  • I used this storage for a few months. The manager was fantastic, he was very attentive from day one. He was fast to work with and of course the best part was the military discount.

The storage was clean. I love that they added a trash bin recently because there was none before and it just makes it useful to have a place to throw away the trash that can accumulate during these storage trips.

The hours worked well for me. The evenings are usually busy but during the day and even on weekends the place was pretty empty. It made it easy to park, load and unload. They have 3 carts that one can borrow to move your stuff around so it's helpful to visit when there is few people.

Currently they are asking for everyone to use a mask while in the premises and they allow one party at a time for elevator use. I am satisfied with the service and will definitely consider the storage place for the future if I need services again.

  • Really bummed about what this place is doing.  They will jack up your rental rate WITHOUT notice for ANY amount once your stuff has been expensively moved into the unit.  Not even after a year, to say, we will have to increase rates by x number (within reason) would you like to stay or not, you have two months to decide to move.   This rate ripoff happened only after a few months there.   Again, with NO notice whatsoever.   Plus they charged my card weeks ahead of when the agreement was to charge it.  When I brought this up to them, they said "too bad so sad. We can do what we want."  I said that is NOT OK, especially since it's been a state of emergency in CA and so many people have had to relocate, downsize, etc.  It's actually illegal for them to gouge.  So I got a phone call from the manager, who said don't worry, I've lowered your rate again.  I was pleased that they understood their error.  I go to look at the bill and was shocked to find it had been lowered by a whole TWO DOLLARS, not at all near my original contracted rate.  Ridiculous that they can get away with this ripping people off like this.

  • Prices are going up again, public storage is gouging customers due to people losing their homes and apartments these guys are raising pricing !

They threatened me  that they will auction all my things after being 30 days late with my payment!
And that dirty place is rat infested, you can smell the piss in the halls, and good luck trying to get them to replace a light bulb, I told the 4 months ago the light in my unit was. Burnt out and they still haven't fixed it!!
All my belongings are ruined with rat pee and crap !
    3 mattresses 1 of which cost me $1000.00 !!!
Ruined with rat pee all over it !!!!!!!!!!!
    All my clothes EVERYTHING!!!!!!

  • This is my second time using Public Storage at this location. I am back because the employees are extremely helpful and kind. In addition, they make the renting process easy because you reserve your unit online. Allan has made both of my experiences great. I definitely recommend storing items at this location.

  • I have never experienced such unfortunate customer service as I did with Public Storage. Although I moved out at the end of June, I was told on 7/02 that I was paying for the entire month of July because we had failed to remove the lock after I moved out, and it was against policy for them to remove it on my behalf. I called back 4 days later (7/06)  to inform them I would indeed keep the unit for the remainder of the month since I was paying for it (a family member had a need for short term storage) and at that point I was informed that they actually did cut the lock and I could not use it because it was rented. Okay, not a problem. I'll gladly pay for a new lock and for the few days it went unrented, but I explained I didn't think it was fair to pay for the entire month. The on site manager agreed, and offered me a call back after speaking with his regional manager. After 7/06, I never heard from public storage again. I left multiple voicemails at the Carlsbad Location, corporate offices, even tried to e-mail a couple different addresses to resolve this problem. Come the first day of August, I start receiving collection calls for the $200 outstanding balance I have with Public Storage. I am absolutely LIVID that even to this day (after leaving a message for the regional manager) that I have still not received a return call or any resolution. I finally decided to cut my losses and pay the $200 rental, however I warn anyone who needs a storage unit to look elsewhere. If you ever have a bill discrepancy, good luck getting in touch with anyone. They'd rather ignore you and send you to collections than pick up the phone to have a cordial discussion.

  • This is a terrible storage. We never find an available cart. Last Saturday evening, when I went there elevator was out of order, and I had to use the stairs. We came back on Monday and elevator was still not working, and we couldn't move what we needed. Thinking of moving out!

  • I waited to close my account to write this review. I hav been a client here for close to 2 years. First few months everything was fine. I came in to retrieve my diving gear recently to find rat poop and urine everywhere. It smelled in the elevator and on the whole floor. The place is never clean, they only have 3 carts for the whole facility!

I was fortunate enough to have everything in either a thick plastic tote, or not reachable by stacking things they couldn't climb or chew on. I lost only a few cloth items and a few shirts, but this could be devastating to have furniture or appliances rendered unusable by damage. I moved down the street to uhaul for the same price for a much larger storage! (5x5 here is 94 bucks; uhaul is 5x10 CLEAN, plenty carts for 95).
It's unbelievable that they don't do anything about this. Oh. And the elevator was broken, so I had to move everything out from the third floor! I've been here in the evening or early hours to homeless people walking in the halls, or sleeping by the elevators. Scary and not cool for clients. TDLR: RAT INFESTED OVER PRICED TERRIBLE FACILITY.

