If you had a pet, you'd feed it, walk it, and bathe it, wouldn't you? These basic procedures of care are an essential part of being a pet owner.
The same can be said for a car. As the proud owner of a Ford vehicle, the best way to ensure your car's longevity is to practice basic care and stay up-to-date on routine maintenance.
To help keep Pensacola, Crestview, and Fort Walton Beach drivers on top of their vehicle's maintenance needs, World Ford Pensacola put together this maintenance schedule.
Every 7, Miles
Ford Motor Company generally recommends that you schedule an oil change every 7, miles, or every 6 months (whichever comes first). However, be sure to check your owner's manual or contact your local Ford technician for your vehicle's specific needs.
Your Ford may also be equipped with an Intelligent Oil-Life Monitor, so keep an eye on your dashboard for the change engine oil soon or oil change required indicator.
Also, replace your oil filter when indicated on the dashboard, or every 12 months.
Plus, don't forget to have your wheels aligned and tires rotated with each oil change to help distribute wear evenly.
Every 10, Miles
This marks your car's first big checkup. At this point in your vehicle's life, you'll want to have the following completed:
- Check wheel end play and turning noise.
- Inspect cooling system and hoses.
- Inspect complete exhaust system and heat shields.
- Inspect brake pads/shoes/rotors/drums, brake lines and hoses, and parking brake system.
- Inspect and lubricate all non-sealed steering linkage, ball joints, suspension joints, half and drive-shafts and u-joints.
Most of these maintenance items are included in the multi-point inspection, which evaluates fluid levels, tire-tread depth and wear, brake pad thickness, and battery life.
Keep in mind that this whole inspection will need to be completed every 10, miles.
Every 20, Miles
At this point, in addition to everything completed at the 10,mile mark, you'll also want to be sure to replace the cabin air filter. This will probably need to be checked every 20, miles.
Every 30, Miles
At 30, miles, you should complete everything for the 10,mile checkup, as well as replace the engine air filter to prevent air and debris from causing irreparable damage to the engine. This should be checked every 20, miles from this point forward.
At , Miles
Congratulations on meeting such a monumental milestone! To keep your Ford running for , miles more, there's a list of additional maintenance items it's important to perform.
- Repeat 10,mile maintenance.
- Replace spark plugs.
- Inspect accessory drive belt(s).
- Replace cabin air filter, if equipped.
- Change the Ford Orange Specialty Revitalizer Engine Coolant.
At , Miles
By now, you and your Ford have had many good years together. To keep it around for many, many more, you'll want to
- Complete the 10,mile service.
- Replace timing belt.
- Change front axle lubricant.
- Change rear axle lubricant-synthetic only.
- Change transfer case fluid.
- Change automatic transmission/transaxle fluid and filter.
- Replace accessory drive belts (if not replaced within last , miles).
Also, make sure to change the Ford Orange Specialty Revitalizer Engine Coolant again during this visit.

Ford F 5,Mile Maintenance
As you begin to enjoy your Ford F by towing and hauling everything in sight, you’ll want to return to the shop for a quick inspection at 5, miles. With limited mileage on the odometer, this stop will be for the bare essentials that help the truck later in life.
What you can expect at this stage includes:
20,Mile Maintenance
The next time that your Ford F will need to come into the shop for something other than the regular oil change or tire rotation is at the 20,mile marker.
At this stage, a few performance parts, mainly the brakes, will require an inspection and may need to be replaced. If you’ve been taxing your truck especially hard over the first 15, miles, you could also receive these services at that point.
The services include:
Every 35, Miles
As you continue to climb and ultimately reach the 35,mile marker, your Ford F will want to return to the shop for a dose of new medicine. The immense strength of this truck is generated from parts that you want to keep a close eye on, so the following service includes:
- Coolant replacement
- Drive belt replacement
- Auto transmission service
Every 50, Miles
Each facet of the vehicle is inspected to ensure the next 50, miles pass by as smooth as the first did.
At this point, your F will receive inspections on the:
- Drive belts and hoses
- Motor mounts
- Suspension bushings
Every 75, Miles
The last mileage we’ll be discussing is 75, Once you’ve hit this point, your truck will require a few new services to go along with the many that have already been discussed. As you venture past this mark, it’s important to continue with routine care so your truck runs with the same capabilities even as it ages:
- Shock absorber replacement
- Strut replacement
- Spark plug replacement
Keep Your Ford F Running at its Best
To help ensure that your Ford F is running smoothly through the streets of West Point, King William, and Williamsburg, be sure to service it properly. If you need assistance or have any questions, schedule service at the West Point Ford Service Center!
