If you havent figured it out by now I love Avocado! So you could say this birthday theme was more for me than Aiden, but I figured I might as well go for it before he becomes old enough to tell me what he wants!
After I decided I wanted to go with an avocado theme I realized it was very difficult to find avocado theme party supply. It feels like I found every food imaginable except for avocado On that note if you want to do a donut themed party you will find so many options! Thats when I decided this was going to be a DIY party!
Some of these things I already had like the stand to hold up to white photo backdrop, which I think is a good investment if you have kids or even if you dont and you plan on having parties.
I had a vision in mind for the high chair banner but I couldnt find what I wanted anywhere! So I decided to make my own! and it was actually supper easy to make. Here is a tutorial.
These were actually supper easy to make, you can see a tutorial for them HERE. To get the avocados to stick on the photo backdrop I hot glued a piece of paper to the back and just stuck some tape on there and it stayed put the entire party.
This dresser that I always have in my living room just happen to match the theme perfectly, its an antique but I linked a similar one above.
Both the cupcakes and cookies were made by my sister. For the cookies she used these 3 colors Green , White (to mix with the green for a lighter color) , brown. Since I couldnt find an avocado cookie mold, we actually used an egg shaped cookie mold. For the cupcakes she used green icing in a can, ended up needing 2 cans for all the cupcakes.
We also had some tortillas chips and guacamole, which I recommend getting somewhere like Costco or Sams club if you have a membership.
If you have amazing sisters or other family members like me get them to dress up into an avocado! I had no idea they were doing this!
While this probably was not necessary I thought it was super cute. I customized and purchased all 3 T-shirts at Zazzle, a word of advise dont wait a week before the party to order like I did, because you will end up paying ALOT for rush shipping.
We already had the matching shoes, I went with Converse because they are probably the cheapest sneakers that you can easily find matching pair for the entire family. If you have never worn Converse before they do run big.

That Time I Threw an Avocado Party

If you were ever looking for a way to bring people together look no further than the avocado. When I told my friends that I would be throwing an avocado party, complete with tasty avocado-based drinks and snacks, they practically lined up at my door. Its really pretty remarkable. I mean, I cant think of any other health food that people get this excited about eating. Can you?
My avocado party spread included several recipes that the Haas Avocado Board generously shared with me in their Avocado Party Box. (Yup. That was a fun mail day.) Along with a pile of cute recipe cards I also received some cute party plates and Avocado t-shirts! They say Keep Calm. Its good fat and were a HUGE hit with party guests.
Another huge hit during the avocado party was the food. I made a big batch of Agua Fresca de Aguacate to drink. For snacks, I made a bowl full of Vegan Avocado Ceviche, and Chipotle Avocado Stuffed Cherry Tomatoes. (These actually ended up being served as a dip since my cherry tomatoes wouldnt cooperate with the stuffing process. It was a dang fine dip though and thoroughly enjoyed.) The main dishes were Tortilla Crepe-Avocado with Apple and Sunflower Butter and Vietnamese Avocado Zoodle Salad served as a platter.

So what is good fat anyway? Well, when it comes to avocados, the unsaturated fat content can actually benefit your health. They are also packed with nutrition. Avocados contribute nearly 20 nutrients, including vitamins, minerals, dietary fiber and phytonutrients. These nutrients are especially important for growing bodies, making them a favorite nutritional go-to during pregnancy.
This is important stuff to remember during an avocado party. Eat up, I say! Its good fat.
Avocados are a favorite for kids too. Their smooth, creamy consistency and mild taste makes it an easy sell to even the most (ahem) selective eaters. Try putting a few slices of avocado in your little ones cheese, hummus, or even nut butter sandwich to boost flavor and nutritional value. You can even blend avocado into chocolate flavored desserts a welcome alternative to sugary sweets and processed snacks.
Look at these two little avocado party animals. My heart.
The smooth and consistent texture of avocado makes it an excellent first food. Infants and toddlers tend to love avocao, and my CC was no exception. We would serve it to him mashed up or pureed with other veggies, or simply cut into slices for finger-food practice. If you need some baby food inspiration, here are some simple recipes to help get you started.

I almost forgot to talk about my decorations!! I went fairly simple with this setup. The backdrop for my avocado party was made with three colors of crepe paper streamers. Start off by tacking two sturdy hooks into the wall as high up as possible. I like to go right up to the edge of the ceiling. The hooks should be tacked in at the outer edges of the area you want covered. In my case, the hooks were placed about 6 feet apart.
Next, string a thin, sturdy cord snugly between the two hooks. Tape streamers over the top string, alternating colors to form a striped pattern. Each streamer should be long enough to either touch the floor or be hidden behind your party table. Use a piece of masking tape to tack down the bottom of each streamer. This keeps them from moving around or getting tangled up.
I used a small party balloon to finish the backdrop. You can tape your balloon to the wall or use little hooks to keep it up. I covered the table with a large polyester tablecloth in deep green. For my floral centerpiece, I placed avocados in cone shaped vases along with some mixed flowers in milk glass vases.
We had so much fun at our avocado party. I cant wait to make that zoodle bowl recipe again and that vegan ceviche! Yum yum. Ive already seen several friends sporting their avocado t-shirts around town. Speaking of which, I have a few extra! Want one? Use the widget below to enter my little giveaway. Ill mail out tshirts and recipe cards to four lucky winners. (U.S. addresses only please.)

Ingredients2 1/4 cups sifted cake flour (sifted before measuring) 1 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. salt 2 Tbsp. butter, at room temperature 1 ripe, Fresh California Avocado, seeded, peeled, and pureed until smooth in a food processor or blender (do not simply mash) 1 cup sugar 1 tsp. vanilla extract 2 large eggs 1 cup low-fat buttermilk California Avocado Chocolate Frosting (recipe follows) California Avocado Chocolate Frosting2 3/4 cups confectioner’s sugar 6 Tbsp. unsweetened cocoa powder 1/2 ripe, Fresh California Avocado, seeded peeled, and pureed 3 Tbsp. butter, at room temperature 1 Tbsp. milk, or more as needed to thin 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- Preheat oven to degrees F. Spray two 8-inch round cake pans with baking spray. Line bottom of each pan with a round of parchment paper, and then spray the parchment with baking spray. Set aside. Set aside.
- Sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a bowl.
- In the bowl of a stand mixer, beat the pureed avocado with the sugar until completely combined. Beat in vanilla. Beat in eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. With the mixer on low speed, beat in all of the buttermilk until just combined. Add the flour mixture in 3 additions, mixing each addition until just combined. Once all flour is incorporated, increase speed to medium and beat for 20 seconds longer. Be careful to not over mix.
- Divide batter among the two prepared cake pans. Bake until golden on top and a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean, about 25 minutes. Cool cakes in pans on racks for 10 minutes before inverting, removing parchment paper, and cooling completely.
- While the cakes are cooling, prepare the frosting. In a medium bowl, sift together the confectioner’s sugar and cocoa powder.
- In the bowl of a stand mixer, cream the butter with the pureed avocado until smooth. Gradually add the sugar mixture, adding a Tbsp. of the milk for moisture. Blend in the vanilla. Beat until light and fluffy, adjusting the consistency with more milk or sugar.
- Place one of the cakes on a plate or platter. Spread with one third of the frosting. Place remaining cake on top. Spread top and sides of cake with remaining frosting. Serve.
Beverage pairing: Delicious with cold milk or hot coffee.
*Large avocados are recommended for this recipe. A large avocado averages about 8 ounces. If using smaller or larger size avocados adjust the quantity accordingly.