  • A fire sprinkler line leaked in the area by my unit. There was and still is dampness in the unit. Since I didn't buy their insurance, they basically just told me I was S.O.L. so to speak. They gave me a couple of dry empty boxes. They should have at the very least offered to waive this month's rent and/or help switch me to a dry unaffected unit but no. The manager hasn't even called me back as requested. I've basically paid them.$800+ to have my stuff damaged. Renter beware.

  • I rarely leave reviews but my experience here at this Public Storage was awesome! Friendly people and very clean premises! Would definitely rent a storage unit again in the future if needed.

  • Zero stars. Unacceptable. Stepping out of the elevator you can immediately smell rat urine. Rat poop all over the ground, both inside and outside of the units. Some of my sons most precious belongings covered in rat piss. Poop on top and and inside boxes. The worst thing is that the aroma is so potent, EVERYTHING AND I MEAN EVERYTHING smells of pee. My wood furniture has soaked up the scent.

What I find most disturbing is the fact that the facility is aware of the issue, but does nothing aside from hand you a piece of paper to file a claim. Since I was aware this place doesn't prorate, I thought maybe because of the condition, they would allow me a few extra days to remove my stuff. Seeing as how now I need to repay movers to move my stuff AGAIN.... but no. They told me even if I go one day into the next month I will be required to pay for that full month. Absolutely unsanitary and flat out bad business!! Nonetheless, flu and all... I HAD to get my stuff out of there.

Do not recommend. You can find a clean storage for less. This place should be shut down until their infestation is under control.

  • So far so good! I had contact-less move in and it was super smooth and easy! I love that they provide carts to help you move your stuff.

It is almost double what I was paying at the last storage unit I had, but given how easy, accessible and clean the units are, I think it is worth the money.

  • BEWARE!!
Urine and poop seen through out the units like poeple
Live here and tons of graffiti!! YIKES!
The service here is just as bad as the bottles full of urine seen through out the facility..
They are never in the office or answer the phones.
They even ask you to leave them a 5* YELP review, wow oh so sad..

AVOID this place at all costs!

They have the worst customer service I have ever encountered.  They yell at you and treat you with zero respect.  Will be calling the corporate office also.

  • The no contact rental was soooo easy. All forms online. The manager called to offer assistance as soon as she saw my reservation.  Super clean facility.  Definitely got the business during Covid thing working well.

There is no one ever there to answer the phones, and not always in the office either. At 10:30 a sign on the door says they will be back at 11?
I want to get the heck out of this place, but I have to wait half an hour with a surprise note saying gone and back at 11? Their hours of in the office are 9 to 5. This is ridiculous.
When they finally opened they put their hand in the air like a stop sign and said not to get any closer. I just walked in the door and was being treated like a criminal or a diseased person. I have never been treated so poorly in all my life.   Yeah, there's covid, but they have plastic against the counter. You can go to a grocery store, a restaurant and be within 3 feet of someone and both people have masks on. What's the deal with this place???? Making people feel like criminals or treating the person like they have the plague.

  • I've been using this facility for a couple years now and have nothing but great customer service. I've moved units a couple times and it was always a smooth hassle free transition. Easy access to units and the facility is always clean. Great storage facility with competitive prices.

  • This storage here is pretty simple to access as long as you have the code and plenty of parking when coming during weekday late afternoon. I could feel this place is pretty secured, especially if you're on the second floor, since the elevator is only accessible if you have your own code, and the first floor too. The inside is really clean too so storing things here are really nice.

They've got pretty good online deals that going in-store so definitely make sure to check online. But they do charge a bit more that what the online mentions, such as insurance, locks, etc., which is one of the reasons why I couldn't give it a 5-star. Another reason is because their office says they close at 6 pm but no one was there for us to actually borrow a dolly when we were there at 5 pm; so we ended up having to make multiple trips by carrying boxes from our cars to the storage on the second floor. It took us about 30 mins to deal with that.

So make sure to try going there during morning and afternoon (before 4 pm) if you need a dolly and expect extra fees coming in than you thought you'd be paying.

  • Not sure why so many reviews about rude customer service, my husband and I received excellent customer service while we were there! Very smooth process for our first storage unit.

**UPDATE*** the customer service was great, however we found that one our boxes was infested with spiders  And after we went through our boxes and needed to throw a bunch out, found out there are no dumpsters on the property. So moving out has been a crappy experience.

Not sure why so many reviews about rude customer service, my husband and I received excellent customer service while we were there! Very smooth process for our first storage unit.

  • Tammy in the front office is great. She knows their system and how to make it work for the customer. She goes the extra mile for you when she really doesn't have to.

I rented a large outside unit.

    They keep this place clean.

Corporate took their time replacing a light switch to provide light inside these units which are 30 feet deep (this is not a reflection on the front office staff who were really friendly and helpful).

  • Photo of A E.

This place is a disaster.  I have been overcharged, I have called management every day for 10 days, and my account information is still incorrect. No one will call me back and help with the adjustments. I wish I had never contacted this place to begin with. Do yourself a favor, and choose a different storage location!

  • Incredibly rude people who wont tell you their names
