. In fact, we only managed to find them in the Holly Hedges location and the one near Pleasant Park, but that does not necessarily mean that they cannot appear elsewhere.

Just in case, here is a more detailed breakdown of where to find each of the IO Outposts in Fortnite Season 8.

IO Outpost Location #1

Halfway between Dirty Docks and Steamy Stacks, there is an IO outpost overlooking the coast. We didn't find any guards stationed here but there is evidence of their presence.

IO Outpost Location #2

Just to the east of Pleasant Park, there is a small outpost. We did find two IO guards patrolling this particular area.

IO Outpost Location #3

To the east of the Aftermath POI (the big purple blotch in the centre of the map), there is an IO outpost. It can be found near the s-shaped bend in the road. We didn't find any IO guards here.

IO Outpost Location #4

There is an IO base in the mountain range to the south of Misty Meadows. Look for the "Destined Dish" landmark and you should find it. We did not see any guards here either, but that does not mean they are never patrolling the area.

IO Outpost Location #5

Finally, the last location is guaranteed to have at least two IO guards present. We revisited the area in several different matches and each time there were a pair of soldiers wandering the grounds.

To find this outpost, head directly south of Holly Hedges.

How to find IO Guards in Fortnite Season 8

After their heroics throughout the Season 7 storyline, the IO Guards are back in Fortnite Season 8. While the alien threat is gone, the island of Fortnite is under siege from the Cube Monsters. As such, it seems the IO Guards have hung back to help protect the island once again. To mark their stay, Epic Games has included several seasonal challenges that involve the IO in some way.

Some of the Fortnite Season 8 NPCs require players to visit the IO Guards for their various quests. The problem with this is that players have no idea where to find the guards, as their numbers have thinned out significantly since Season 7. Luckily, they’re found in easily identifiable spots and players can even see where the guards are themselves in-game.

Finding the IO Guards in Fortnite Season 8

Players who are working through or have completed Charlotte’s questline will have a huge advantage in finding the guards. Charlotte requires players to visit IO outposts across the map, which are the only locations the guards are found. Moreover, Charlotte marks these spots on the player’s map, making finding the IO Guards simple.

However, for players that don’t have that luxury, they can look below for the locations of the IO Guards in Fortnite.

IO Guards in Fortnite
  • Southeast of Misty Meadows, east of the big snowy mountain
  • South of Holly Hedges, west of the red aftermath
  • Southwest of The Aftermatch in the center of the map
  • North of Dirty Docks on the coast
  • Southeast of Pleasant Park by the river

These outposts are a bit smaller than the Season 7 satellite stations, but do house some IO Guards. Players will have several NPC quests dealing with the IO in Season 8, so it’s best to commit these locations to memory.

Where to find Fortnite IO guards in Season 8 at an IO Outpost or the IO Convoy

Fortnite IO guards are still making their presence known on the island, though they're harder to track down in Season 8 since the events of Operation: Sky Fire displaced them from their original homes. Previously you could be confident of finding them at Fortnite satellite stations, but those are now either damaged or abandoned. Instead, the Imagined Order has established a new set of IO outposts and the IO convoy in Fortnite, so you'll need to visit one of those to encounter the shadowy soldiers.

If you want to risk it you can get some great loot wherever you find Fortnite IO guards, either by collecting what they drop when defeated or searching the special crates in their IO outposts. Plus, if you knock them down instead of eliminating them, you can shake them down for a scan of the surrounding area, revealing helpful info about what's nearby. Just be warned that these guys communicate and have security cameras that can give you away too, so be ready to fight more than one if you start some trouble.

Whether you're trying to visit or search a chest in an IO Outpost or in the IO Convoy, eliminate Fortnite IO guards or just dance near them, here's what you need to know.

Fortnite IO Guards locations in Season 8

There are Fortnite IO guards around the island at six new IO Outpost or IO Convoy areas, which we've marked on the map above. You'll find them in the following locations:

  • Base Oscar - northwest of Lazy Lake near Gas N' Grub
  • Base Rio - east of Pleasant Park near Grumpy Gravel
  • Base Domino - southwest of Holly Hedges near Rainbow Rentals
  • Base Echo - southwest of Misty Meadows near Apres Ski
  • Base Roger - north of Dirty Docks on the coast

  • IO Convoy - northwest of Dirty Docks near Compact Cars

Interestingly, the first letters of the base codenames spells out O-R-D-E-R, confirming the Imagined Order's control over them. When you arrive at any of these Fortnite IO guards locations, you'll need to keep an eye out for these ominous looking figures:

If you go to the IO Convoy location, you'll also run into Doctor Slone to increase the threat against you. It's always going to be a risk if you take the guards on in a fight, as they patrol in groups and communicate with each other to locate threats, so as soon as one knows you're there – say, because you're shooting them – then the rest will too. If you're not careful you'll start taking damage from all directions and, while a one-on-one face to face isn't too much of a problem, several Fortnite IO guards piling in can soon leave you heavily damaged and at a disadvantage going forward. If you don't need to engage them for the particular quest you're working on, you can stay hidden and do what you need without being detected.

