On-demand 30-min delivery or 2-day shipping
If you forgot to stock up for your self-care wine night, don’t fret. DoorDash just announced a big expansion of its alcohol delivery services.
Of-age users can now get beer, wine and spirits delivered to their doors across 20 states, including Texas, the company announced Monday. It’s not clear yet which other states will have the option.
“Over the past year, many cities where we operate evolved their legislation in order to permit the delivery of alcohol to residents’ homes. Over that time, we worked tirelessly to build a trusted alcohol ordering and delivery experience for merchants, customers and Dashers,” said Caitlin Macnamara, director of alcohol strategy and operations at DoorDash. “We’re committed to providing new earning opportunities for merchants and Dashers, a safe, high-quality experience for customers, and being a responsible leader in compliant alcohol delivery.”
Adding alcohol deliveries could increase restaurants’ and grocers’ average order values by up to 30% and convenience stores by over 50%, the company said.
Before this, the food delivery service did alcohol deliveries for national and local companies through its white-label fulfillment service, DoorDash Drive. And since May, Texas restaurants could legally sell alcohol to-go permanently.

DoorDash said it will also add safety features including pre-checkout, ID verification and partnerships with Responsibility.org and SADD — aimed at promoting alcohol responsibility and preventing underage drinking.
The process of ordering adult beverages to your home from the app is pretty simple. DoorDash users can toggle to the Alcohol tab of the app to browse and order from a selection of drinks from restaurants, grocery stores, local retailers, and convenience stores.
Last week, Texas governor Greg Abbott declared that, amid the coronavirus crisis, restaurants in Texas are now allowed to deliver alcohol to patrons while their dining rooms are closed.
Of course, the newly relaxed rules do come with some stipulations — any alcohol deliveries must be made alongside food, and all alcoholic beverages must be in their original sealed containers for delivery. Which means that restaurants won’t be able to mix up a cocktail and deliver it to drinkers in a to-go cup, but options like DIY cocktail mixing kits and bottled spirits are still totally on the table.
While everyone’s stuck indoors in an effort to help flatten the curve, consider ordering dinner and a drink for delivery from one of these Dallas restaurants.

Delivery dallas alcohol
DoorDash makes booze at home even easier with new delivery in Dallas and beyond
Getting alcohol delivered to your door has never been easier, and one national delivery app wants to keep it that way. DoorDash has expanded its alcohol delivery around Dallas, statewide across Texas, and to 20 other states and the District of Columbia.
To access the available options, simply select the Alcohol button in the DoorDash app. Users will find everything from popular retailers like Total Wine to restaurants selling cocktails to-go to the company's own DashMart offering. People can buy anything from a six-pack of craft beer to their favorite bottle of whiskey.
According to the company, the top three orders so far consist of popular wine varietals such Pinot Grigio, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Rosé. Others in the top 10 include "pale lager" (fourth), "classic margarita" (seventh) and three different flavors of hard seltzer: lemonade, black cherry, and iced tea.
The expanded program also helps restaurants take advantage of recent legislation that allows them to sell alcohol to-go with food orders. DoorDash cites a 2020 Nielsen report showing that alcohol is the fastest-growing e-commerce category across all consumer packaged goods.
“Over the past year, many cities where we operate evolved their legislation in order to permit the delivery of alcohol to residents’ homes. Over that time, we worked tirelessly to build a trusted alcohol ordering and delivery experience for merchants, customers, and Dashers,” Caitlin Macnamara, DoorDash's director of alcohol strategy and operations, said in a statement. “We’re committed to providing new earning opportunities for merchants and Dashers, a safe, high quality experience for customers, and being a responsible leader in compliant alcohol delivery.”
To that end, DoorDash has instituted age-verification procedures. Users will be required to upload a photo of a government-issued ID. Drivers will see a person's photo and birthday in their app when they deliver alcohol and will have to verify it matches a person's ID.
In addition, the company has partnered with two organizations to foster responsible relationships with alcohol: Responsibility.org and Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD). These nonprofits are helping the company prevent underage drinking, according to a release.
“We are proud to work alongside DoorDash to strengthen responsibility efforts in our communities and on our roadways by providing guidance and proven resources to help prevent impaired driving and underage drinking,” said Chris Swonger, president and CEO of both the Distilled Spirits Council of the United States and Responsibility.org. “Whether you’re a Dasher, a restaurant employee, or a customer — we are all stronger when we’re united by a commitment to a culture of alcohol responsibility.”
Mitragyna Speciosa
Dallas has CHANGED. This whole quarantine situation is wretched, but we all know it’s best for our community and, honestly, the world. It’s definitely giving us something to drink about, so thank you, Governor Abbott, for the new laws allowing to-go booze!
It’s still the wild west for this, but some places are getting creative and giving us all the chance to enjoy happy hour socially distanced with clean hands right at home.
