DESCRIPTION OF WORK:
The Clerk of Superior Court, New Hanover County, is seeking a qualified individual to serve in the position of deputy clerk. Deputy clerks serve an important role in the legal system of North Carolina by processing, controlling and maintaining documentation of court cases. As a deputy clerk you may perform a variety of duties including: documenting judgments in the courtroom, helping citizens with questions about legal processes, entering data about court cases and outcomes, filing legal forms and files, cash receipting, case file indexing, and an assortment of other tasks. New hires may be paid above the minimum rate if they have prior experience in the Clerk's Office.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES / COMPETENCIES:
Successful candidates must be computer literate, highly organized, and have excellent communication and people skills. Requires self-motivation, being able to work under pressure, and ability to handle a large amount of public interaction.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of 18 years of age. New Hanover County residents preferred.