Fortnite - IO Heist questline: Where are IO guards explained

The IO Heist questline is one the first punchcard questlines released in Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 8.

During this questline, you'll assist Charlotte (not me, the Fortnite character) in robbing the remains of the IO bases on the Fortnite map. To achieve this, you need to know where the IO guards are, so you can take care of them…

Completing this challenge set will reward you with a total of 80k XP, which will help you earn some Battle Stars and earn those first Season 8 Battle Pass skins.

On this page:

IO Heist questline in Fortnite explained

To start the IO Heist questline in Fortnite, you need to talk to Charlotte in-game. Thankfully, you can easily find her in Pleasant Park by the house in the south-east corner.

To accept her questline, you need to select the exclamation mark when talking to her. After doing so, you'll be able to work through her quests without having to leave the match and you won't lose any progress upon death.

Here you can find every challenge, along with how much XP you'll receive, in the IO Heist questline:

  • Collect an assault rifle and a grenade - 12k XP
  • Reach max shields (1) - 14k XP
  • Visit an IO Outpost or the IO Convoy (1) - 16k XP
  • Eliminate IO Guards (2) - 18k XP
  • Search a chest in an IO Outpost or in the IO Convoy (1) - 20k XP

Where are IO guards in Fortnite explained

If you want to find two IO guards in Fortnite, then you need to visit one of the IO Outposts or the IO Convoys. Thankfully, this is already part of the IO Heist questline, so you should see some guards upon your arrival.

We easily found two IO guards in the outpost near Pleasant Park and, killing them and opening the chest inside the outpost, allowed us to easily complete the IO Heist questline.

Here are the locations of the other IO Outposts and Convoy if you'd like to visit another location:

It's important to remember, however, that if another player has already visited this location and killed the guards, then they will not appear for you. If this does occur, then you'll have to visit another base or try again in a new match.

IO Guard Locations (Eliminate \u0026 Dance Within 10m of IO Guards) - Fortnite

Fortnite: Where To Find IO Guards (Season 8)

Locating IO Guards will be required for several Fortnite challenges in Season 8. These NPCs have been part of Fortnite's story for several seasons. The moment players encounter them, they will stop at nothing to defeat the player. Encountering them can be dangerous if players don't have weapons or shields ready.

A handful of challenges require players to hunt them down or even dance nearby them. These challenges are attached to the new Character Quests that have made their debut this season. At any point, players are able to help out the various NPCs around the map for additional XP toward their Season 8 Battle Pass.

Charlotte and Toona Fish, two new characters who joined Fortnite during Season 8, have quests related to IO Guards later in their Character Punch Cards. To complete these quests, players will need to find IO Guards and their convoys. IO Guards and their outposts are scattered around the map in at least five locations during Season 8.

Where To Find IO Guards in Fortnite Season 8

Before players can begin looking for IO Guards to complete Charlotte's and Toona Fish's Punch Card quests, they will need to complete the first quest on each Card. For Charlotte's questline, players will first need to collect an assault rifle and a grenade and also reach max shields. For Toona Fish's, players will just need to visit three named locations.

The IO Outpost and IO Convoys can be found in these locations.

  • Southwest of Holly Hedges.
  • South of Corny Complex and to the east of the center of the map.
  • East of Pleasant Park.
  • South of Steamy Stacks.
  • West of Misty Meadows.

The challenges themselves require players to dance within 10m of an IO Guard, search a chest in an IO outpost or in the IO convoy, and visit an IO outpost or convoy.

Players should land around these locations and grab weapons before interacting. The IO Guards will attack players the moment they notice them, which is indicated by a bright red exclamation point above their heads. Completing these Character Punch Card challenges will help players earn tons of XP toward their Battle Pass during Season 8. More Character Quests will likely be made available as the season progresses, and it's likely players will need to revisit these locations and engage the IO again in the near future.

She still tried to keep my head in direct contact with the pussy, but was unable to. Her body was beating in front of me, the hands that had slipped from her head clenched, crumpling, the veil. And I, reaching forward my hand, grabbed, twisting her nipple. And she drowned in a scream.

I was even scared.
